I really wish they'd stop trying to make Glen Powell happen. He's as milquetoast as they come.
All I could think of how much better that line "I'm going burn this whole building down" would be if the roles were reversed and it was delivered by Josh Brolin.

Makes sense but I don’t see a problem with some funds in high(er) yield dividend funds. I don’t mean chasing 10% yields but a solid ~4% on some of your bankroll isn’t bad. IMO.
i have about 10% of my investable assets in dividend stocks/funds. Not only do I like to reinvest the dividends, I find that when the dividend increases annually, the price somewhat rises by the same percent in a trend towards the previous yield. Dividends increase by 4%, you get that 4% price increase as well. I generally avoid dividends that don’t increase annually.
finally dividend investing has a game like feel. Say I want the avg monthly dividend to go up $5, I transfer over $1500 to buy a 4% yield. Perhaps I would spend that otherwise. $5 doesn’t buy you anything but repeat that buy regularly over a few years and it’s a decent amount. And you can still sell the funds if you want.
So, I've been researching this every single day for going on two weeks. I'll eat crow and admit I am changing my tune. My MIL recently passed away and my wife inherited all her assets. Since we want to minimize taxes on the inherited retirement funds, she is moving her mom's retirement to an inherited IRA. You have to drain it completely within 10 years but can do it on any schedule you like. We are putting a nice chunk in SPYI so that we can enjoy that dividend income. We will use it to offset my daughter's out of state tuition, which aligns perfectly with what my MIL would like since she was an instructor at ACC. SPYI dividends are also qualified so they're at the 15% rate which is also nice. When we retire in 6-7 years, we will not draw our own retirement until she cashes in the inherited IRA to minimize our total income and taxes those first couple of years.

when the pendulum swings back the other way, if it ever gets to, there needs to be significant action and reforms made with no holding back.
What party is going to have the ball sack to do that? The Dems? They're going to save us?

Then it's really a case of what the title company wants.
A Trust really shines in this situation.
Agreed.
Unluckily, there’s just the house, a bank account, a pension, and a 401K for assets. Luckily, there’s no debt at all. The funeral home said a week for the death certificate so closing shouldn’t be delayed at all. My wife was already a co-owner on the bank account. The 401K and any pension payout will be rolled into an inherited IRA for my wife. The timing works for our retirement in 6 years so that we could not draw our own retirement and just takes the required payout from the inherited IRA to minimize taxes that year.
The title company already sent updated documents for my wife to sign. I emailed at 9pm and it arrived at 7am. They must really want to get paid.-

I liked it but the ending simultaneously ties up a few loose ends and is tonally WTF. It is a much smaller movie than the trailers lead you to believe.
Also, after you watch it, you’ll understand why the porn parody will be called 28 Inches Later. Samson must’ve been splitting ladies in half with that hog.-

The TOD deed is automatic assuming it was properly acknowledged and hopefully filed. What do you mean by execute to TOD ?
The seller has also changed here, may make a difference to the title company.
It was filed with the county clerk. By execute, I just mean that I have to provide a death certificate for the transfer to happen. The title company is in the loop. -
As durable power of attorney, my wife is selling her mom’s house. It is under contract with closing scheduled for late July. The kicker is her mom just passed away. There is a transfer on death deed that will transfer the property to my wife.
My question is, can she proceed with the sale as the POA or do we have to execute the TOD deed prior to sale?

From what I've read, the manual stuffer is the way to go though. My grinder will do it, and I got a cheap foot switch to control things. So I'll probably try that first since I have it. But looking down the road, the manual route may be the way.
Shitty video quality but you don't need equipment...

My understanding is you can contribute up to $7k/yr to a custodial Roth IRA as long as the kid is earning at least $7k/yr. Is that accurate?
She's 18 so it's in her own Roth. Yes, She made $9K so she (I) could contribute the full $7K.

I think the biggest hurdle is selling shares vs keeping your current shares and cashing in the dividends.
My concern is that a lot of these high dividend funds just haven't been around long enough to get a good sense of true performance. Maybe when I retire in 7 years, I'll completely change my tune and move a large amount into SPYI, for example. I just have a hard time doing it with only 2 1/2 years of data available for back testing.

They are laser focused on central texas.
They should be laser focused on places like Colorado where you don't necessarily have water rights to land you own. You can buy raw land there relatively cheap when there are no water rights included. If the product performs as advertised, there's potentially a decent market there.
The kicker is how much is the water output tied to relative humidity. Are the output numbers assuming Texas coast humidity of 80%?

FWIW, I asked my son what he wanted to buy with the allowance he earned the past year... a Playstation 5? MetaQuest? Nope, he wanted to buy a something that follows the S&P index. He's 10 years old. I'm proud of him. So proud that I opened up an account for him and his sister this morning and funded it with $1,000. Now they both have a share of VOO, AMZN and AAPL.
My kid got her first part-time job in '24. I didn't tell her but I started a Roth IRA for her and contributed the full $7,000. I will do that every year until she graduates college. That'll be her college graduation gift.

Anyone north of 5 million but doesn’t have dividend income should check out SPYI, QQQI, IWMI, or even BTCI. 15% yield in first 3 and the last one is a bitcoin fund with 30%. They give you money monthly
Napkin math- 15% of 1 million is 150k. Divide by 12 months is $12,500.
Dividend income isn't free money. I'd rather just invest in solid index funds and withdraw my 5% a year. Funds that just chase ever increasing dividend payouts generally underperform index funds.

This was meh. It was the same scene recycled, what, 3-4 times? Go meet with and renege on the original deal. Offer new terms. Get denied. Something weird happens. Agree on new terms. Rinse and repeat.

So Washington State, Oregon State...
added Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, and Utah State.
now Texas State... i am seeing a pattern.
Isn’t that a rebranded MWC? -
The school consolidation virtual open house is next week. We are all getting proper fucked with this.
If you filled out the school consolidation survey a few weeks ago, there were several questions that tried to trick you into agreeing to consolidate your home school. Im sure they’ll pull out that data to show we want this.-

saw the well at central machine works on friday. they have a freakishly large outdoor stage. there were maybe 15 people who even cared that a band was playing. bad vibes all around in that place.
The Well seems like an odd band to book for the hipster douche bag crowd that’s usually at Central Machine Works. -

Can you get one night before? I know Glacier sells out of advance tickets months before. But each night around 7 they release quite a few for next day. As long as you log in by 9 or 10, you pretty much can always get a pass. Does RMNP do the same?
RMNP holds back 40% of tickets for the day before. For reference, when I got tickets last year, there were 180 passes available right at 7PM.
