Hard to get excited about a guy that doesn't really want to run, but is doing it because he rather not have to raise his kids.

So original.

Rockets and Astros about to go up for bidding. Don't see 790 hanging onto them much longer.
-
Shumpert fucking sucks. Should have played more Faried and Capela together, since you love to switch your best rebounder 30' away from the basket.
-
Looks like the Texans resigned Seantrel Henderson and they have moved Rankins to C.

Spoiler
Tashaun Gipson, S, Houston Texans
The deal: Three years, $22.5 million with $11.3 million guaranteed at signing
Grade: BIf the Texans were going to lose Tyrann Mathieu, Gipson at nearly half of the price is a good fallback plan. It was a bit of a surprise when the Jaguars cut the 28-year-old safety, especially because they cut fellow starter Barry Church in midseason from what had been the league's most dominant secondary the previous season.
Gipson made his name in Cleveland as a ball hawk after intercepting 11 passes in 27 games from 2013-14, but even given legitimate ball skills, he hasn't been able to keep up that interception rate. He has just eight picks over the ensuing 61 games, although he did knock away seven passes in each of the past two seasons. He also didn't miss a game during his three years in Jacksonville, so for a sturdy, above-average veteran safety, the Texans came away with a good price given the rest of the market. If Gipson can spike a five-interception season during the deal, even better.
SpoilerBradley Roby, CB, Houston Texans
The deal: One year, $10 million
Grade: BWith the Texans losing Kareem Jackson to free agency and Johnathan Josephturning 35 next month, Houston needed to address its cornerback situation. In part, that's because it doesn't trust the cornerback it invested in last offseason, since Aaron Colvin ended the season as a healthy scratch in the playoff loss to the Colts. You have to figure the Texans will try to restore Colvin to the slot corner role in 2019, but they needed to find at least one cornerback this offseason.
I like the addition of Roby, who looked to be one of the league's most promising young cornerbacks before a frustrating 2018. I would have preferred the Texans to come away with at least an option year to go with this one-year pact, but the $10 million price tag is reasonable for a 26-year-old cornerback who has missed just one game in five seasons and looked to be ascending for most of his career.

Is this a real post? He had a knee strain and was questionable for the game, as well as having shot 70% on ft's this season.
Just above 70% is pretty shitty for a NBA guard.

KD is such a fucking contradiction sometimes. He wanted to grow and move to new surroundings, but wants to simply play basketball and be left alone for the most part from the media cycle, yet he makes one of the most controversial free agent moves in history and continues to sign short-term deals. Going to NYC would be dumb IMO but the allure of bringing a championship to NYC would cement his legacy. It would be bigger than Lebron winning for Cleveland because it's NYC. That's the allure but he'd be miserable a lot of the time, IMO.
The problem with that is the Knicks are more than 2 max contracts away from being a contender. They are in the same place as the Lakers, who even if they add another max guy with Lebron, they are likely the 6th best team in the West.

Locke didn't play nickel against WVU. That was Josh Thompson.
Yep. Locke was busy at safety because Jones was fucking around before the game. But to be fair, Sterns was awful that day, too.

It appears you are allowed to roll over cap indefinitely.
The Texans have an additional $18.8M they can use on contracts, so that puts their total cap space at $207M. They do have to spend 89% of the cap, but that only applies to the $188.2M NFL cap. So if they spent only $167.498M, they could roll over something like $39.502 towards next year.
It appears right now the Texans are at $165M in contracts, I'm not sure with that includes yesterday's signings, but it would appear they have plenty of money to spend, but at the same time, the should consider continue to roll over money for when Watson's contract needs to get redone.

We all know D'Antoni plays a short bench so I think we should be looking at what that rotation would be come playoff time. He isn't playing 9-10 guys in the playoffs.
Harden
CP3
Tucker
Gordon
Capella
Bench: Rivers, Faried and Green(in no order)
Next 3: Shumpert, House, Nene(in no order)
It will be hard for the last 3 to find minutes come the playoffs being realistic anyways.
Yep, but this team is much better equipped to handle the injury problem that killed the Rockets last year.

The Texans are batshit stupid, when it comes building a team. But how the da fuck you look to the Browns for anything involving football sense? They haven’t won shit yet.and neither have the Texans, and the Texans had to give them 2 high level draft picks to recover from their stupidity.

You mean the Browns under John Dorsey that stocked a motherlode of talent in his last stop in KC for Andy Reid. You bet your ass I am. The Browns are the clear favorite to win the AFC North. I’m excited for their fans. We here in Houston continue to suffer under poor ownership, horrible coaching and poor roster construction. The OL was the worst I have seen and O’Brien has never had a good offense in the NFL. Thank God for Tom Herman, Sam Ehlinger and the rest of the Horns. They’re going to save the fall football season. We will win 6 games next year with the way we’re going. Hopefully that’ll lead to O’Brien being fired finally.
Let's be honest, the biggest reasons the Texans won the division were that Mariota can't stay healthy, Luck took a couple of months to get back into game shape, and Bortles fell off the cliff. Talent wise, the Texans probably have the worst roster in the South.

I was under the impression the ship had sailed on signing House. Not trying to be sarcastic or anything, I thought I heard on the Dunc'd On podcast that the Rockets FO had kinda bungled the situation.
They had until in the end of the season to convert his contract to make him eligible for the playoffs. I think as mentioned up thread, that the money now makes sense, especially since it's unlikely that Capela makes his defensive rebounding and FT bonuses.
Both parties were to blame, as the Rockets offered House a 3 year deal, but House wanted to become a RFA next season based on him excelling in the Rocket's system.

Someone's bubble popped
It still bugs me how 4 teams get boned for playing in Dayton instead of getting the full experience and getting their shit pushed in by a 1 seed.
Dayton should be called the bubble off. Fill all of the 11s with teams that win the Dayton games. Power conference schools already get the entire season to make a resume...the 1 bid league schools who go to Dayton have to win the conference.
Yeah, I could see this as a better idea. that making two sets of 16s play each other. I would also make it so that half the bids go to mid majors that won their regular season conference but lost their tournament, as long as they had a Top 50 net.

I think it has more to do with how little salary will go against the tax at this point, so there is no danger of going over and risking repeater status next year.
For whatever reason, I am happy they did it.
I like the potential rotation of Paul, Harden, Gordon, Tucker, Capela, Green, Faried, House, Rivers, and Nene.

Maybe they got tired of Shumpert looking completely disinterested on the court.

Pathetic signing. The guy is average at best. Let’s see if he is a healthy scratch for games like Aaron Colvin was this past yearWhich would be an upgrade to what we had last year. He was listed as the 5th best CB available in FA. Go sign another one, and draft at least one in the draft, hopefully Boyd.

5-Star CB Kelee Ringo ready for Aggies to play bigger role in recruitment
Nick Krueger
Nick
When it comes to Texas A&M’s recruitment of five-star cornerback Kelee Ringo, there’s good news and there’s bad news.
The good news is that he said the Aggies are very much a candidate for his commitment, which he has no plans of making until after his senior season. The bad news is that the Aggies are competing with a Longhorns team that has already gotten a head start recruiting him to the state of Texas, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to holding serve with some of the other top programs that are after him.
“It works against [A&M] just a little bit,” Ringo said of Texas having a bigger presence in his recruitment so far. “I don’t feel like that is going to be a big factor, though. It’s going to be all about where I’m more comfortable and where I like most.”
The good news there is that Ringo said that the next time he makes a trip to the Lone Star State, it will be to Texas A&M. The less-than-good news is that visit is still yet to be determined but he knows for sure that his next visit will be to Oklahoma and he plans on going to Georgia’s spring game on April 20.
Such is the process when recruiting such a high-profile prospect. Where A&M has made progress with Ringo is the staff’s efforts to go visit him until he makes his first trip to College Station.
He estimated that Aggies defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist had been out to see him within the last month and their rapport is heading in a more positive direction this spring.
“Things have been pretty good so far, honestly,” Ringo said. “Ultimately, he wants me out there for a visit. I like Texas A&M a lot - I also like Texas - but the scenery all around the state, it’s just great overall. Me and Coach Mo have built up a great relationship and I feel like if I take a visit out there, A&M will be a school that I take a harder look at.”
Ringo said that the only school that he knows he is going to take an official visit to is Texas. Although the Aggies offered him in spring of 2018, it’s only been recently that the staff has picked up the pace in recruiting him. He added that as long as things continue trending the way that they currently are, A&M has a shot at playing a bigger part in his considerations.
“At first, Coach Linguist and A&M weren’t talking to me as much early in the process,” he said. “They’ve been getting on me more now. I feel like me and Coach Linguist are really building a good relationship and I feel like that could make me look at them more, for sure.”
Probably explains why most threads are Jay and Nick talking to themselves. I feel sorry for them, because that place is empty. Hamm took his fans with him.

Everyone agrees Shaka is a good recruiter, which is true, insofar as he’s good at landing the guys he targets. But a huge aspect of overall recruiting is evaluating, and Shaka’s proven to be pretty horrible in that regard. Look at the guys Shaka’s signed that aren’t 5 stars or close to it: Jacob Young, Royce Hamm, Banks, Coleman, Simms, Febres. The jury’s still out on the 2018 class (and I generally like the takes from that one). obviously Hayes was a great eval, but overall, Shaka’s evaluating has been pretty poor, especially when you look at the list of guys from Texas chose to pass up, like Edwards, Zaire Smith, Culver, etc.
Obviously development is a huge factor, which I’d say falls more under coaching, but the 2-4 year guys Shaka recruited in his first couple classes are pretty underwhelming.
Edwards, Smith, and Culver would likely look like Young, Febres, and Coleman after being developed by Smart.

Nah he can just drive drunk and nearly kill innocent women. I mean the only thing from really keeping from being the "mexican" Kennedy is the girl in his truck that night actually lived.
Going to be hilarious reading through this thread after Robert Francis loses again.
