Trivia for the day.
--------------
The most recent instance of both an NBA and a WNBA team from the same city holding the No. 1 overall picks in their respective drafts occurred in 2025. In that year, the Dallas Mavericks secured the top pick in the NBA Draft and are expected to select Duke standout Cooper Flagg. Simultaneously, the Dallas Wings won the WNBA Draft Lottery and selected UConn star Paige Bueckers with the first overall pick.
Prior to this, the only other occurrence was in 2003 when the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Rockers both held the No. 1 picks. The Cavaliers famously selected LeBron James, while the Rockers chose LaToya Thomas. Unfortunately, the Rockers folded after that season.
Thus, Dallas in 2025 became only the second city in history to achieve this rare dual No. 1 draft pick milestone.

Oh for fuck's sake. It's something every single game with that team. Porter has a giant sling on his should and supposedly can't lift his arm except when he's on offense.
I fully expect Gordon to play and be fine.
Oh, the drama. It's like they're all Willis Reed cosplay or some shit.
No excuses Bro.
Shouldn't even be Game 7 with this team...
Still waiting for OKC to prove they're worth the hype honestly.
At least Knick Fan have been even more ridiculous shutting down NY just because they made the East Finals over a team who lost their best player games ago.

The Knicks being good and doing it with the Nova guys make them a fun team to watch. The Pacers are really cool too though.
I'm sorry, I know it's exciting and all, but you're the Fucking Knicks...you have history. WTF you acting like you even won the Conference yet? Save this shit for the Finals.
There's like 2 more rounds, and I'm probably picking the Pacers.

Still not enough to be talking all the shit she talks.
Oh absolutely! I've repeatedly said she's a elite level Role Player, not a super star. But her fans/the rivalry, keeps pushing her as such.

"Fo no damned reason"
No, there's a very logical reason. Dallas gets ratings. They will always be the top of the list of primetime games. Sure, these can be flexed out if they flat out suck like they have before but networks want Dallas as often as they can. This is why Jerry doesn't care about actually winning.
Sorry the sarcasm didn't come through the screen...I'm sure there are people who complaining about how much the Cowboys are prime time/3:25 afternoon games.

Mississippi State of course...

NFL wastes a lot f potentially great matchups by showcasing big ratings teams opening week. It's stupid. People don't need a sexy matchup for game 1. They just want a return to football.
The first couple of regular season games are basically like preseason games when NFL had useful preseason. Teams are a total clusterfuck.
When I am commissioner my rule will be zero division games in the first two weeks, and particular division matchups should be separated by at least 4 weeks, first half and second half games. Shouldn't be that hard to do. There should be weeks where virtually every NFL game is a divisional matchup, and vice versa.
Get back to giving a rat's ass about the integrity of the game over what gets more casual shitfaces to watch NFL on some shitty streaming platform they are whoring for.
And fuck a bunch of Christmas games on Netflix...tar and feather that piece of shit Goodell..
Agreed. Exactly what I was saying. Could be Jax vs Arizona and it's going to do ratings.

Laker fan here. No. I’d give LeBron and Bronny for Flagg and Gafford
That's not enough...to take Bronny off your hands alone would require your best 1st round pick you can offer. And throw in Reeves and it'll be close.
Honestly watch Dallas/Lakers do some deal with Gafford. Not sure what the fuck Dallas could get back as Reeves or Luka, obviously, is all that's worth anything on that team now(lebron at 40 no thanks)

I think the Wings made the right moves, and adding Paige, will get them into the backend of the playoffs. But too many new pieces and too young to really challenge.
And honestly, if Arike doesn't become more of a catch and shoot player more selective, it'll be bad. Last year I know she was basically the only offense for chunks of the year...but she can't be chucking them in and out of games. She's an amazing scorer, but has to be more efficient.

Totally pulling for the Nuggets comeback. Get Jokic a chance to revenge their loss to Minny last year, and another title befitting someone who should probably be a 4 time consecutive MVP.
And It may just be my OKC bias...I just don't like a team that acts like it's arrived and done shit, when they haven't made it out the 2nd round ever with this current roster.

Is she actually elite at rebounding or just gaming rebounds by all her own terrible misses that hit the bottom or side of rim and go right back to her?
Bro what? She absolutely can't make short shots/layups but she is a damned good rebounder. It's not just her own misses.
C'mon be real.
23 hours ago, Im_smarter_then_you said:I don't think there's gaming at all. She legitimately can't make layups. She sucks. This isn't like Russell Westbrook boxing out teammates for rebounds
yeah this...she hasn't learned yet, and may never, that getting the rebound, even within 3 feet, and passing it back to the outside to get another shot with a new clock is infinitely better than going up 3-5 times herself.
Last year there was NEVER a reason she should have lead the Sky with shot. Average 12 plus shots a game on 38-40% shooting from 5 feet or less? It's horrendous.
This year they have better ball handlers and guards, and Cardosa should have been the focal point of that offense, not Reese.

I could see him sounding like madden tbh
Yeah I don't think he can't do it...just want to hear it before getting hyped. He pulls the look...but the mannerisms and voice matter for that.

Assuming Nico doesn’t fuck it up and Mavs draft Cooper, the big question is who runs point until Kyrie returns.
Different scenarios I have seen/heard being thrown out:Just roll with Brandon Williams
Sign a vet free agent like Schroeder, Tyus Jones, Malcolm Brogden
Make a trade: Colby White (would love) Derrick White (hate the contract), Anfernee Simons (not really a PG but I like him).
Most likely assets to be used in a trade would be Gafford, PJ, Hardy, picks, and possibly Klay depending on the deal. Somehow Dwight Powell’s expiring won’t be used in a deal and he will remain a Mav
I like Gafford but he seems the most logical to move. PJ is streaky on offense but I love what he has done as a Mav and would hate to see him go but he now seems the odd man out. I like Klay as a player, not attached to him as a Mav.
I definitely stopped watching/caring after the Luka trade and I really have missed it. I hate the owners/Nico and pisses me off they lucked in to the # pick but I like having a little hope again for the team.
Starting 5: Ky (when healthy), Klay, Cooper, AD, Lively
My dream scenario is to Trade AD(they won't) and keep PJ to be the 4(his natural spot). Flagg/PJ/Lively is damned good defensively, rebounding, and even scoring to varying degrees.
I would absolutely take Colby White and even White(even with that contract) to keep them afloat until Kyrie is back. Even a guy like Schroder fits too...I'm sure they'll find some ball handler between now and the season.
When Healthy Ky/Klay/Cooper/PJ/Lively and still a decent bench with Naji and the like.
I don't think they'll sit klay...but if they get a Derek or Colby White player, it's probaby Ky/White starting and Klay/Naji/Omax/Powell off the bench. I'm probalby missing guys but that's still a very solid team with a mix of young and vets and a future. Who absolutely could contend next year if Flagg is close to what they think.
But yea, the'll keep AD, trade Gafford/PJ and probalby get a guard back to hold the fort and maybe some future assets and roll with Ky/Klay/Cooper/AD/Lively and a good bench(still good IF everyone is healthy. a legit threat.
6 hours ago, Dbeasy said:Mavs need to boot Klay. He’s worthless. And they need to fire Nico for signing him.
Man WTF for his salary and asked to do WAY more than he was expected, he was perfectly fine. I hope they don't feel they HAVE to start him, but they probably will.
3 hours ago, LurkingHorn said:Klay would have absolutely been helpful if we had kept the roster in place. Look at Klay's numbers when Luka came back in December. He had one dud game against Memphis, but after that and up until Luka got hurt, he shot 51% from 3 and averaged 18 points per game. That was all while averaging only 25 minutes per game.
OH yeah Klay, at his salary, was a good player for them, considering he was asked to play more, and do more, than he was supposed to.
GOD I wanted to see this team fully realized with Luka. Even with the Lively/Gafford injuries, and even with Ky being hurt...they still make the playoffs and give the Thunder a run.

Gee wonder what team they keep pushing for no damned reason...
The cowboys have 7 Prime time games(for now) the final game of the season is tbd...and if the Cowboys are good they'll probably flex some game late.
Add in all the 3:25 stars and they keep putting them in the national window.

If the Quinn Ewers thread keeps opening up on your computer and forcing you to post on it, try shutting down and restarting your system. That should clear up the problem. If not, your computer may have a virus.
I so love when people respond with this stupid shit.
It was a fucking question on how this thread could have possible grown since the draft, and in the last 2-3 days without anything happening at all...

OH absolutely. Just to start another civil war on social media between their fanbases.
1 hour ago, Pam Cummings said:Well maybe the fact that this is the Caitlin Clark thread and you all can't quit talking about Angel Reese in it makes her point somewhat valid.
Fair.
I like Angel too...that's what sucks. If the girl would learn to not take 12 plus shots a game while shooting 38-40% from 5 feet or less, she'd be so much more valuable and taken more seriously. She's a super high level role player(ELITE rebounding and very good to great defense) on a title contender. Not the star despite her clout, and she doesn't understand that yet.

That does NOT look like Christina Bale. And Cage is pulling off a younger Madden. Need to hear his voice/cadence though.

Are the ratings struggling?
They didn't need Dallas on opening night...Jax/Miami would bring ratings.
They don't have to have Dallas/KC...Dallas and the Cardinals would be huge.

How the fuck has this thread grown 10 pages since sunday, if not more...and this many since the end of the draft. Jesus.
