  1. Did you guys find that the moccamaster makes a weaker cup? My girlfriend and I have been drinking french press and aero press and the moccamaster I got has not really impressed us. My girlfriend complains the coffee is watery compared to French press. I have the baratza encore so it’s a fine grinder for press and drip.
Do I need to change up the grind size? I played with that some but didn’t have much luck.
Adjust the bloom/soak time and drip rate with the basket controls. Of course, grind adjustment will also make a difference.

We have a technivorm and make our coffee very strong with this setup.

  2. Yeah, the food of poverty often turns out to be pretty good, then the word gets out, demand increases, and prices skyrocket. When I was in school, Buffalo wings at bw-3 were just 10¢ each on Tuesdays. A dozen wings for $1.20 was a good meal for a poor college student. (The wings and sauce were also really good back then.) I’m sure we could come up with lots of examples of what were traditionally cheaper cuts of meat. Didn’t brisket used to be one of those?

  3. I’ve had a set.  Good in the mud, they will be loud by the end.
I've had a couple of sets of these on an 06 Duramax, never noticed the sound, even when worn.

  4. Heading in for a couple days in late June. Anyone know of places we can just show up and eat at without reservations or a long wait?
Horseman's Haven for green chili cheeseburger or frito pie, be careful with the L2 tho

  6. Anything that's true ROYALLY pisses off 40% of our population, who are pointlessly defiant children.  Tell them it's hailing outside, and they should really stay inside, and they'll immediately run outside and claim that the sound of baseball chunks of ice cracking their skulls is "THE SOUND OF FREEDOM!!!!"
We are afflicted with 100 million oppositional defiant children.  It's fucking insane.

  7. Seriously though I am experiencing uncomfortable family stuff.  My wife’s sister and her husband are teacher and principal at a small school district in Texas. Both trumpkins and extreme anti vaccine anti mask people.  Had to tell them to fuck off when they wanted to come see my unvaccinated grandson this weekend, after their bar hopping with their unvaccinated UT daughter and unvaccinated son who works at a popular Austin restaurant.   Yeah, you’ve been exposed to thousands of people and don’t believe in vaccines, fuck off.  That’s where I am.
Those empty seats over there with the dumbasses?  Go sit in them. I want nothing to do with you.

  8. Yay, Oregon is closed again.

Last Friday, Brown said Oregon was experiencing a “fourth surge” of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations were nearing 300 patients statewide.
Brown said new COVID-19 variants are widespread and if she doesn’t act now, hospital systems and healthcare workers will be stretched to their limits treating these severe cases.
    Nothing to see here...

How does exponential growth work again?

  9.
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown announced Tuesday that she is designating 15 counties as “extreme risk” for COVID-19 spread, and imposing strict limits on restaurants, businesses, places of worship, and social gatherings. The restrictions are an attempt to curb a steep rise in cases and preserve hospital capacity statewide.
The new risk level designations will take effect Friday and last through at least May 6.
Most large cities in the state — Portland, Gresham, Eugene, Salem, Bend and Medford — are in extreme risk counties and will face the new restrictions.
Counties affected include: Baker, Clackamas, Columbia, Crook, Deschutes, Grant, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, Lane, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Polk and Wasco.
The extreme risk designation triggers stringent limits on many public activities, including an outright ban on indoor dining at restaurants.
The designation is based on county case rates and test positivity rates that indicate widespread COVID-19 transmission, as well as a statewide indicator that hospital capacity may be under strain: more than 300 COVID-19 patients hospitalized. As of Tuesday, 328 people were hospitalized for COVID-19.
Brown said she understands the impact of a closure yet again on businesses, and urged Oregonians to do their part by getting vaccinated.
“My goal is to lift these restrictions as soon as it is safely possible, and keep Oregon on the path for lifting most health and safety requirements by the end of June so we can fully reopen our economy,” she said.

Not too happy with Brown these days.  She manipulated the categories randomly to open schools.  And, yeah, I say this as a vaccinated person, but when I first signed up to get notified to get the vaccine it wasn't easy and there was a long wait.  Now there are walk in appointments available everywhere.  Perhaps I'm wrong, but if folks are making the choice at this stage to not get vaccinated I'm not sure that means it is OK to hurt businesses and their employees.  For many places this is going to be their third shutdown.
So schools should be closed but bars open? Or what do you think she should do when cases double in 2 weeks?
  10. Or that she believes it’s her duty as a wife to lie there and let her husband do his business for a couple minutes whenever he wants. And maybe she’s a member of a religious sect that doesn’t believe in birth control. And that sex is inherently dirty, an animal act, and only to be used for procreation and not for personal pleasure. She’s trapped in a loveless marriage to a man who couldn’t find her clitoris if he tried and doesn’t believe the female orgasm is a thing let alone that he might have a responsibility to pleasure her. So all she has is her love for her children and the only sexual satisfaction she ever gets is what she gives to herself over fantasies of the pool boy whenever no one else is around.
This is how you Surl, well done sir
