  1. In the very least you would hope we get seriously involved. USC may think they have this one basically in the bag but we've seen how that goes on our end often enough to know things can change.
  2. Don't even get your hopes up. It is USC. They almost had him in the Winter portal but he wanted to see how that new defensive staff would come together first. Apparently he liked what he was hearing from people he knows on that roster. Unless something really crazy happens I doubt he even takes other visits. Maybe he will use it as an excuse to get some free travel in but USC came in way over market value to make sure this one doesn't turn into a bidding war with others. Obviously something could change but I've been expecting this one for weeks. This info per one of the bigger contributors to USC's NIL efforts.
  3. I am assuming all the Arkansas players hitting the portal are just planning to follow Muss to USC.
  4. Nope. That is what makes the NCAA such a laughing stock right now. The heart of the Tennessee investigation comes down to them flying a QB in for a meeting with their collective on a private jet owned by a booster. No one from the school itself was involved and this literally predated the national NCAA NIL guidelines anyway. It was during that wild west period. So even if the NCAA wanted to claim it would be a violation to do such a thing now it certainly was not then. The whole thing is a complete joke. You have kids being outright taken advantage of with predatory contracts that piss all over both the spirit and letter of the NIL regulations (state and NCAA both) not being investigated because then the NCAA might actually have to hand out a real punishment. Instead they are doing this smoke screen horseshit chasing after impermissible travel with both Tennessee and Florida State.
  5. It is a fairly meaningless distinction at this point but I'd argue Blue is RB1 going into Spring. He simply looked consistently better and more productive than Baxter when getting the ball. He didn't even seem appreciably worse at making it through contact than Baxter. It really doesn't matter though because both will feast if they stay healthy.
  6. At this point I really want us to circle back to Roach and just throw outrageous money at him. Like highest position coach in the country type money. Watch their heads explode even more.
  7. My understanding is Nansen is already under contract and the buyout for him to leave Texas is ~500K. That is what the Arizona side was saying during the HC buzz anyway.
  8. Eagles just finished getting anally ravaged to the extent they might actually fire that HC. Either way if the hire is Rocker we should find out tomorrow. No reason for the announcement to be delayed with their elimination.
  9. Yes. Every team can take players from the portal at any time. The only 'deadline' really would be the end of January which is the final point when kids can enroll in classes (so you need them on campus and enrolled by then if you want them to participate for the Spring). Bama could go out right now and the raid the roster of Washington or Arizona if they wanted. They can also still add players who were in the portal before it closed and have yet to find other landing spots. Losing their coach after the portal closed does hurt their ability to find replacements and it might end up decimating Arizona if their top kids follow Fisch to Washington but that is just unavoidable. There is also the Spring window (opens April ~15th) so its not like these schools making late coaching changes do not still have plenty of opportunities to fill holes that are created by the transition.
  10. With the way this fucking Cowboys game is going he might be gettable after today (/s)
  11. I think it is more likely Blackwell that would hit the portal in April than having any real issues with Gbenda. Good chance Gbenda won't be starting anyway if we move Hill to MIKE as some seem to think is likely. Both guys on the two deep at MIKE and WILL are going to play roughly the same snap count anyway. You add Manu into that mix and the one pushed out is most likely Blackwell since I would expect Manu / Gbenda is your MIKE and Hill would then stay at Will with Leafu / Blackwell competing for backup spot (with Blackwell probably hitting the portal if it doesn't look good for him). I have no idea if we will even make a real effort for Manu so not worth worrying about (yet). Would be as big an upgrade or perhaps even bigger than the addition of adding Mukuba though.
  12. Nansen is hopefully already on the phone with Jacob Manu. Exactly the kind of LB addition our room needs and a monstrous upgrade over Gbenda. I get it might push a couple of guys out in the Spring portal if we add him but it is worth it. Bring that mother fucker over here. He took massive steps forward in 2023 and was first team All-PAC.
  13. Williams means a hell of a lot more to Auburn than he does us. Huge optics win for them if they can pull it off and a giant direct fuck you to Bama. Also gives them a real shot as they try to flip Lacey. Put all that together and it is just very hard for me to imagine Texas offering anything close to what Auburn likely will. It is like how Texas viewed Simmons this cycle. We weren't going to let ourselves be beat out even if things became unreasonable. Auburn is that way with Williams. But they are also... Auburn. So maybe we have a chance. I really doubt it personally.
  14. What details are you even talking about? Literally the only thing known at this point is that the extension is four years. That was in the text of the announcement tweet itself (posted above). There are no additional details to post or anything worth discussing until we get the actual details which is unlikely until the BOR formally approve it and it gets released to the public.
