  1. As much as I hate dusty, can’t pin this one on him really. Just shit pitching, not easy to win games when you give up 4 home runs.
but the failure of this season falls squarely in his lap. He’ll be a case study on how to not to end your career… could have gone out on top. Instead he goes out in disgrace… deservedly so.

I want the Astros to win, but honestly missing the playoffs would be better for the overall team health. All these guys have played almost half a regular season of playoff games in the last 8 seasons.

Hopefully missing the playoffs will lead to the consequences needed to refocus for another 2-3 year run.

This is such an overexaggeration…. Who is on the 40 man today that was on the 2017 WS team, just 6 years ago?
Pretty sure it’s just three: Tuve, Bregman, and JV (and he missed a season because of Tj surgery).

    I don't hate Maldy.

I do question/ doubt/ dislike Dusty's management style/ decisions.  There is no Billy Beane to trade away his pet players.  It's fucking ludicrous.

Agree, no hate for maldy. I think he’s trying his best, it’s just not good enough. The hate falls purely on Dusty who clearly is not trying his best because he purposely spots the other team at least 5 auto-outs every game by playing him and other stupid line up decisions.

the death lineup is so obvious to everyone, we’re in a heated division race, and yet dusty refuses to play it while we keep losing. That’s so fucked.

also, lol at being able to trade away maldy. Ain’t no teams want him, would need to be something like that time Morey paid the Lakers to trade away Jeremy Lin. Or just dfa him

But we get through the trash faster. Now we start the bottom of the 5th with more trash than if had he walked or waited for a better pitch. You don’t want to save trash for later.

That’s how it’s playing out. But the only choice for Chas was to try and sac fly in the run. Otherwise it would get stranded. He had to swing at crap and try

there are several things that dusty does that i find horrifying, but one i particularly hate is how he subs out a guy and then feels like the sub has to bat in the same spot in the order as the injured player.  like when dubon led off on sat night.  he did that move a bunch earlier in the season but it had been a minute.

i'm sure it was covered but luckily i took the weekend off from this thread.

    nauseating.

It’s unfathomable to me that you can have some bat 1st in the order and then put them at 9th two days later. That’s some little league shit.

That’s called a sweep. Shitfucked by the youngest Yankee starting lineups since 1969, 5 rookies from that minor league system you guys talk so much shit about. And you better remember the Martian cause he’ll be probing you for years to come. Fucking fantastic weekend. I’m not saying the empire is back but it’s coming.

Enjoy trick or treating this October. Again.
Maybe we’ll join you this year, but I’ll probably need to buy a new costume. It’s been a while.

You people are insufferable. We aren’t out of the playoffs because of this sweep. Morons man.

No. Not because of this sweep. What’s concerning is that we’re in a dogfight for a winnable division and we have a manager that is playing suboptimal bats every game and making stupid decisions.  And it’s not just one tweak, it’s multiple. There is zero fucking reason dubey should be playing today. Yanier should starts. And don’t get me started on dumb shit like that challenge on fan interference. Make it make sense for me please.

As Tom Herman once said, winning is hard. It’s even harder when a stubborn dummy is in charge of decision making.

    Analytics !

Dusty Baker said the Astros “projections” showed Jon Singleton was projected to hit .275 off Clay Holmes. Chas McCormick was .220, Baker said. Baker was worried about Holmes running the sinker in on McCormick, and said “that’s why we have Singleton up here” to take those ABs

Can you fire a manager for following the numbers and not his gut ?

This is the stupidest shit ever. He was playing the odds that Singleton would draw a walk (that .275 has to be on base pct, nfw it is batting avg)?!? So Peña could fuck it up after him? Seriously?!?!  Gtfo dusty.

The way we play at home vs. on the road, I think we need to have the team stay in a hotel near MMP.

or Dusty can not just play a shit lineup with so many auto outs.
I mean seriously, Peña surprises us with a double, and there was no doubt that the triumvirate of suck Meyers, Maldo, and Dubon would never bring him in. I get that Altuve getting hurt couldn’t be predicted. But there is no fucking reason Meyers should ever see the field unless it’s an emergency.  Makes zero sense that both Chas and Brantley’s bats sat on the bench the whole game (besides the last at bat).

seattle has to cool down right? good grief.

They still have a series with the dodgers as well as 7 of their last 10 against the rangers with a series against us sandwiched in the middle. Frankly, if they win the division they’ll have earned it.
We just need to win every series, which is doable, and the division should be ours while the rangers and mariners beat each other up.

I was hoping Arizona would fade but they keep winning. That final series against them will be a dogfight as both teams seem like they’ll have something to play for.
