Derka is a fucking beating at times but you have a bad habit of inserting yourself into decent debates where you don't really take a side and simply take a superior moral or intellectual position and leave it there as if the rest of us are supposed to be impressed. You did it earlier today in the SMU game thread where we were talking about fanbases we hated and you posted this:

You didn't really offer anything to the conversation you just butted in to tell us that you don't like Penn State and Baylor because they both had complicated sexual assault scandals.

Congrats - what do you want? A fucking medal?

Maybe examine your own posting habits before you talk shit about someone that actually brings worth to the board and generates discussion.

I've never seen @Magus Ossis post some shit and thought "oh wow - I better read this!"

    Chill the fuck out.

I was trying to find different ways to offer advice to someone who looked to be hurting that I thought might lead that person to find a path that would be less painful with my recent posts. The ones about the rape programs were just straight up unsolicited opinion. Sorry if I offended with either.

  2. It is the rare internet denizen that engages in arguments ready to be swayed by evidence offered contrary to his opinion. Armed with this knowledge, those not enjoying the tilt may wish to consider how much they truly help themselves with each additional rejoinder, however compelling they find their own lines of reasoning.

I’m just going to go out on a limb here and posit that if someone is struggling with mental health issues, finds difficulty taking flack from internet strangers and has (justified or not) over a long period of time developed a persona on a particular forum that makes said flack much more likely to be received and much more likely to be of the extreme variety, then perhaps that someone should simply avoid that particular forum.

Can’t speak for anyone else here but, while I’m personally sympathetic to your struggles @Derka, none of us here have an obligation to treat you with bubble wrap or kiddie gloves. Immamac and blacklab are not your protectors. This place is what is it, you know better than anyone. Everyone is susceptible to shit talking and bashing here, including of the extremely personal variety (if you give any of these degenerates personal info to run with). You’re not special, I’m not special, no one is special in this no-man’s land. Accept it and either avoid this place or assume the risk.

I actually heard that you were special. Now you know, too. Congratulations.

@Magus Ossis we call a consult upon the Ortho Bro.

The average clavicle fracture will heal without surgery over the course of 2+ months. Some are bad enough they won't heal without surgery. With surgery in a young athlete, I would expect good healing within about 6 weeks.

I don't understand the game and why A&M has land but not ND.

Your land is given to whoever beats you each time you lose. The Aggies have taken land since losing their initial allotment. ND lost what it had when playing NIU and hasn't claimed enough new land yet I guess. If you beat people who already have a loss, they may have nothing to forfeit to you.

Dominant, an adjective. Example: The Longhorns are a dominant team.

Dominate, a verb. Example: The Longhorns dominate the SEC.

Dominate comes from the Latin adjectival dominatus (from the deponent dominor), and in addition to its most common usage as a verb, it can also be used in its more etymologically congruent sense of what we more commonly term dominant. Be careful correcting grammar or diction, lest you be corrected.

Just want to say, at the time this thread was created the Texas defense was ranked 61st (2020 season) in NCAA football, just behind Boston College and just ahead of Baylor.   I for one do not pile-on about the thread title.

I thought it was started after the 2020 season and before PK coached a down of D at Texas. I don't know/remember what the original title was. Those who expected him to field a D worthy of the Texas name in his first season and before NIL had a chance to overcome the Baggins clan might not have been entirely rational in their criticisms and/or expectations.

7 of their 10 top winning % coaches are from 1903-1928, the golden age of Aggie football.

Real men back then, no pussy things like helmets or co-eds.

Back when things didn't count, what with their being an all-male millaterry colludge.

Like I said I prefer 16 with no byes.

    Play and winners survive.

    That's fair. I like:

A field that includes the top 10-- no legit claimant to the NC should be left out.

A reward for winning the conference (the bye is a great reward IMO)

A chance for at least one Cinderella (the 5th conference champ is a good choice IMO)

Not so many teams that the importance of excellence in the regular season is diminished

In short, I like the 12-team field. But I understand that not everyone sees it my way.

12 is such a stupid fucking number of teams to start a playoff with.

Just go to 16 and get it over with.

Top 4 can get a by but I prefer all 16 play down to 2.

    Much better.

If you have 16 and give the top four a bye, you have 10 teams standing in the second round. 12 with byes basically is a 16-team format but kicking the bottom four teams out in recognition that they would never have won it.

  12. If refs don't call hits on QBs that are already sliding, they are begging for fights. No self-respecting OL is going to sit around and let guys take free shots at their QB. This was an officiating failure.
