  1. This thread has been a bit of a roller coaster with reviews from ep to ep of “classic curb” to “jumped the shark”.

I’ve enjoyed them all but the latest one was easily the weakest. I still laughed. It’s a silly show, so everyone’s mileage will vary and some bits are gonna hit more than others and some are gonna fall flat.

Haven’t looked to see how many eps are left this season but glad to have it going as long as we do. Though they’ve said it’s the last season, I’m not convinced they won’t run it back at some point.

  2. Slight surprise but quite deserved for Emma Stone.

She bought a house in tarrytown a few years ago. No idea if she ever spent any time there. But we used to party in its pool house in high school #csb

I like the added touch of other actors talking about the nominees instead of the voice over they usually do.

Agreed. A cool touch but I feel like they did it before. Maybe in the year after covid

I remember them doing it once or twice before. 2009 or so with Hugh Jackman hosting comes to mind for some reason.

I don't think there's much drama left. Chalk the rest of the way.

Or, with three awards left and 30 minutes, could the show finish early for the first time in ever?? (With an asterisk since it also started early)

Answer: Of course not since they can throw in the “coming up…” interstitial at any time if needed

I don't think Robert Downey Jr enjoyed his time in the monologue.

Didn’t seem like he did. Pretty overplayed and low-hanging fruit. Kimmel should have had better material for RDJ.

Watched Poor Things this afternoon. Enjoyed it.

So now I’ve seen all the BP nominees except Zone, Anatomy, and American Fiction.  Liked all I’ve seen with the lowest being Maestro but Oppenheimer my clear BP pick.

I’ve reread the series several times and recognized very little from the trailers. This being one of my all-time favorite series, I have major concerns B&W are improvising far too much. They did such a great job adapting GOT seasons 1-5, I had high hopes for this. I’ll watch but my expectations are greatly diminished.

Reading the article mentioned above, they decided to adapt it for a global audience since they already had a Chinese TV series, made for Chinese audiences (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three-Body)

The three creators (Benioff, Weiss, and Woo) spoke to author Cixin Liu on Zoom early in their creative process and received the novelist’s blessing to adapt his work — and he encouraged them to make necessary narrative changes. Some of those key changes include chronological shifts, character tweaks, expansions, additions, and setting the present-day story primarily in the UK.

First two eps of Three Body Problem premiered at SXSW tonight and review embargo is lifted. I’ll definitely watch, but with tempered expectations.

All eight eps out March 21

  7. Yeah the article says the NCFAA tried to negotiate a higher rights fee, saying their former inclusion in the games was undervalued. EA balked and will just put in their own generic awards.

Small bummer, but not really that significant to the dynasty mode experience.

The Heisman is operated by it's own entity so could still be in the game. Though I can only imagine the arrogance that group displays at the negotiating table.
