Wow. Ridiculously big.  We just don’t have any that big in our place.  Out of hundreds of hogs we have seen or shot, not sure we have any that are 300 lbs....

I don’t know if someone’s cheating or not but my experience is that it’s difficult to get a wild hog above 300#.  I’ve killed many 100’s and have seen 1000’s dead and alive and 250#-275# is a freaking tank in the wild and bordering on an outlier.

Short of intentionally fattening them for a contest, my belief is that a hog can’t get that large unless they have a permanent agricultural resource from which to eat.

Given 1000’s of acres of farm land, I could see a big boar topping 3 bills but foraging for revolving natural food sources doesn’t seem to get it done based on my observations.  YMMV.

I agree we have been killing and watching hogs on our place for a few years.  Tonight we shot these 3 rascals and before we weighed them I guessed the largest was atleast. 275...WRONG! These weighed F84370D9-80EA-4E9A-8645-0828B1E2322F.thumb.jpeg.38fe3ee61788fa4c12433ee6469f294a.jpegBD481B28-B049-442E-8BA7-35FFBEB2DD58.thumb.jpeg.f0730106daf9c5b08ef16a54a0c24e33.jpegin at  220lb, 212lb and 168lbs.  The 212 lb was almost 6 feet long when strung up!  A 300 lb is Def a freak!!! 22CDFB28-0173-4B98-B180-F8E3CCFB030D.thumb.jpeg.7711a1cc276b508a7f094383b49e4f43.jpeg

  4. Now , if this was a turkey contest, we might have a better chance as they have been eating the hell out of it during the day.  Spring turkey will def be game on. They have been killin our sauce piles🦃AB4A7767-E5F7-4C9B-822E-01BE4732F92A.jpeg.d16748907c7cb7dfaa25db77624c6cf6.jpegE3667EFD-B67C-4117-A257-3A382E97C1A5.jpeg.c7881db1ef226156a01e6775f80466a4.jpegB3EEC7C8-D0B4-4ED8-B7C0-C5C7F3872A15.jpeg.414f48d2a12c27f9d7381c3868884e01.jpeg

Buddy of mine was showing my his weighed hogs in the wise county competition…

Then I looked up the leader board and holy shit!

378lb is the leader right now…

Buddy is trying to get at least 1 300+lb hog to place.

My land ain’t yet to see any 200+lb hogs

378 will be hard to beat!  We are entered into this contest as well.  We have been saucing them for 3 weeks now and tomorrow we hunt them for the first time (ice storm f’d is the first weekend)  we think we have a few over 300...we will find out tomorrow ! Here are a few we think might be 300+9ECEB352-106A-4193-8183-987514F18F6B.jpeg.d2566d5c8e6b438031a44b5b09faf36c.jpeg002F4C4F-D870-494C-9879-CECFA76FCBB1.jpeg.a96efd373a6ab334a74565da3b1d9c64.jpeg06BE6486-4248-4562-BCB8-5E992F3358C3.jpeg.ee1e479ae1a7164078908201427393b7.jpeg4733F346-35FE-440C-99D1-F60513F875FD.jpeg.73f91ee7a83f4e35c79c076961395408.jpeg

    That's half the fun man.

HAHA very true and Lake Como, its people and restaurants were awesome.  I was just trying to emphasize the drastic driving conditions compared to well, just about anywhere.  We were there in peak touristo time around mid July and it was very busy to say the least😄

I've got a buddy getting married near Lake Como in the beginning of August. Never been to Italy, but the wife and I would rather spend our time eating/drinking/scenery than doing museums/touristy things. Probably going for 7-10 days. Any itinerary/must do recs? Considering spending a few days in Switzerland too.

Lake Lugano, Verzasca River Valley, and  Lake Maggiore are just across the border in Switzerland - Super nice places with many great restaurants.   My favorite activity we did while there was swimming and hanging out on the Verzasca River.  I highly recommend Restaurante Seven in Ascona on Lake Maggiore - we were there 10 years ago and it was rated one of the top 10 restaurants in Switzerland at that time - not sure now but it was an amazing dining experience.  Driving....I see lots of recs for renting and driving and I agree driving is awesome but after driving in Switzerland for a week with a very regimented highway system and very calculated Swiss driving populace, the transition into Italy around Lake Como scared the living shit out of me - very narrow roads, cars parked on both sides, maybe 1' clearance on either side, crazy, less regimented Italians weaving around, and speeding with their hot blooded mannerisms which seemed hotter than the more laid back Swiss so it really put me on edge haha - we still talk and and laugh about it to this day in our family....

  8. TexPx - really  like the nude piece. I will add another Texas artist - Herb Booth who passed in 2014  - very well known wildlife and sporting artist - 13 pieces of his became Texas Parks and Wildlife or Gulf Coast Conservation Association conservation stamps.  Here is a watercolor named “Dove Tank”

Do people take the Lone Peak Tram to go die?  The runs look like the go to 11.

There are a few triple blacks there (Ive never skied them) but Liberty Bowl a single black is great when they have snow.  Otherwise, mostly double blacks.  I have rarely felt the need to pay the extra to go up the Tram as the resort is so huge and has so much good terrain to explore....I have skied there about 12 days in the past 2 years and I have only skied mostly on one side of the mountain and still havent skied all those runs ....

Hey, so if you were trying to convince a group of guys to go skiing in April, what are reasonable options?  I know Winter Park is usually stays open late.  A-Basin is a given.  What else?  One friend is asking to try to visit an Ikon pass location but maybe there are other options.  Not sure if there is an appetite for Squaw or Batchelor although I would love that.  Does Steamboat stay open late?  Taos seems to wrap up in early April.

Taos is extending their season a few days this year thru April 10th as they are hosting the World Pro Ski Tour World Championships 4/7-10 - I will probably go to this.  Another recommendation is Big Sky, MT (Ikon Pass resort) which closes later on April 24, 2022...
