  1. Not my wife but someone’s wife.  Figured that still applies.

Im playing golf this evening at Crystal Falls (Leander).  Hole #6 has a pretty big downslope and you can’t see about 40% of the fairway from the tee box.  I know there isn’t anyone playing in front of me so i go ahead and tee off.  I drive down the hill and notice there is a woman WALKING WITH HER BABY STROLLER ON THE CART PATH.  I stopped and let her know there are still people playing and she needs to be careful as she was walking right in the landing zone (my ball landed about 20 ft from her).  She proceeds to tell me she does this all the time and has never had an issue.  Also mentions that I need to be aware that people use the course for reasons other than golf...

Next time it happens, put her keys in your pocket and say nothing while she hunts for them.  Let her stew for four or five days, then quietly drop them in her purse.  Repeat as often as she leaves the keys in the door, varying your holding time.  It won't change her behavior, but it holds potential for entertainment.

    Looking forward to this.

Hi!   So there were some break-ins in the neighborhood around that time and the wife was a little bit worried about what would happen if she were home alone.   I showed her the basics of how to work my shotgun and that pretty much if she were just able to work the pump action that sound alone would be a pretty good theft deterrent.   So that night I went to store while she was sleeping.  When I came home and as I am walking into the living room she raises up from behind the kitchen counter and works the pump action and out of instinct I dive for cover behind the couch.   She starts laughing at me and I am like wtf, you don't point guns at people like that.   She was proud that she remembered how to do it and wanted to show off for me.  I asked her how she knew it wasn't loaded and she said she pulled the trigger and nothing happened.

    Damn

  4. My BIL works for Turo and it has been great for us.  Basically takes the hassle of rental car agencies out of the picture.  He delivers the car to us when we arrive at the airport and we drive off - super convenient.

  5. Wife left the car keys in the front door (on the outside) again overnight.  This is the 3rd or 4th time she has done it but I’m the asshole for fussing at her about it.  Anyone walking by could have easily seen it and taken the car.  Not to mention having access to the house (we own a lot of guns so that would be ill-advised).  But, again, I’m a jerk because I got mad about it.

OK, that lobster. Where is that?

Fair warning, We've probably stayed in that room. Look across to phase 2 and that corner unit on the ground floor by the party palapa. We'll be there in 3 weeks. Hopefully we'll make it through with no quinceaneras or weddings at the palapa.

Lobster is the Mariner plate at Bally Hoo.

  7. Not quoting any dialogue here but my wife and her sister were trying to plan an excursion while the 4 of us are in Mexico next week.

After listening to 45 minutes of indecision and talking in circles I had had enough.  I asked for the phone and requested that my brother in law take the phone.  We had the excursion planned and booked in 7 minutes.  Back to watching CWS.

Good list.  I'd add Inwood.   Calais can be interesting, too, if you get a reservation/time.  Right now, best Texas wines I had were some viognier blends and mourvedre from high plains.

I did taste some wines from Fall Creek recently, mostly grown fruit in Hill Country and I thought they were pretty darn good.  Not sure on price point.

We loved Calais.  Did that one, William Chris, and Kuhlman to start the day and were very impressed.  Hilmy was also good.  After that our pallets were pretty done so we called it a day and ended with cocktails at The Stable (recommended).

Not impressed by the visit or the wine?

By the wine.  Not that I hated the wine but I'm hoping there might be some hidden gems out there.  We drink a lot of cabs (justin, hall, etc) so are looking for good reds.

  10. Question for the wine snobs - which Fredericksburg (TX) vineyards are worth a visit?   I've done Grape Creek, Becker, etc. and have not been impressed at all.  The wife and I are going for the weekend.

  11. I'm sick of dudes who come to the gym and smell like something died.  Dude, I get it, it's the gym and you are sweating.  But holy shit I couldn't even finish my sets on the bench next to this one guy yesterday.  Just a quick swipe of deodorant will fix that.

Kind of in the same category as speakers at the gym - people who talk on speakerphone at the gym.  This bothers me everywhere but especially in the gym.  I don't need to hear about your drama with "Jason and his cousin" when I'm working out.  Fuck you - and fuck Jason and his cousin for that matter.

Where in Scottsdale are you staying?  How serious of a golfer are you?  What kind of meals are you looking for?  Do you need a recommendation for a romantic place to take the wife?  Let me know and I can try to fill in the blanks.

Staying in Carefree technically but plan to spend most of our time in Scottsdale.

I shoot mid 80s typically.  I’ll probably get 3 rounds over the 5 days we’ll be there before my wife gets mad.  She’s been clear that she’ll let me golf but we need to explore the area too.

Food-wise we are looking for local places.  A nice blend of fancy dinners and also some casual lunch spots.  We’re not picky about cuisine.  Good drinks are always a major plus.  Would definitely want one really nice place to take the wife.

I liked WeKoPa Saguaro better than the Troon course I played on my bachelor party. Troon was great though. So many quality courses in the area and many have two courses. Quintero, Greyhawk, Boulders, Troon, WeKoPa, TPC all have good reviews. Have a great time!

WeKoPa is definitely up there on the list.  We're staying in Carefree, AZ so it's pretty close by.  Appreciate the recs!

  14. Posted this in travel forum but figured I'd try here.

The wife and I are doing Scottsdale for our anniversary and she has given me 2 full days of golf.  I'm 100% sold on Troon North but am curious to know if there are any hidden gems I should check out?

Looking at maybe a round at TPC just because that's a fucking fun tournament to watch.
