Mavericks at Floore this Saturday. I've never seen them live so I'm looking forward to it. Plus it's Floore's, so venue always adds a good vibe.

How was it?  The Mavericks are a fantastic live show.

What a weird post. A texag thread from 16 years ago and an article from 21 years ago. Surely you can find much more recent examples of unfounded aggy speculation.

  3. Per the DMN, there is a $150 million renovation of the Cotton Bowl to take place over the next 2 years, with construction paused during the 2024 Fair.  Replacing the ramps inside the stadium with some other mechanisms for getting spectators to the upper sections.  This is supposed to result in increased areas of the concourse and more concession and bathroom areas.  Completion date is supposed to be before the '25 game, but '24 may be an absolute shitshow.

  4. Maybe I have an over-simplistic worldview, but it seems to me that the public risk created by  illegal business practices  -- not just the provable harm actually caused  --  is a strong factor in determining the appropriate remedy.  Business laws and regulations exist for the purpose of protecting consumers from unethical practices and to minimize potential damage to the public generally (i.e. adverse economic impacts).  We have all seen what can happen, for instance, when there is not proper oversight and enforcement of regulations in the banking industry.  Persistent, repeated failure to stay within the boundaries should result in severe sanctions.

If a lawyer misuses client trust funds, the lawyer is subject to discipline, regardless of whether the funds were later replaced.  If the lawyer does it repeatedly, disbarment is appropriate.  The privilege of having a law license has been forfeited. Even though no actual harm may have occurred, the lawyer's actions, if unchecked, have created a substantial risk of harm to the client, and to the public in general if others follow suit.

Somebody already mentioned this I guess, but it was the fake injury that stopped our momentum.   Why do we let stuff like that affect us, but we do.

Hate to disagree, but the injury was not a fake. Watch the play again. After the collision with Worthy  Bowman is clearly dazed. He got up but went back down. It had the same effect but he was legit out of it for a few seconds. That's not the guy OU wanted to leave the field.

  6. On the last drive the play calling was fine. We easily moved down the field. It all changed on the sack. Once it got to 3rd and 9 there is a difficult choice on how aggressive to be. There is a big difference between a 50+ yard FG and one from 45 or so. Main goal is to get in FG range to take the lead. And by running the ball we made OU use their last time out. It was the more conservative call, but not indefensible.

  7. On our last drive, after Worthy's catch for a first down, Bowman from OU was hurt and went down.  The clock was at 2:35.  No timeout was called, but the clock stopped for the injury.  Shouldn't the game clock have restarted as soon as the ref marked the ball ready for play?  The play clock started but the game clock did not.

One of the biggest mistakes of the entire game was snapping the ball with 20 seconds on the play clock on 3rd and 9 before the last field goal. If you are playing for a field goal there, you don't do that.

OU had called timeout.  Play clock didn't affect the game clock.

I took the bar exam on a gaming laptop because I knew it had the power to handle the exam software, even if the software was very poorly optimized. You think I’m going to go into the most important test of my life with a Chromebook?

I took the bar exam with a bluebook and no. 2 pencil.

And his lawyer stands beside him as he slanders the presiding judge. Good strategy for seeking favor with the Court.

And presumably the DC Judge will consider this in ruling on a gag order.

  11. Agree that the volume was down from the last game. Constant music was still annoying but tolerable.

And props to the DJ for Steely Dan's "You go back, Jack, and do it again" when Stone had to re-kick because the ball fell off the tee.
