There are people involved with recruiting who have been saying that this guy is bad news for months. You’re letting the player and his family off the hook.
I don’t follow the daily ups and downs that closely, but Ojo stating publicly a few months ago that he was Texas’s priority OT/OL in this class, given how long the staff had been on Turntine, was off-putting at the time and made me lukewarm on him (that was the first time I’d heard his name).
Give me the guy that didn’t feel any need to respond to Ojo’s statement, who is a better actual player, and who was choosing between Texas, Michigan and Stanford (probably the top three I’d encourage my kid to consider) every day of the week. That’s an easy pick.
And yeah, I get that people are more annoyed that his bullshit may have cost the program other guys than they are about not getting him specifically. But I’m also not worried that Sark/Flood/Texas will figure it out.

She shows her players card and I give them my cell number since im mostly the driver. They will immediately send a text to respond to when you are ready for your vehicle. A few hours later it's time to go. I respond to text and immediately get automated response that we owe 20 bucks instead of the usual your vehicle will be here in 5 to 10 min. I go over to the valet ticket counter inside and ask what's going on. This little motherfucker manning the booth bowed up and said it's always been that way and we will need to pay to get our car. I responded nope not paying. He tried to argue and I shut him down pretty quick. He then ask if I wanted to speak to a supervisor. I said "absofuckinglutely I do" and walked off to get my wife's players card because I knew they were going to need it eventually. We come back to the counter and there is a female supervisor. I ask her what was going on and she said we needed to pay, where is your ticket and players club. I put them on the counter she grabbed them stamped paid on the ticket and told me that if I ever cuss one of her employees again I was banned. I told her that I didn't cuss anyone. Immediately that guy popped around the corner, tears in his eyes, lips shivering and said, "you said absofuckinglutely". I responded, you ask me a question. I grabbed my valet ticket looked at him and said you are a pussy. Last thing I heard was that women yelling "you're banned, you're banned". Another supervisor brought the car around and told me the same. lol.

I was on campus the same time as Priest. I saw him at the bus stop outside of Jester in early '95. I remember him as not being very impressive from the standpoint of D1 running back. I was standing next to him and thinking, "I am in better shape then this guy."
I remember seeing Ricky Williams for the first over by the old social work building one day, just in passing. I remember thinking that I’d never seen anyone that looked anything like this guy ever in terms of his body proportions. Like, to the point where the pattern-recognition conventions my brain had invented to identify humans as human weren’t really working. I hadn’t felt so physically inadequate since the day I tried to pick up a teenaged lifeguard at Splashtown when I was 11.

Is he at one of those “game rooms” in a strip mall? Looks like the spot next to Teotihuacan on West Belfort. What a dipshit.

This is TexAgs-level moral victory rationalizing. It's up there with "we didn't land the kid, but at least him going to [insert big program here] proves our coaches can evaluate" from the Strong days. And I guess it's going to be repeated ad nauseum once we lose Perry-Wright and Turntine the same way we lost Edwards.
And I don't know why we're even talking about Wafle. USC and Ohio State are offering him two-year, $2.5 million NIL deals and he's going to one of those schools. But I guess they had to get in a bidding war so it's actually fantastic for us, or something.

1 hour ago, Teryor said:The Longhorns laid out the exact plan for how they'd progress Carlton from an early enrollee to an eventual NFL Draft pick and it reciprocated incredibly well with the 6-foot-4.5, 260 pounder who owns a wingspan north of seven feet and could end up at either EDGE or defensive line if he was to end up at Texas. Carlton will be the first person in his family to attend college so the academics side of the visit that focused on Carlton's major (communications) and what he can do after college also reciprocated quite well with Carlton and his mother.
I think “resonated” is the word he’s looking for.

While it’s tempting to laugh at this, I’m still a little reluctant to be totally dismissive of the idea that this guy could be any good, because I’ve been around long enough to recall many of us mocking the K-State fan almost 20 years ago on HornFans who was hyping up this incredible white WR with blazing speed they had. We made Teddy Lehman jokes I think. Then Jordy Nelson had 100+ yards receiving and returned a punt for a TD and Texas got its ass kicked at home by KSt. I think we pretty unanimously gave that K-State guy props on HF after that for calling his shot, not much else to do.

Maybe if he'd have ever had a meaningful hit in an Astros uniform in all the different playoff games he got to play in I'd give half a shit. But he didn't and I don't.
He had a .874 OPS with 4 HR in 16 postseason games in 2021 (pennant-winning team). That wasn’t all meaningless.

Yeah, but in fairness, that OU team held a really good USC offense to 55 points.
