Update of sorts.

Just got a call from mom.  She has an iPhone 8 she will not ever give up, because it has a button.   She is on our ATT phone plan.  I have an iPhone 15 Pro. I have wifi calling turned on, and my phone is connected to work wifi.

She's blissfully unaware there is an ATT outage. Said she had talked to a couple of her friends today (no idea if they are on ATT or whatever).

So, some credence to the 4G/LTE vs 5G phone possibility thing I mentioned earlier.

Wife(no pics) has a iPhone 15 pro and is having no issues, although my kids 12 and 13 don't have service.  The issue/rumor of a sim card database registry kind of makes sense at this point.

2. Challenger named Chevo Pastrano against Erin Zwiener in Hays county as well.  In my part of Hays Dems are getting salty about it.  Could be close.

3. It seems their podcast has already been taken down (or it previously failed). But GOOD NEWS you can still find their book on Good Reads!

Bestselling authors Jamie Ivey (host of the Happy Hour podcast) and Aaron Ivey have asked these tough questions too, and by God's grace and a lot of elbow grease, they've come out on the other side with a strong and healthy marriage. In  Complement , you'll learn how you can too, as they walk you through the keys to building a satisfying and lasting marriage. With funny, real-life stories and key insights from Scripture, the Iveys can help you unite with your spouse, cheer each other on, respond the right way when you fail each other, and serve one another well—even in conflict or tough times! If you want a strong marriage (or simply to be a better better-half!), the Iveys will show you the way in  Complement.

She was currently on a book tour for a new book being released tomorrow.

My understanding is that here podcast was fairly successful among the evangelical crowd. Looks like they are scrubbing social media and podcasts.

4. Yeah, this one hits real fucking close to home.  We used to be part of the evangelical community in Austin.  Haven't been for 10+ years, but know this person and his family.  On top of that, the family lives in our community and their kids(adopted and biological) go to school with my kids.  This is going to be a fucking mess...not unlike any of the other 100's of issues like this, but now my kids are close to it.

Just for clarification....fuck that guy.

It’s ok, it was dealt with and under the blood of Jesus.

“I want to express how deeply grieved I am that my past sins led to so much pain, confusion and division,” he wrote in the post. “Some may wonder why I am just now making a public statement 20+ years later? It was because I was recently confronted about things I said or did 20+ years ago – things I believed were dealt with and under the blood of Jesus.”

Read that they are hosting a pep rally for the border convoy dorks this evening. Watch out for wannabe Rittenhouses.

The owner is way more involved than just being on the scene.  He was one of the 30 unindicated co-conspirators.  He was responsible for PowerPoint that was circulated around DC on ways to stay in power.

"The House select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol announced Thursday that it subpoenaed James P. “Phil” Waldron, a retired Army colonel who spread misinformation about election fraud and circulated a PowerPoint document detailing ways to undermine the 2020 presidential election outcome."

If only.

It's a fight every time. And he lies about it. Luckily, he's such a slob and is such an inept liar that we can always tell whether he's telling us the truth based on what kind of mess is (or isn't) in the sink.

And he's unwilling to take any feedback or advice from us. He has an electric toothbrush (pulsates every 30 seconds to tell him to move to a new quadrant) but refuses to turn it on, so instead, it's just a big, heavy manual toothbrush with an exceptionally small, round brush.

And he brushes so hard that he mangles the heads in just a week or two. So it's also far more expensive than a normal toothbrush.

Sounds like my 17 yr old....all of it.

It's been less than two weeks since I last excised a tumor from this same location.

At least you are getting him to brush his teeth.  I still have to bug my teenagers about that shit.  It is the most disgusting issue in our house.  My wife(no pics) and I have no idea where the "I don't need to brush my teeth" comes from, especially since we ask them every god damn day.

9. God that area is bad these days. I’m driving thru there later today as well. Will try to remember to report back on any dumbshittery.

It is pretty close to 50/50. The people committing dumbshittery are the loudest.

I think the owner of that distillery was one of the ones that were close to being indicted for Jan 6th. Apparently he made the power point that was circulated in Washington.

Dripping Springs ISD now closed to “water issues” all across the district.

Yep, the WTCPUA had a mechanical failure.  They supply a lot of the areas East of Dripping, which includes 3 elementary schools and a middle school.

We were out drinking in north Austin sometime in the 90s. Bar closed. We're out in the parking lot after 2am bull-shitting. Suddenly we see a wide line of white light coming across the sky from west to east. Had no idea what it was. Found out the next day it was the space shuttle heading for a landing in Florida.

Remember that as well.  It was insanely bright.

The thing I hate about Apple Maps is how spot on they are with my ETA. I used to think I could beat the clock and I've tried to speed and really cut corners, and will maybe gain 1 minute-- 2 tops.

Waze has a setting to take previous drives into consideration.  Don't know if apple does too.  Waze gets pretty damn close on timing, especially on less than 3 hour trips.

13. 1978horn That looks delicious!

Did the oven roux last night.  It went well with a few caveats.  It took way more than 2 hours at 350.  Even after 3, though dark, it wasn't as dark as I usually like it.  Of course, I can get there tomorrow on the cooktop, I guess.  It was nice to not have to stand and stir it for an hour-and-a-half.  But if I'd been in a hurry, I'd have been better off just making it on the cooktop and storing it.

Got my veggies and sausage diced/cut up.  Homemade turkey stock is defrosting.  I should be able to just heat things up and go tomorrow.

I stand and stir fast at a higher heat and only for about 35-45 min.

It’s so good this way I just can’t try the oven method at my core.
