Dropped my 5th grader off at school this morning. There was a police cruiser parked out in front of the school entrance and two more out on the street. The cop by the entrance was waving at kids walking inside the building. Never seen that before.

From what I understand cops will be hanging out on campus through the last day of school.

Same here and we are 400+ miles away in the Piney Woods.  City patrol cars, Sheriff Dept and DPS were making it obvious they were present with the school cops.

  3. Has anyone tried the eye drops that are supposed to eliminate the need for reading glasses? They are called Vuity and require a prescription.

It’s not really a new drop, just new marketing.

It’s pilocarpine which has been used for decades to lower pressure in glaucoma. It fell out of favor because of headaches or brow aches that weee fairly common. It also decreases ability to see in low light situations so driving at night is pretty much out. A small effect of retinal tears or detachments is also documented.
  4. What is a realistic travel time from the ferry terminal in Holbox to the Cancun airport?   The published ferry schedule starts at 5 am and is hourly until roughly 8 am and then 30 min spacing for the rest of the day.   Is that close to accurate?  Are the private transports waiting in Chiquila to pick us up for the airport ride?  I don't get easily stressed but if I need to pad a 20 minute wait here, and a 20 minute wait there, I want to make sure I have a late enough departure.

  5. I'm gonna move south of Longview and start bitching about the humidity.

This is accurate. We were In Fredericksburg last weekend and more than once it was said that if we had the outdoor structures at the wineries at home (hour south of Longview) mold would be taking over.
  6. I did a tapa search for Fredericksburg yesterday with zero results. And now this is at the top of the feed. Alien stuff going on.

I’ll be in Fredericksburg In two weekends with a group for a birthday party. The weekend has been planned by the wives and I hope to be able to escape for at least an hour or two for my sanity. If I break away what are my options for downtime? Local bars? Food trucks off Main Street? All help will be appreciated! lol

  7. Avoid travelling on 287 at any point in Colorado then driving through Wise County. They've got SCMODS (plate readers that flag vehicles coming from drug zones(yeah, local PD scan all the dispensary customers). It's a massive techno invasion of freedoms. I know a really good attorney if you do.
I see 5 - 6 drug searches every week on my way to work. Pretty big one in Decatur last night. I forget the name of the network Wise Co subscribes to, but they know you're coming way before you get here. They plan the traffic stop for "unsafe equipment" and rehearse their script down pat before you pass Sunset. It's a nationwide integrated scanner tattle tale network available to those willing to subscribe. Sure it costs (ex$2000 a month, but we can haul in $20,000 a month for a baseline.) Profit!

Maybe I am extremely naive or ignorant or maybe both but how do these logistics work?

The PD’s in CO will scan license plates at dispensaries on 287 and then upload that data into a national database. I understand that. But how do the LE in Wise Co know my schedule?

If they miss me on my trip back but catch my plate a week later, do they just roll the dice and hope I haven’t unpacked my car?

If I stop and buy weed entering CO and have none left when I come back to Texas are they just shit out of luck when I’m pulled over?

I realize the potential for the 20K per month is there but it just seems like a very high rate of false positives based on license plate scans alone.

And full disclosure, I only have used the Amarillo to Raton route into CO but I assume the same license plate scans are still applicable.
