I haven't read the thread, but based on just this last page, I don't think I missed much. But if Biden wants to win the youth vote, he needs to push hard for decriminalizing the Mary Jane at the federal level.

Yes, so the Orange Jesus will take the obvious Christian Nationalist position that he will criminalize it again.

Not that there is any real need but I will indulge you since you seem to be so ignorant......... I know you aren't ignorant, you are an intelligent individual whom is just trying (I assume) to get a rise out of me and get your fellow CR junkies riled up here in your pristine little echo chamber.

This is a fairly long video that may not be able maintain the groups attention span. I chose this because he equally bashes Trump for the same thing you appear to believe Joe Biden doesn't do.

Just a few others off the top of my head.

No dude. They aren’t comparable that’s the point.

The point isn’t that they both suck and one just sucks less. It’s that one is an actual bad person, who does bad things, with ill intent and nothing but personal gain in mind. The other is just a lifelong politician. They are categorically not the same.

Trump is a through and through bad person. The only praise he offers is inflammatory and in support of oppression, pain and suffering. Seriously the guy cannot even muster the ability to wish everyone everywhere a happy holiday.

This is bullshit false equivalency that I hear a lot.   They both don’t suck. One is normal, a decent person, old, but someone who some might disagree with politically. The other is a terrible human being, a liar, and cares about nothing other than himself.
    You are dead on here.

  4. I agree with the need for a big man. My hope was that we would have lucked into one who had some nastiness/strength to him. Someone who is not afraid to go in there and push people around. I’m not sure who that would have been though.

Correct. The thing that got people the most worked up was that he called the coaching “embarrassing”. Folks here won’t like hearing the following but the defense against the poor coaching was the closeness of the final score, including Terry rebutting with folks to that point. “We barely lost!”. Okay then.

Yeah, I don’t like hearing that. Fucking RT.

Congrats, I don't see myself ever pulling the lever for the big D either. I honestly hate both parties, just hate the Democrat party way worse. FYI, IMHO Biden is the biggest pandering political liar of my lifetime.

You don’t think a POS like Trump pandering to evangelicals is a bigger political lie?
I have just come to the point of accepting that a large percentage of this country is just fucking stupid and no amount of education can overcome them being guided by their worst base instincts.
This statement reminds me of the Trump supporter who said something to the effect of he had never met a democrat who had not attended college and by his logic if you didn’t like Trump it was because you were indoctrinated in college.
I still maintain that racism and bigotry is a big factor with a large percentage of people who say they “hate” the Democrats.

Seems like a reasonable memo. Let's be reasonable people and allow for the reasonable protestations while letting those who want to ignore the commotion and simply go to school, do that.

I feel like Hartzell might be writing his own walking papers if he encourages or quietly allows another police showing like yesterday.

Hot Wheels has his back. Willing to bet he was exerting pressure to to do what happened yesterday.

    Where is it located?

I have an older Vizio bar/sub setup in my bedroom and it does fine for that. The Q60 I have in my living room (that I'm upgrading) would also be fine. That is probably where I move my TV/soundbar from the LR, and move the BR setup to the spare room.

For a budget type pick, I'd look at any of these:

    - Samsung HW-B650
    - Samsung Q60C
    - Vizio 2.1
    - Vizio 5.1

Not going to break the bank, and dialog will be fine (not an 11, but respectable at least). You won't rumble the house, but that's not what you seem to be after.

It’s my home office. Thanks for the suggestions!

My friend's soundbar is total shit, can't hear dialogue. Wish I could replace it with something. Soundbars in general are shit for a big tv. There's not much room there for receiver with external speakers, so might just look for a bigger decent soundbar that won't be a waste of money. Not many people really understand how those things work.

I had an older heavy 50 inch dumb TV with big speakers in the front, like God intended, stashed away for the game room. But it got donated to the poors behind my back. Great picture, sounded damn good with no attachments and didn't have to fudge with streaming shit. Pissed me off bigtime.

I’m trying to settle on a sound bar for a secondary tv that I just want to sound better than the tv speakers.  Not wanting to spend a lot because I have a nice set up on the main tv.
I know they are crap especially in the price range I’m looking at but can’t arrive on a general consensus as to what is a decent basic unit.

  11. I really enjoyed it although at times it was hard to look at which I guess it should be.
I disagree with some of the comments above about not really knowing much about the sides.
We know that the President was in his third term, he turned the military on its citizens, and his rhetoric in the beginning where he builds up to something being the “greatest military victory of all time” sounded familiar as well and conveyed a President who was lying to his people.  If you contrast his dialogue with what unfolds, it is a fair assumption he is not telling the truth.  The brutality at the end is certainly analogous to the fates of brutal dictators mentioned earlier in the film.
The other side is more ambiguous. Clearly, all guys in uniform were not created equal and some of the other war scenes involved people in civilian clothes.
It did leave some things for the viewer to fill in the blanks but not in an unfulfilling way like say a series that has an ambiguous ending.
Movie was really well done and the scary part is that it looked at the idea of a civil war in a way that was absolutely believable.
Definitely a thought provoking way to spend a couple of hours.

Thanks for the Dunning Kruger Effect reference, I was unaware of the term and concept.   It was an interesting item to read up on.   Thanks!

Note:  Not weighing in on whether the reference was applied correctly, just that I appreciate being prompted to learn about it.

I say it to people all the time. They go home and google it and realize I was insulting them.

Yeah, I probably built it up too much in my head.

I got close to going once to see White Zombie for the La Sexorcisto Tour, but I chickened out.  That whole area freaked me out at night.  We heard gunshots seemingly nightly.

Ironically, back then dirty 6th was relatively safe, so I was either seeing shows there at Emo's/Jelly Club/Backstreet, etc., or further west at Liberty Lunch, and Electric Lounge...or if I was really feeling frisky I'd brave going off S. Congress to the Austin Opera House.

I saw some great shows at the Austin Opera House.

Missed this one.  I've owned an Eastman slope-shoulder Gibson J45 knockoff and a 335 knock off.  Both were great for just under a grand each at the time.  I've played some J45s and owned a couple of 335s and I'd say they were roughly on par with a Gibson standard equivalent.  They are made with a similar level of care and quality of component.  They don't hold value like a Gibson, but if you buy used, someone else has already taken that hit for you.  I ultimately sold them, but it was not because they sucked.

I recently bought a used Epiphone 335 Figured Tea Burst used for $450. I’m not an expert by any means but it’s about as good a guitar as I would ever need. I thought that I would at least need to change the pickups but I was wrong.  These “Inspired by Gibson” guitars have CTS pots, upgraded hardware and are finished nicely. I also like the changed headstock better than the other version.  I kind of expected the guitar to be the typical Chinese cheap feeling  type of thing.  It’s slightly heavier than the Gibson as it’s not nitro finished but other than that the differences are not something I would notice

I’m not what I call a cork sniffer as I’ve been lucky to find three really good MIM Fenders as well as a 1993 LP Classic that I rotate around.  For someone who just enjoys playing at home I think there are a lot of moderately priced Chinese guitars out there that provide a good value.

Next year is going to be an interesting year.  Right now you have juniors (like Hunter) who are playing against guys 2 years older and more experienced than them (thanks to Covid).  The more experienced guards typically win in March (as evidenced by UConn just winning the title with a pair of 5th year guards).  And every good team has a number of these players.  Most of the good tourney teams had 3-4, we had four ourselves.

Next year, those juniors are going to go from being relatively inexperienced, to being the most experienced players in college basketball.  I really think it is crazy to want Hunter to hit the portal.  He is going to look much better next year going against younger players, and that isn't even factoring in another year of offseason shooting and maturity.   Plus the team is in desperate need of some continuity with all the guys graduating.

I badly want Hunter and Mitchell to stay and I want us to put better, more complementary pieces around them this year.

Weaver + Hunter + Tre Johnson + Dillon Mitchell + Kadin Shedrick (plus an elite lead guard and an elite big man) could be a very good team in 2024-2025 as talent and experience level in CBB takes a step back.

I agree as to Hunter and Mitchell.  I hope they come back.

    This guy gets it.

I expect we will make the tournament just about every year and win a game more often than not.  And possibly sprinkle in a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 run when the chips fall right.  That will be better than the 10 years before RT.

But we will never win it all under him, and it is very unlikely we will make a Final Four.

I don’t understand why anyone thinks that RT can make it to the round of 8 much less 16 on a consistent basis.  IMO people underestimate what an experienced team we had last year. I’m not saying RT didn’t have to coach them but it was far easier than what he put on the floor this year.

Honestly, I’m more distressed with what’s happening in baseball.

Basketball is little more than a filler between football and baseball seasons.  Where is the evidence that we’ve ever been or ever will be a serious national championship contender?  A deep tournament run once a decade is about all we can hope for and that doesn’t meet the criteria, IMO.

We have the chops of a baseball blue blood.  Correcting that buffoonery should be a much higher priority.

It’s strange to me how many people have said that because we haven’t been a traditional basketball power that we should not care about it.
