I know a lot of chicks who love Los Lobos, especially after seeing them live.   Something about the coolness of Cesar combined with Steve Berlin's sax playing.  It was one of my college girlfriend's favorite bands, right behind Dylan and Tom Petty.  Saw them about a year ago and the crowd was 50-50.

The average age was probably 50 also.

Same.  I may have sprayed when burning off the gunk.  The season on the lid will break off pretty easily.  I have to brush mine down or it will end up on the meat.

I take my cactus burner and burn it out a couple of times a year.

  3. Bingo Ank!:

1 cup apple cider vinegar, 1/2 cup yellow mustard, 1/4 cup finely minced white onion, 2 cloves of garlic finely minced or pureed, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce, 1/2 cup packed brown sugar, 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp tabasco.

Combine in a sauce pan and heat to incorporate.  Let it cool and I usually pour through a fine mesh screen to remove the onions and garlic solids so it will keep in the fridge longer.

  4. I vote yes on going ahead with the Cajun Bandit upgrade.

In addition to what baboontyme said,

The Raven nitrile gloves sold by Amazon are the best I have found.

Insulated rotisserie gloves make handling hot briskets and butts a whole lot easier

At least two food grade bus tubs

A couple of cafeteria serving trays come in handy also.

    Roll of pink butcher paper

Oh, exact same thing with deciding on the movies at home.  We've got a library of 1000+ titles.

"okay, we've got this for comedy, this for drama, this for action, these 3 ive been meaning to watch, etc...which do you want"

"i dont know, why dont you just pick"

"how about you pick this time"

    "no"

5 minutes in .... "this movie is sooo bad why do you always choose bad ones"

Look at her with a completely deadpan expression and say, "Making poor choices in life is apparently what I do."

  6. The lessons in leadership that Winters gives are profound, like when he was chewing Buck Compton out for gambling with the troops:

    Winters: You were gambling, Buck.
Buck: So what? Soldiers do that. I don't deserve a reprimand for it.
    Winters: What if you'd won?
    Buck: What?
Winters: What if you'd won? Never put yourself in a position where you can take from these men.

My wife has been asking for help learning to use the smoker. So, Memorial Day I walked her though firing up the WSM and she did 3 whole chickens plus another 8 or so leg quarters.

Have you gone mad?  You are taking away one of the last bastions of husbandly alone time.

I say this because my oldest daughter has really gotten into horse back riding, and I'm guessing a horse might be in the future. Despite living in Arizona and Texas my entire life, I know not a damn thing about horses, excepting of course what I've read in Larry McMurtry novels.

Prepare to spend a lot of money on an ongoing basis.
