  1. It absolutely was too long. Most movies are these days.

Really enjoyed it overall, but ultimately it's hollow. Anti-capitalist feminism brought to you by Mattel and Chevrolet!

    Spoiler

Her stepping out in her Birkenstock, signaling the rejection of hollow perfection in Barbieland in favor of imperfect personhood

, being perfectly framed with the Chevrolet bowtie was a perfect visual image of the whole farce.

A very very funny and clever farce, though.

  2. I love the whole "Bobby Petrino didn't come here to just run Jimbo's plays!" thing, like Petrino is someone they poached from Georgia or something. They poached him from Missouri State. And he wasn't there because of the scandal, he was already past that and he was there because he was fired from Louisville after Round 2 there and going 2-8 in his final year.

No offense, but fuck that noise. I don't give a shit about being an "SEC Blueblood," whatever that even means. We elevate them, all of them, simply by being there. We're the dominant brand in the SEC from the day we join, or rather, we transcend the SEC brand and none of the others do. Comparing the  prestige of Texas to somebody like Alabama or LSU is like comparing Apple to the Lakers and the Miami Heat.

    Absolutely. We're Texas.

When Texas A&M University announced last month that it had hired a director to revive its journalism school, it included the kind of fanfare usually reserved for college coaches and athletes.

The university set up maroon, silver and white balloons around a table outside its Academic Building for an official signing ceremony. It was there that Kathleen O. McElroy, a respected journalist with a long career, officially accepted the position to run the new program and teach as a tenured professor, pending approval from the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents.

McElroy, a 1981 Texas A&M graduate, was the director of the University of Texas at Austin’s School of Journalism between 2016 and 2022, where she is a tenured professor. Earlier, she spent 20 years in various editing roles at The New York Times until heading to UT-Austin to pursue her doctorate.

She has studied news media and race, with a focus on how to improve diversity and inclusion within newsrooms, and spent her career covering other areas like sports and obituaries. Her master's thesis focused on the obituaries of civil rights leaders. Now, she was excited to head back to her alma mater to build a brand new program there.

But in the last several weeks, McElroy told The Texas Tribune, the deal with Texas A&M fell apart.

In the days after the signing ceremony, she said, A&M employees told her an increasingly vocal network of constituents within the system were expressing issues with her experience at the Times and with her work on race and diversity in newsrooms, McElroy said.

When I clicked and saw she was black... hahaha fuck how did they ever thing these fucking inbred pieces of shit were ever going to be OK with this?? lol

Only my Texas A&M brethren will understand:  Great read….poor aggy, Arky, Neb., Mo., Colo.

“Sometimes you just have to get things off your chest. When Arkansas left the SWC in 1992, we didn't walk, we ran, to get away from Texas. I loved our rivalry with Texas, but the toxicity that all the SWC had to deal with at the time from UT made football not very fun at times. "How?" you ask. I wish I could explain it to you but I can't.

Many of the Big 12 current members refer to Texas as the "Evil Empire." I know my Texas ATM brethren understand this, and they are chastised for it, but all schools in the SEC will soon understand. I'm excited to have Oklahoma in the SEC, but Texas? I thought I was done with that.”

Holy shit they're saying "frick" over there like Mormon 11-year-olds.

Lol, we don't give a fuck where the first game is. They're the ones with thousands of posts on the topic. We just think it would be hilarious if it was in Austin after all the bitching and moaning coming out of that shithole.

Two different Ags texted me today in celebration that the game would be at Kyle.

We had never discussed it. They're so fucking excited... and weird.

Thus, all he did was boot out institutional knowledge and make his coaching job even harder next fall when he’s trying to familiarize 1/4 or more of the roster on the playbooks, schemes, etc., and get them to gel as a team.

What experience did the previous players have with Deion and his new coaching staff? Also, what institutional knowledge was important to preserve from a complete dogshit team?

We'll find out when the season plays out, I guess.

  8. You're given the Colorado job in December 2022, what do you do?

Option A: Stand mostly pat with the guys you've got from the 1-11 squad. Drive 'em down to Junction to Coach 'Em Up. They told the press they had a ton of fun going 1-11 but you're going to Lunchpail Coach 'em into success by god! They're gonna make a movie out of this!

Option B: Send the 1-11 players away. Fill up on SEC/FSU castaways. See if whatever got major program coaches excited in the first place is still in there somewhere and maybe you can pull it out of them with personality swag and promises of money in the future.

Me? I'm taking B every time.

There's no option where I entice Maye and Corum and Brock Bowers and Kool-Aid to transfer in. I'm at Colorado with limited money and a pathetic recent history.

  9. Not really a "joke", just how laughably inaccurate these "AI" chatbots are (especially Google's apparently). But it is a funny coincidence that annoying things like facts don't really matter too much to our Aggie friends. Well, usually. They're particularly dour and even-minded right now given the giant Jimbo cockslap they've received, so their usual unearned and prospectless enthusiasm is diminished.
