    Seems that way.

Although just wishcasting, the staff could have a point. We like to rotate defensive line and finding 4 high school guys each year isn't possible without paying a shitload of money and neglecting other positions. We originally brought in guys like Swanson who needed development and by the time they started to put on enough weight (got to the talent level needed), they transferred. Maybe the staff just wants to focus on a couple of players and then fill up with the best available without breaking the bank. So we end up with the two best guys the staff can get and then some fluff. Then, each year we get rid of our own fluff and bring in guys like Swanson after they have begun to develop. Probably not true, but at least it sounds somewhat reasonable right up to the point of getting all fluff and no big time studs at DT.

Swanson transferred because he still wasn’t good enough to play much. You can’t fill up on bread that never pans out. Sark is staying true to form by staying on the guys he wants and not settling, we’ll see how it turns out. I expect him and staff to keep hanging around the guys he misses on to see if he can get a late flip based on a successful season and possibly a disastrous one by someone else.

  2. I don’t know man, I’m frustrated too but I think there’s a difference between the market and desperate idiots overpaying. There are real estate listings all the time that are just bait and every once in awhile some moron pays twice what something is worth. I like to think that the University of Texas has smart people in the right places to know the difference.

Gerry is confident we'll get 2-3 and probably a project like DJ Sanders, so I'm remaining hopeful.

Maybe I didn’t hear correctly but I thought Gerry has said we need to get 3 of our targets there. I haven’t heard him say he’s confident we’ll get them. Zion’s girlfriend is going to LSU and I’m afraid he’s thinking with the wrong head. I don’t know that we lead with any of the others except maybe Brown and that’s debatable.

This.  The few veterans I know/knew said that was by far the most accurate portrayal of the Normandy invasion.  Frank Denius once told us, "It was 100%, spot-on in terms of sight and sound.  Except for the smell and I don't ever want to know that smell again so that's okay with me."

Funny you mention this, an old supervisor of mine took his old man to see this at the theater when it came out. He had stormed the Omaha beach. He had tears coming down his face when that scene was played and he told his son, I smell dead bodies.

  5. So I tried to do some homework before posting and read a few pages back. There was a chart from 2023 that showed some sections were $500 donation along with $1000 seat. I realize prices change but is that a realistic price for say TD club? $1500 a seat or am I way off because I’m not thinking of something else. I’m not a Texas ex but my son is a senior and my daughter will be a freshman next year so I figured it might be something we’d invest in.

Daughter just got her acceptance letter to UT nursing. She had almost resigned herself to going somewhere else because acceptance is so difficult. We’re beyond proud of her but she’s a little hesitant to fully commit right now. I think she’s a little shocked but also nervous about leaving home for the first time. My son will be a senior Biology/ pre med track student so I think the transition will be fine. I just don’t think this is something she can pass up.

Btw, she’s ranked #3 out of about 750. She’s taken as many sciences (all Ap or pre-AP) as she was able to, but I think what put her over the top was her experience at CAMP camp and her essay about her experiences there. For those of you who have kids that want to give them a life changing lesson, think about having them sign up as a counselor. Counselors are 1 on 1 with a special needs child for a week. My daughter was administering food through a feeding tube, changing diapers if needed, helping with showers or sponge baths, and getting children ready for the day. It’s a real camp with swimming and horseback riding for kids that don’t normally qualify for camps. As much as the kids get out of this, the counselors get even more. My daughter still keeps in touch with one of her “campers” and even went to her birthday party. Just sharing for future applicants.
