How do you think this ends in the United States? The virus isn't going anywhere and you still see so much resistance to the idea of wearing a mask. I'm just struggling to think about the endgame and how long it will take to get there. I'm in NC but I check these forums quite a bit and I'm legit worried about you all in Texas right now.

I think the problem is that you strongly identify with being so stupid and vindictive that you would shoot someone in the back if they fired a taser at you and missed- and then turned around and kept running.  I don't.  But I can see why you would.  If you can't pass 'don't shoot fleeing people in the back because Johnny Sack would' Academy', don't become a cop.

Again, you don't get to kill someone for what they might have done if they'd  been a better taser shot instead of missing.  I know this displeases you.

What a tool.   Clearly gator has never been in a fight or a life threatening situation.  Heart rate is racing.   Huge adrenaline rush.  The perp rolled the dice.   Started a fight and didn’t do the math.  He lost big time and there is zero recourse.

Your lack of logic is tiresome.

You do not shoot people in the back who are running away and no longer a threat to you.   Shoot him if he is running at you.    You do not shoot people in the back who are no longer pointing a taser at you.   You have an argument if there is a reasonable chance that he will cause you death or great bodily harm.   Thinking that he is running to an MS-13 meeting at the Antifa club might scare you, but it is not reasonable to fear that.      And yes, a panel of Johnny Sack or Swamfortexas  clones will in fact acquit.    But the question is not about what he did in the past.  You can't shoot him for tussling with you.   You can't shoot him for running with a stolen taser.   You can't shoot him after he deploys it and turns around.   Unless you  think that his resistance means that he deserves killing.

Unlike Little Bill,  deserves got nothing to do with it.  You can't kill him for what he did, just what he might do.

I think that we should only hire cops who can count to two - and ones whose eyes and minds work well enough that they can process that a person running away with their back to them is - well -running away with their back to them.   We'll see.

Have you ever been shot by a taser in the head?

We will see. So many miscues past years, so much squandered talent, dumb play calling. I am the most bearish I’ve ever been on this program right now.

Understand the bear and gloom.  I admit the burst in social media is a bad indicator / lack of focus.
I’m just trying to keep positive that I didn’t flush $5K on tickets this year (again).

I understand and support the player’s requests.
Part of my challenge in this is I actually don’t really like this team as it’s currently composed as I think they’re by and large a bunch of soft, head-cases.
I am struggling not conflating the players valid concerns with my desire to have pretty much the entire team rebooted.

I do think CDC playing booster/$ card if that’s true was bad mistake. Herman and Texas went from leaders on the issue of BLM to stepping on their dicks very quickly.
Someone needs to be grab control.

I actually think this team could be really good and don’t think they are ‘soft’ like some of the Mack years.  Distracted?  Yes.  Adding self made pressure to perform?   Yes.

Hope they take their anger into the field.  St Darrel says “only angry people win football games”.

What do y'all think of this chart? I saw it initially on the Karl Denninger blog and I decided to make my own with more years, and I adjusted the deaths each year according to population growth. It shows the number of weekly deaths. I want you to focus on the red curve, where it dips below the others. Why do you think that is happening? In case you are thinking "fewer vehicle accident deaths", the average weekly number of deaths in vehicle accidents is around 730. As of the last reported week on this chart, which ended on 6/6, we were at around 15,000 fewer weekly deaths than previous years, so even if all 730 vehicle accidents went away (they didn't), that would only account for 5% of the drop in deaths.

I saw the same chart from denninger.  What is the data source for the all cause weekly deaths?

Moving vehicle accidents don’t drive the overall number of deaths in the us on a yearly basis.   The run about 35,000 deaths per year out of a total of 2.8M.   It’s about 1.2% of total deaths.
    try again.

Sure, which makes the conspiracy comment even more silly. You do you though.

Don’t believe I’ve used the word ‘conspiracy’.   You must be thinking of someone else.

Problem with this country in a nutshell.

Also there's a lot better ways to use the University's money than to donate to a political organization founded and led by Marxists. Call me crazy.

Say I had a $1,000 burning a hole in my pocket and I donated to BLM today.   Does anyone know how BLM would spend it?  I’m not talking in theory here ... where would that money go today?

I really DGAF about Tom Herman or any whitey associated with any Texas athletic program the rest of the week.

I guess today isn’t white boy day.  Is it?

  11. This should be a 10 to 11 win team in the regular season.

World events and the associated activism are either going to result in a feel good ‘remember the Titans’ type season where the team and the fans come together and celebrate the new normal

    - or -

the added pressure and distractions make them crater to a 6-6 season and the fans and alumni turn ugly.

I’m hoping for the former but these guys don’t seem vested in what it takes to be champions.

  12. I can’t go through 29 pages to see if it’s been stated but -

these dudes better ball out and win 10 or 11 in the regular season or the fans are going to turn ugly.

I’ll be rooting for them, with my wallet and my heart.  A little worried this is going to add extra pressure to already stressful situations late in games.   Hope they are able to deliver.
