Feel free to support this sternest with anything other than your wish casting .

Meanwhile we have actual reporting and documentation that the Trump White House was more drugged up from the personal pharmacy than spring break in Bangkok.

Which White House had cocaine baggies left out?

These two issues (immigration, crime) are perfect examples of needing to separate reality from perception, polls, and rhetoric.

    1. Immigration - this is an area where I definitely align with wanting better immigration control, but look at what just happened LAST WEEK. The bipartisan legislation was shot down by the Republican Party and Trump.  If you really care about the issue, why in the world would you align yourself with Republicans. If anything, you could either be independent and vote for moderates on both sides, or just go Democrat because they've at least shown a willingness to do something. You are caught up in the Republican headlines that they are using to campaign, and not reality. With all of that said, if you had a totally Democrate controlled government, then there might be much more free flowing immigration, and hence why I'm independent and will vote for moderates from each party. I want immigration, but legal with people following rules that are rational.

    .

    Bipartisan legislation that was soft.

    2. Crime - there is no question some highly publicized decisions and situations have occured where Democrats have shown to be soft on crime, with things like high misdemeanor levels, soft sentences, etc.  But Republicans aren't doing anything to solve crime. They talk about it, but leave slums crime ridden. So why align with that? Align with moderates who solve problems.

I’m not sure what Republicans have to do with criminal justice policies and enforcement in Democratic dominated jurisdictions and the crime ridden state that results.

This thread does have potential. As an independent, I’m desperate to understand why someone would vote Republican at this point given the extremity, obstructiveness, and incompetence that the Republican Party is currently demonstrating.

However , I’m open to a real, substantive viewpoint. So why won’t you provide one? Your views may get shit on by the partisans on the left, but those of us who are moderate independents will give it an honest review. I think there are three of us on the entire site.

In summary, I think many will go with "law and order".

We have leadership at the federal that doesn't respect or enforce our own borders. On a state and local level distributed around the country we have similar leadership enacting policies that encourage crime.

You combine the two and you get situations like the nursing student in Georgia bludgeoned to death by an illegal immigrant that had been previously arrested for acting in a manner to injure a child less than 17 in NYC. Can you guess what happened? He got released.

Don't believe me, look at the polls.

Since you brought it up. I assumed you were an atheist to be so aggressively anti-Christian. I guess I didn't think you could adhere to another faith and be so antagonistic.

That's a great CR definition but the chick I cited on msnbc that got no pushback says it's someone who agrees with the founding principles of our country. That's messed up to me.

You should try again after actually thinking about what you write.

For example, I believe in natural rights that do not require governmental authority, but I think the Christian religion is a fraud. So no, believing in natural rights doesn't make you a Christian nationalist because it doesn't even make you a Christian.

As an atheist, do you believe that natural rights are not dependent on the government granting them?

  8. This appears to be a relatively new term, at least to me. This lady acts like this stuff wasn't the basis of the Declaration of Independence. Am I a Christian Nationalist to believe there are natural rights not dependent on approval of the government?

    That's pretty funny.

Not as funny as the phone number that just immediately played Smashmouth's "All Star" as soon as your call went through, but funny enough.

There used to be some number that would connect you to a randomly selected Swede, but it's now defunct.

    https://www.theswedishnumber.com/

It reminds me of the old school voicemail you get when you called a movie theater with the screen times. Or was that just in my small town?

And I just checked and they still have it. 😆

I believe Hallettsville, Jonathan Brooks' alma mater, is also 4A.  Lots of talent in the sub-5A schools, and if good enough for Choice . . . .

Agreed. Chapel Hill plays against better athletes as well. In retrospect it's kind of surprising it took him this long to be more of a focus. Almost 1,000 yds as a freshman, 2200 yds as a sophomore. 3 long playoff runs for his team.

Crystal Ballin': Entering in a prediction for one of Texas' top offensive targets in 2025

    Jordan Scruggs (Horns 247)

I’ve entered in a 247Sports Crystal Ball Prediction in favor of the Texas Longhorns to land Tyler Chapel Hill 2025 three-star running back Rickey Stewart.

Currently holding 21 offers, Stewart was a one-time SMU commit but his pledge to the Ponies didn’t last long. Stewart committed to SMU on June 11, 2023 before deciding to open it up on Jan. 31, 2024.

Timing with this recruitment is notable, as the Longhorns hosted Stewart on Jan. 20 for the Junior Day where he picked up his Texas offer just 11 days before announcing his decommitment from SMU.

Another factor in his decommitment was the absence of his primary recruiter at SMU in running backs coach Khenon Hall. Hall left University Park early into the offseason to take the same position along with the associate head coach title at Baylor. The move paid off for the Bears relatively quickly, as Baylor was able to flip Tyler Chapel Hill three-star ATH 2025 Demetrius Brisbon from his SMU pledge within weeks of Hall arriving in Waco.

Back to Stewart. All the buzz has been about Texas since Stewart took in the Forty Acres on Jan. 20 for the Longhorns’ Junior Day. According to sources, Stewart grew up pulling for the Longhorns and dreaming of landing an offer from Texas and since he’s received the offer there hasn't been much of any talk about other programs.

“It’s exciting,” Stewart said told Horns247 when he received the Texas offer on Jan 20. “It’s an experience I ain’t ever felt before. I was happy when I got the offer. Coach (Tashard) Choice and Coach Sark are two coaches that I’m going to build a better bond with, learn more about football (from).”

On the other end of it, Texas currently views Stewart as the No. 1 running back in the state for the 2025 class and history has shown that when Tashard Choice focuses on a guy, he very rarely tends to miss.

With all the variables at play here I’m under the impression that timing won’t be as important when it comes to the decision itself. Some think an announcement would come after official visits have been taken, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Stewart pop sometime before that.

While the visit hasn’t been fully finalized quite yet, Stewart is aiming to be in Austin on Apr. 20 for Texas’ annual Orange and White Spring game.

Stewart has been one of the most productive running backs in the nation after bursting onto the scene as a freshman in 2021. In three years of varsity play at the 4A-D1 level, Stewart has rushed for 6,098 yards and 64 touchdowns on 630 attempts (career avg. of 9.68 YPC) while also adding 400 receiving yards and 6 receiving touchdowns off of 28 catches (career avg. of 14.29 YPC).

This guy is beast. Killed our team in the playoffs. 4A level but plays in tough East Texas district/region. Figured immediately he was going somewhere bigger than SMU.

A British registered ship attacked in the Red Sea has been damaged but has not sunk, BBC Verify has discovered.

On Monday, Houthi fighters claimed to have sunk the Rubymar. It would have been the most significant incident since attacks on ships began in November.

But the BBC has obtained an image of the ship from Wednesday - which shows it still above water.

The vessel's owner said it was being towed to Djibouti but could still sink.

Ships in the Red Sea have come under regular attack in recent months. BBC analysis shows the attacks have continued despite the US and UK launching strikes on Houthis in Yemen.
