Someone on VT posted that Swindle posted on Tiktok that she has been in a boot for 3 months....so probably something more serious.

Damn, just shows how much of a baller she really is then...

If jumping bothered her then how was she able to block? Doesnt make much sense to me

  2. We lost this game on 3 turnovers and the  goal to go turnover on downs.

Wrong . Even with all that we had control of the game at the end..just needed another first down instead we played for a long field goal with a unreliable kicker. Glad he made but to put it in his shoulders 47 yards out was ridiculous. Pussy ass play calling

@royiv  I figured we would continue our discussion here. As @Steven Avery @JesusSweatDuck and @Gardner Barnes as well as others who have girls who either play volleyball in high school or college will tell you, if you are even at a mediocre high school and your kid doesn't have club experience, they won't make the team. You can't just wing it on raw talent alone. You need training. As @Steven Avery knows, there are quite a few kids at my daughter's school who play club and still didn't make the team. My daughter in particular is 5'10, 14 years old, and doesn't turn 15 until next summer. Last year in middle school she was the 5th highest leaper at her club, even amongst the high school girls. She clocked upper 40's on her spike speed at 13, and has played on top teams since 7th grade. She is on the AVCA phenom watchlist as is @Steven Avery's kid, who plays for one of the best clubs in the state.

So we would be doing a disservice to our kids if we didn't let them see this vball thing through. We are headed to the Tour of Texas 1&2 in Dallas and Austin, the Triple Crown which is invitation only for the 100 best clubs in the country(there are 5000 clubs across the US), Red Rock national qualifier in Vegas, Pacific NW national qualifier in Spokane, Lone Star national qualifier in Dallas, Far Western national qualifier in Reno, and USAV Nationals in Chicago. That's, hotels, traveling expenses, and food for 3 people for 8 away tournaments. But......it's what you have to do if you want your kid to develop, because iron sharpens iron. We don't like the system but it's the system we have. There are 4008 D1 scholarship'd players out there and this is how they all got there. There is no magic elixir.

Absolutely 100%, if volleyball is what your kid wants to do you have to do the club deal even to make the jr high school at most of these schools now.  Its expensive but fun lots of memories to be made. I came from travel baseball and volleyball has become very similar. You don't show up in 7th or 9th grade to make the baseball team or volleyball team, you have been better playing some high level ball if you are a real sports school.

I don't know anything about anyone's scholarship status, whether in recruiting or on the actual roster. I can always make guesses, but that's all they ever are. But @Gardner Barnes says she has a legitimate scholarship offer, and he has some personal connections with her, so I'm going to go with that.

Thanks just got caught up and saw he explained that. I am somewhat surprised as we played her club team a few times this past year and i watched them a bunch and i cant say I ever thought that was a UT level prospect, but then again I dont usually study liberos either.  I do know our team bet hers and we played with a jv level high school libero on a much lower profile team lol.

It feels like something of an exception for Texas to stay in state for their scholarship talent these days, so it says a lot about what the staff thinks of her they went after her right away. I’m looking forward to seeing her wear burnt orange in 2025.

Do we know if it was a scholarship offer and not a walk on offer?

Any thoughts on the setter in this video? is a HS Soph.

Impressive how well she sets out of system. Good blocker for being 5'8". I know it's a recruiting video but she makes the right decision more often than not.

Her athletism really shows up on the amount of out of system balls she gets, she runs down a lot and can keep the offense rolling. She is a very good blocker as a legit 5'9". Gabriel was what 5'6" when she admitted how tall she really was?

She is a smart player like you said as far as reading defenses and making the right calls.

She looks really good to me. It’s tough to know who Texas is even targeting prior to June 15, given the no contact rules. Even after that it can be something of a social media super sleuth game. Also, Texas has surprisingly targeted a very small number of in state players recently, to look out of state instead. But that doesn’t really mean anything. She’s listed at 5’10, although heights are notoriously fudged a bit.

If Texas ends up recruiting her I’ll remember this post, but to be honest there’s a ton of extremely talented sophomores Texas will never show any interest in. Just ends up being a numbers game, with way more talented players that want to play for Texas than the room available for them.

She is a legit 5'9" but plays bigger than she is with lots of blocks. Varsity starter on the basketball team as a freshman who did the opening tip jump ball.  Is a gamer and a competitor. A bigger Jenna type maybe.  Runs a 5-1 which allows her to attack well but can also run a 6-2 and is a good RS hitter.

Such a big disparity with the stats...I think it just shows it's time for a change at setter.

And btw, Jhenna admitted she's only 5'6 in an interview with Out of System...

Damn if she is only 5'6" then my 5'9-10 ish setter daughter should be golden lol

  9. I wish you and her the best and I certainly understand what you are saying. I am posting this only because I see the same naïveté here that we had when my daughter was playing 14s.

VB recruiting an undersized player is tough. It requires more outbound work than you will ever possibly imagine because she will be overlooked both at tounaments and on the lists that are curated but a group of coaches with a desire to promote thier own kids. Because she is a 26 it may be even harder. Covid year will result in a shitload of openings for 24 and 25s. A lot of teams will have a lot of young players when the 26s come around.

College coaches do NOT come find you if you are outside the prep 150. You have to go find them. She will have to outbound contact via Email and Twitter literally every week.

Trust me on this. We have been though it for the last 3 years with my 6’0 ‘22 and are about to start the process again with my 15s. If it wasn’t for the club we are on there is no way we get the press and lists activity we do. Although my 15 is 6’1” so it should be a bit eaiser for her.

As you may or may not know, there is a cabal of 20 or so clubs in the us that run shit. You mentioned two of them above. That makes it flat out harder for girls that don’t play for this clubs.

    I could go in for another 10000 words…. But I won’t.

I’ll leave you with this - just make sure you both are comfortable with the range of commitment locationsgoing back 5 years or so of whatever club you choose for 16s.

I’m also in the club scene and mine is 16. We won lone star regionals last year in 15 open playing for a no name club beating Houston Skyline Royal and Alamo Premier back to back in the semis and finals. We played at Nationals in the National Division which is second highest. We had college coaches all over our courts including Rice, Aggie, Baylor and many schools from all over. Very cool experience.

My daughter is a 5’9-5’10 setter..if she was 6ft she would be a big time recruit but I still think she will get an opportunity. We will see.

What club are you gardener barnes?

That guy you mentioned y’all were ranked higher than HJV? Hopefully you aren’t looking at AES rankings, those are worthless . You need to look at the lone star region rankings which shows stellar 14 if you are on 14 elite. This is what they use to seed tournaments.

Ha I recognize that court and team. HJV and Houston Stellar. Is that 14s? From the looks of it she should have played up with the freshman.

Rumor is once Skylar officially entered the portal with no intention of returning to Texas, Jerritt reached out to the Houston Skyline club recruiting coordinator that he was looking for a 6-rotation OH with NCAA experience to replace her. That same day Madi Skinner entered the portal. Some are suggesting it was no coincidence.

If true, Madi Skinner would be an excellent OH to replace Skylar. She’s 6’2, plays all 6 rotations, can pass the ball, and leaps out of the gym.  She can play on either pin and totally shredded us from the right pin in the National Championship match.

A line-up of Eggleston, Parra, and Skinner at the pins (with a 6’4 Devin to sub in for a bigger block) in a faster offense would be exciting to watch. Jerritt needs to close this deal with whatever NIL deal he can bring to the table…

So Jerritt reached out to Amy Burke who played for bird at aggy and is 100% aggy to the core about a need? Seems odd. Houston Skyline is aggy all the way.

  12. Sophia Simpson won two game for Barbers Hill against previously unbeaten Lake Creek(and aggy signed pitcher Emily Kennedy) and will playing in the state semi finals Friday at 10 or 1 in Austin.
