The old St. David's hospital building. There was an article about this a while back: https://austin.towers.net/on-17th-street-historic-austin-architecture-hides-in-plain-sight/?pro=caitlyn@towers.net
Rio House apartments. Best deal in all of Austin.

Big counties in Ohio still out.
Yes. It appears that the majority of the votes left are in the larger Biden leaning counties. I still think Ohio goes to Biden

Holy shit! The Outpost is excellent. They did a fantastic job all the way around. Script, cast, production... all 10's. The credits interviews are heart wrenching.
YouTube has the Medal of Honor ceremonies for Carter and Romesha, and a bunch of others. I ended up watching 10-15 of them

What’s the shaggy consensus on Leif Johnson Ford service?
Koenig lane service department was a nightmare the one time I used them. Lots of confused stupid assholes.
The quick service place off of ben white is good for the cheap oil changes if you bought your truck from them.

When I call 911 at 1:00 am because A COYOTE climbed up a spiral staircase and is trying to jimmy open my door, I should have a cop dispatched today, and in future Austin with "defunded police." Those police will be focused exclusively on calls regarding actual crime/serious risks of crime.

"If you were in hospice and had already been given a few weeks to live, and then you also were found to have COVID, that would be counted as a COVID death. It means technically even if you died of a clear alternate cause, but you had COVID at the same time, it's still listed as a COVID death. So, everyone who's listed as a COVID death doesn't mean that that was the cause of the death, but they had COVID at the time of the death." Dr. Ezike outlined

Also, if you haven't seen this interview with Sturgill and John it's pretty great. You can see how much Sturgill loves John Prine.

Just got an email saying the clinical pathology department is wanting to borrow certain types of qPCRs from the labs/departments that have them (which includes mine) for COVID-19 testing purposes. QuantStudio 3, for those interested in that sort of thing.
Anyhow, I wonder if this is going on at all the other similar places. Never thought about it, but those things are fairly pricey (I want to say something like 50-60k) and I suppose there aren't all THAT many of them. There were only three on the list.
The ABI Fast 7500 DX is a hot commodity right now since for a while that was the only machine specified by the CDC. I heard that Thermo was going to discontinue it but now they can't keep up with production.

It is wrong that I would expect the travis county data to be better basically 3 weeks into social distancing and nearly two weeks into lockdown. We are adding cases at an alarming rate, with most of them between teh ages of 20-50.
I have some colleagues that support testing labs in Texas and they have told me last week that the back log for tests was 4-5 days, so these numbers are also probably that far behind too.

The OxyContin family

Just saw this thread. Highly recommend Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe if you're interested in a full history of the Sackler Family and the rise of opioids. Spoiler alert, that family is full of shit bags.
