We all had to take the ASVAB in HS for some reason

It was optional at my high school and I did it to get out of algebra that morning. Big mistake as I had recruiters bugging me for the next few months.

Brauninger spent a solid hour today bemoaning his point that college football is broken because of NIL and transfers without penalty. "It's a house of cards that could fall at any time." I guess if you can't beat them, join them, take your ball and go home.

Did Nuno also take time off for mental health reasons?

This staff sucks. Who am I missing?

OC (Klein): B-. Advanced metrics aren't bad but only 2 years of playcalling experience and it's an odd fit at A&M when you factor in the offensive style.

OL (Cushing): B-. P5 experience at Northwestern and Duke. Doesn't seem like a great recruiter but decent developer. Feels like there were a lot of bigger names that A&M could have hired here that didn't have his baggage from the Northwestern days.

RB (Taylor): C-. Known as a bagman which has little value now in the NIL world. This is aggys new version of Dameyune Craig?

DL (Spencer): B+. P5 experience at Florida, Penn State, Vanderbilt. Coached in the NFL. Looks like a good recruiter but development/coaching looks questionable after being fired at Florida and bad defensive lines with the Giants. I'll give Spencer a B+ since he looks like a plus recruiter.

DB (Aristide): C+. Very limited coaching experience but looks like a decent recruiter that players like. Feels like a comfort hire.

DC/LB (Bateman): D-. 0 top 25 defenses in 11 years as a DC. If he's calling plays this is a truly dreadful hire.

Very on brand for them to hire a recruiter over development for the DL coach.

Cheap Chinese guitars with a reputation for punching way above their price point.  Like, in all the "best guitar value" threads on thegearpage.com, Harley Benton is always heavily mentioned as a cheap brand providing a good guitar that can be upgraded to be a great guitar.  They are pretty unashamed about their plagiarism of well-known brands, and are sold exclusively through Thomann in Germany.  They generally cost anywhere from $80 to $350 depending on the model/line/features and apparently have no quality control whatsoever.  They make up for it by having a 30 day return for any reason policy to get a full refund.  You will have to pay to ship it back.  From the people that regularly buy these things, they say it is somewhat of a crap shoot as to what you get, with maybe 3 out of every 4 guitars being keepers with the 4th one having some sort of issue that isn't cheaply curable.  They just return those.

That is why I bought from from their US-located Reverb store.  The guitar has already made it to the states.  Turnaround time to receive the guitar is about like that of any US E-tailer.  If I want to return it, I am only paying to ship it to Connecticut vs Germany.

My sample size of 1 guitar basically aligns with what everyone was saying on TGP.  The HB HSH Fusion cost $350, played well out of the box, and really good after a basic set up.  It would have needed some nut work and a fret polish and its playability would have been great and at least close to that of the guitar it is a rip off of, the 10x as expensive Suhr Modern Pro which I have owned.  It sounded like ass, though, and would have needed to have at least its pickups replaced if not all of its electronics to get anywhere close.  With the original purchase price of the guitar and some new pickups, I would have exceeded the $650 I paid for a Mark Holcomb PRS SE I recently bought which plays and sounds really good with no work.  They were both vying to be my high gain guitar for recording, and I wasn't ever going to keep both.  So I returned the Harley Benton. I was impressed enough by its playability to try something else from them. I don't have anything with filtertrons, so the $249 Cabronita tele is on its way.

HB did a knockoff jim root jazzmaster and it was completely fucked.

I mean, I can see why Arch would transfer:

He's a backup to a quarterback that has gotten immensely better working under Sark. Maalik is gone. Texas has all of the momentum in college football and is headed to the playoffs with a chance at a national title. Sark and co have built a team that is solid for years to come from the inside out, we're headed to the SEC next year, and fan and media interest is at a fever pitch. Every time he touches the ball the crowd goes crazy. Arch's social media presence is insane, and DKR and Texas have an incredible media reach and scale that few other schools can match. Also his family is squarely focused on him taking school and football slowly and learning from the best.

But yeah, he's totally transferring. 🙄

And his little brother just got into Texas. It's all a smokescreen.

No NM HS QB should ever be taken seriously unless he does ok at a Juco first.  The level of competition is so low. Who’s the NM HS QB that has had the most success?  Landry Jones?

Landry and Everett probably at the top in my lifetime of following NM HS. Bobby Newcomb had 15 minutes.  Current NMSU qb is from Albuquerque. Probably missed someone from a Clovis or Roswell that did something.

It's slim pickins in that state.

The recruiting is pretty bad. I remember when Charlie just got hired and he was trying to get this tall white dude to commit or stick to us and he chose Minnesota. Forgot his name. Same vibes from melko

This hits close to home as gentry went to my high school....Eldorado.

Respectfully disagree. The West Valley is shitty unless you moved from the Midwest and think Red Robin is fine dining. I have never found anything redeeming west of the 17 and that comes from someone who is a PHX stan.

Eh it's not terrible. It's not the best but it's hardly a wasteland.  Granted I have kids,  over 40,  and not looking to party every weekend.  I do like being up here to get out of Phoenix in the summer. That's my entire motivation for staying up here.  I can go to Scottsdale anytime as the 101 is just seconds away.

The premise of my original post was the proximity to the north.  Chandler/gilbert are just way too far (for my liking) to make an easy exit. It then turned into defending it.  I get it,  it's not amazing and if you are single or enjoy some variety, anything west of I17 leaves something to be desired. It's home for me.  I have little to complain about.

Do not listen to anyone who suggests Glendale or Peoria as a good place to live. The West Valley is where your soul goes to die. Cave Creek and Carefree have some cool things up there, but would absolutely suck as a single person unless you're a retired snowbird.

You can live in Peoria out by the 303 and its not bad.  Glendale up by T Bird and its cool.  I'm not talking Westgate or Grand.

  10. Move north to Phoenix/Peoria/Glendale/Scottsdale or if you feel very adventurous go to cave creek/carefree. You will save yourself drive time getting out of Phoenix in the summer to go to Prescott/Sedona/flagstaff.
