  1. Spent a week in Portugal last November as part of a San Sebastian / Rioja / Galicia trip.  Really enjoyed it, especially Porto, even though in general Spain has better food.  And even in cases where ingredients are similar in quality, restaurants in Spain seem to treat them better.  If you can sneak north to Galicia for a couple of days, you'll likely have some of the best seafood of your life.

That said, Cervejeria Ramiro in Lisbon was probably my favorite place to eat in Portugal.  Bustling seafood joint with all sorts of fun sea creatures to eat.  If you stick to percebes and various prawn-like things and maybe some Pata Negra, you'll have a blast.  Just be specific with qty, so you don't end up with a nasty surprise at the end of the meal, as some of the creatures are quite pricey.

In Porto, O Paparico was my favorite.  Somewhat modern with a great wine list.  One of the few restaurants with a substantial non-Portuguese list, though after chatting with the somm, we ended up going Portuguese and were happy.

Other places worth checking out: Boi Cavalo, Solar des Presuntos (old school and lots of fun), Gambrinus, O Galito, and maybe one or two of Jose Avillez's places.  Thought DOP was okay but people seem to really like it.

If you have time, Sintra is a fun day trip.

Drove up to Dallas today. Took 281. Saw cruz signs, no Beto signs through burnet and lampasas. Hit a whole slew of Beto in Hico. Or maybe it was Hamilton. Just kinda jumped out. Saw more Cruz signs on that drive than I have in all of Austin area. And the count was low either way.

Likely Hamilton.  Surprisingly strong Beto support there, at least based on Town Hall results.

  3. Highly recommend La Valise in Roma.  Only three rooms, but each is very well designed.  The suite on the top floor is my favorite and features a bed on rails, so you can slide it onto the patio and sleep outside.  Great location, too.

  4. Nice.  Occhipinti is in Austin, just between vintages.  Should be available next month.  Most ends up in restaurants, but I've seen it at the Austin Wine Merchant.

  5. Dry brine, fresh rosemary, and--right before going onto the grill--fennel pollen.  HEB doesn't carry fennel pollen, but it's available on Amazon and is basically fennel seeds on 'roids.  The rosemary / fennel combo results in a porchetta-like flavor.

Never used a vape but been thinking about getting one. Someone I previously spoke with also endorsed the Firefly. Do you have to use a new Concentrate Pad ever time you use the Firefly?

Nope.  In fact, I've been using this one somewhat heavily over the past 4 months and haven't changed it yet, though i probably should.  It's pretty easy to clean, though after time the residue does build up.  Kinda pricey but worth it, I think.  Also cool to be able to dial in the temp.

After using vape in Medellin with some Colorado peeps I had my guy get me some to vape along with my normal order.   He brought me gorilla girl scout cookies.  Its great.  Such a smooth relaxing high.  My sister and family were just there and she couldn't find it.

    Questions:

    1.  What is everyone's opinion of portable vaporizers for herb?  I was looking at a Pax 3.

You might want to take a look at the Firefly as well.  The new model, while still larger than the Pax, has come down in size.  I frequently use it as a portable.  It's pure convection and heats up in < 10 secs.
