  1. Never made it past 1. Vince is the greatest college football player to play the game. The oline was tough. A great backfield w experienced Selvin explosive Taylor and another young great Charles. The defense was stout. The secondary was well second to none. It’s no contest. Hook ‘em.

No news to any fan of the Texas Longhorns. We can go ahead and change that 20 year headline to all time. 2005 Vince Young will never be duplicated. He had the supporting cast to make it the greatest team ever. No homer. It was a privilege to be on campus and witness most of it first hand. Hook ‘em.

Note the maybe. Laughs right after a guy admits to changing his mind. He’s not the only one. I can’t help but notice the laughter and complaints are from a certain type of poster that can’t even defend their positions any longer on the politics board. It’s the equivalent of taking your ball and going home once you realize the game will be a rout.

We went through a long period where there wasn’t significant ideological differences between major party candidates.  Both party candidates embraced traditional American values and democracy (for the most part).

    There was a ton of common ground shared between Clinton/Bush, Clinton/Dole, Gore/Bush, Kerry/Bush, Obama/McCain, Obama/Romney.

It had a demoralization effect on a lot people presupposing everything would be fine as long as a major party candidate won.  There’s no way we’d get an overt traitor to American values on the ballot among the major parties.  Not only did we get one but people didn’t even notice his anti-American positions and authoritarian tendencies when they were on display, repeatedly.

People gravitated to Trump’s energy because it was so new and different from anything we’ve seen before.  His messaging was very seductive and everyone was already familiar with the media personality Donald Trump.

Despite the desperation for something new and different, I think most Americans had strong enough faith in our institutions to check the president should anything go terribly wrong. They rolled the dice with Trump because Hillary was the epitome of “same old same old”.  Unfortunately, most Trump voters didn’t appreciate just how fragile democracy is and were unable to recognize the threats when they showed up.  This was mostly due to the ideological common ground among the parties over the last few generations.

So what happens next? Whether people agree w you or not it’s obvious you’re well informed...

Something to think about: our electronic voting machines rolled out in the last few decades have never been particularly secure. There was heaps of evidence that Diebold was a money sucking, incompetent shitshow of an organization that couldn't deploy a secure system if their lives depended on it. (To be fair, I'm not sure how many of our voting machines today were deployed by Diebold). At any rate, we've never experienced a significant security breach in our voting machines that materially impacted voting counts or altered election outcomes. I suspect the reason for this is the most obvious one that comes to mind: what stops foreign actors from hacking our voting system has never been the technical challenge, but rather a really low likelihood of being able to get away with it. For instance, I've got no doubt that Putin's hackers could seriously change voting counts, but I really doubt they've ever tried.

But all bets are off if Trump establishes a political climate that would allow a foreign actor like Putin to get away with actually hacking our voting systems. Trump seems to be setting Putin up to be able to get away with it in broad daylight.

It’s the optimist in me. I can’t concede what hasn’t happened yet even recognizing all the possibilities. I can’t fathom people sitting by quietly if something like above were to happen. The way it plays out in my head isn’t Trump rules the world. The exact opposite. I still think America has what it takes. Just needed a wake up call.

  6. We are frothing at the mouth and have never been more motivated. But Trump won’t win again or become some dictator. Democracy will prevail. I have my money on not getting beat at the ballot box by these obvious traitors. I can only hope this is correct. Get back to me if it doesn’t happen.

  7. Damn right not now. Putin is a lot of things but he isn’t an idiot. The American people would give him a nice warm welcome... no.

The only way Trump gets out of his own shit is to start executing political opponents. He takes orders from Putin so the idea has probably been discussed. But his base is his base. It’s not growing. They are the minority. All he’s done since he’s been elected is awaken the suppressed voter. They aren’t Trump supporters but Trump opponents. His opposition has only grown. No one new is falling for this bullshit just the same ones that have repeatedly already done so. I too think everyone should calm down a bit and give the American people a chance to redeem themselves.

    “one side”

    lol!

Using Vic’s words in order to create a dialogue. Draw your own conclusions on the side that’s aggy.

I don’t get the vibe of anyone telling everyone they are right 100% of the time. The board is there to maybe change minds on important issues going on in the world. If that doesn’t interest you that’s cool. The discussions are a surly civil. It’s a pretty good collection of information centered around our government and those around the world. It’s up to the individual to make up their own mind and draw their own conclusions.

  9. For the record I’d take all the Briskets I can get on the team. I do understand bt’s points tho. My hope is the past sane conservatives will help carry the momentum over until the younger generation of progressives is ready to wrestle control from the older crazy Trumpers.

And the single most progressive member of Congress will soon be POTUS. That’s the top. Hint it’s not Joe Crowley.

Crowley supported single payer since before the ACA. Its hardly a new position.

And Ocasio isnt taking money from jobless people. She also takes corporate money. And her entire campaign was run by DSA operatives from Detroit. It was in no way local. Now shes in Kansas.  But Crowley went to California one time.

What corporate money did she take? Joe raised close to 3mil majority of it corporate. Less than 1% of that 3mil were donations less than 200 dollars. ACO 70% individual contributions less than 200. You seriously think these corporations give this money for no reason? One candidate provided progressive lip service. The other actually plans to try and do something progressive.

I too am TX 26. I have hopes but it’s TX.

She beat someone that shares her entire platform simply because he worked with other Democrats in Congress, and stumped nationwide. So for sure, I didn't expect her to already be a huge hypocrite before she even won the general.  I expect her to do what NY 14 wants. I expect the Kansas person to do what that district wants. If they need to negotiate, they can do it when they're both in Congress. Instead, shes already the same shit as Crowley and hasn't even spent a day in Congress yet.

She isnt actually left of Crowley, you know. Their platforms were actually identical. This is what she ran on. Shes a hypocrite already.

Definitely to the left of Crowley. Can start w Crowley not supporting Medicare for all until the primary. I wonder why that was? Maybe his opponent was going to hammer him on it. How convenient w the change of heart.

And taking corporate money. Was one of the top fundraisers in the Democratic Party compliments of Wall Street, insurance, and other large corporations. I’m sure those companies gift that money from the goodness in their hearts. Especially the 2nd 3rd 4th time however many times he’s won that district. They give over and over for no reason. Ocasio-Cortez raises her money from the people. Crowley and Ocasio-Cortez are as different as Clinton and Sanders. They work for corporate money and conveniently switch positions in public when their losing positions get called out.

I liked her. But she's already a hypocrite before she has even won the general election. She knocked Crowley on being a national politician rather than representing his district. She was right about that. She is also stumping for someone else in Kansas now.  Not sure what Kansas has to do with NY 14.

National politician like advocating for things that do not represent the interests of the people in NY14. Stumping for someone in Kansas that has similar ideals to hers in order to help said people in NY14. Strength in numbers to get legislation/bills passed? Is that how it works?

  13. Vic lecturing about rational discussions... rephrase dumbass shit we see on Facebook and love for fat chicks lecturing on rational discussions. Perhaps we could use some of that rationale on the politics board. I do get a few laughs every once in awhile.

Not to mention one side is full aggy. Definitely qualifies for the suck on one side imo.

    Hey look over there touchdown!

  14. Bernie will never pull the establishment. The establishment will fight til the end. They are still trying to shoot the party in the foot.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/sanders-wing-party-terrifies-moderate-dems-here-s-how-they-n893381

Still owned by the big money Bernie harps on. They are not for the people. It’s why they lost to fucking Donald Trump. The writing is on the wall. A big neon sign perhaps.

Bernie will mobilize the population again. Eyes will be watching the DNC for corrupt horse shit this time around. A fair fight and Sanders will win. Smooth sailing to POTUS.

Warren gets grouped bc used to be R has no bearing on what she is now. She is a progressive liberal who works along side Bernie more than any other politician. She may seek the nomination. I’d have no problem casting a vote for Warren. Just worried her path to the presidency would prove a little more difficult than Bernie’s. Alas I’ve said it numerous times. Sanders Warren 2020.

Perfect storm is coming. Trump will hand Democrats the house and senate. Even better Bernie will capitilize and make sure a true progressive liberal or should I say democratic socialist becomes the POTUS. It won’t be that bad conservative Republicans of the past... I’ll try not to laugh as you cast your vote for Bernie.
