  1. You should know their comeback to this is, "We are supposed to be better than them", "Why are you comparing us to them?", "Do you want us to be like them?", etc.
  2. You can be Donald Trump posting on a message board. This site can be run by Daniel Figurelli. Laws can be made because people are racists. All of congress can be racists, the president who signs the bill can be racist, the supreme court who rule on the constitutionality of the laws can be racists. Racists, racists, racists. This is a fun game.
  3. They can be motivated by the temperature of the room, that doesn't mean they are. They CAN be motivated by anything, but you are just making an assumption.
  4. So just to recap, you are unsure if there are any racist laws or not. But the laws that we do have are racist because the immigration regime we have is racist and enforcing the laws is racist. Also, when the laws were written, they became racist laws because the people who passed the law were racist nationalists.
  5. So it's a hypothetical racist law that he is hypothetically supporting. Got it.
  6. Then I asked which laws are racist. I agreed separating families is targeted at Mexican and Central American immigrants is racist but as someone else pointed out, it's not actually a law.
  7. If I cannot support either, I will not just vote for the sake of voting.
  8. You were the one who said the laws are racist. I just want to know HOW they are racist. Last time I checked the laws were the same for all non-citizens. Enforcing the laws is not racist. Choosing who to enforce them on and not enforce them on based on their race is. They need to enforce them equally on everyone (which I do not think they do, but believe they should).
  9. I think you are misunderstanding me, I don't need proof that separating families is racist. I need to know what laws are racist. Do not agree.
  10. I support upholding the law and changing the laws that need to be changed. I didn't vote for Trump, and I'll vote on a case by case basis this November. If I don't agree with either, I will abstain.
  11. So what does this have to do with saying that immigration laws are racist? I already said this policy is awful and that I was against it. A judge ordered them to be returned and the people in charge of that are dragging their feet or saying they lost track of them. I said on another thread that this is being used as a deterrent and children are being returned if their parents agree to voluntary deportation. Not sure what you are trying to convince me of.
  12. I do not want separating families to be enforced. I do want all of if he other laws enforced.
  13. Separating families is a policy I don't agree with and would agree is targeted to Mexican and Central American illegal immigrants. What other immigration laws are racist though?
  14. I know that. I thought you wanted to know how it would be implemented if the amendment was repealed.
  15. It couldn't be retroactive. Issue a United States ID to citizens and people with permanent residence. As long as one of the parents of a child has a valid USID, the child is a citizen.
  16. *disclaimer: I do not agree with or support this policy. They are using it as a deterrent. Come here and we'll take your kids away. We'll return them if you agree to be deported. If not, we don't know what happened to your kids, sorry.
  17. Never have or will vote straight R or D. It takes forever but I view them on a case by case basis.
  18. Wait a minute, you're telling me that there are racists among southern whites?
  19. In my experience, a lot of academics only know the theoretical side of the subject they teach. My EE professors would take take the calculations as gospel on how something works and then when it was actually put into practice, it didn't work. Their minds were blown that it didn't work. The best professors I had were the ones that had real work experience, not just school.
  20. My response was to the people claiming that they discharged them because they are targeting immigrants. Maybe they did, but then again maybe they didn't.
