....and you’ll continue to presume, generalize and label. Time to wrap the brisket. Peace

Post the after on the smoking thread. I have a pork butt on that's got a mind of it's own. Fighting the urge to foil it through the stall.

Don’t do it.  Low and slow.  Last one I tried 250 F to avoid the 18 hour marathon.

But shit like this is going to force the hand of governing bodies when 1/6th of them get sick in a month. If these fuckers could just stay home for like 6 weeks we could have things this fall - like school. And football. And restaurants. And bars.

But they don’t. So we won’t.

They have been exposed already.  Partying among the youngsters has been going on for weeks.   Try not to panic.

What if someone kneels during the national anthem but stands during the Black national anthem? What if someone kneels during the Black national anthem but stands during the national anthem? What if someone removes their mask for the Black national anthem but not for the national anthem? What if someone stands for both but doesn’t remove their mask for either? Is anyone else worried about this?

All the standing and kneeling will be good exercise.  Kind of like mass.   Might help with the obesity problem.

Should have just quietly done this decades ago, you know, before twitter.

Hope they come up with something that isn't too lame.

Oh it will be terrible. Too hard to brand these days.

And F the redskins.   The NFL too.   Loss of brand will accelerate the demise of both.

Texas Tshirt fan Hall Of Fame inductee in both my UIL High School and NCAA affiliated University.I did however give up two runs in 4 innings to the 2002 Texas National Championship team Augie led. Tim Moss and Majewski ate my lunch that day. Thanks for asking.

That was a good team.  Being in that game must have been a blast.

  6. Solution path for each demand is easy except for the damn song.   Wish they hadn’t picked it as a demand but there is no going back.

I’m guessing a small mod won’t remove the divisiveness at this point.  Might actually make it worse / larger within the family and that’s what makes this one so hard.

Probably need a brand new song at this point.  Fine with me .... just get on with it.

To me this is by far the most notable development we've had up up until the recent flare-ups. I don't see a lot of media reporting on this or even asking questions about it, but there almost has to be greater immunity in the northeast than we would expect. The NJ beaches have been open for six weeks and yet numbers in those counties, along with big cities that flock there, have not jumped up.

I hope this is pertinent to Texas, because regardless of the cause(s), it may give some hope that if you ride this out for a few weeks, but follow up with continued mask-wearing and distancing, you can start to see the other side of this shit.

Correct.   Just hasn’t burned through Texas and much of the south quite yet.

I get such tired head over people having to take one side or the other on the protest/social distancing thing when the reality is that it's probably a little but of this and a little bit of that and I would think logically when you put mass protests together in places where reopening had happened faster or social distancing had relaxed it was/is likely a toxic mix.  Neither is solely to blame, neither is solely blameless.....nuance and reason always escaping us.

Careful with that kind of talk around here.  Entirely too reasonable for surly.

Usually when this happens it brings a team closer. Gonna go out on a limb and assume you have zero minutes playing any organized athletics in your tenure.

You’ve convinced me.  I saw it play out that way on remember the Titans.  Mark it down.

No D1 offers for me.   But I was team captain for my team at a very large uil public school.  We were mildly successful. I don’t recall having any time outside of practice, workouts, study, and parties on the weekends.   Back then I just lead by example ... pretty simple.

    How about you?

It’s truly outrageous what people will justify to maintain their own entertainment. Not speaking directly to you, but to anyone who can’t understand that, in the grand scheme of things, football is trivial. We’re not discussing self-righteous kids who are rebelling against the system because they don’t want to work for anything, these are young men who are taking the only platform they have and using it to promote change. Sure, there will be parents and kids ambivalent to social change, but I would want to send my kid to a school that will teach them more about life than any textbook can.

So don’t be a horses ass and suggest that the Brocks are avoiding a school because the current student athletes are realizing there is life outside of football.

Well I guess I’m not that enlightened.   I’m happy when we win.  Not happy when we suck.   Like some of you, I was in the rose bowl in 2006 and would like to get back sooner than later.   I like to be happy.  Guilty as charged.

You’re not pointing anything out. The Brocks were already trending to Bama way before all this. You don’t like what’s happening with the players so you’re baselessly trying to attribute causation to justify your feelings. Go back to the football board, Cloak Room or whatever idiotic echo chamber that supports your stupidity.

My feelings have been hurt by your personal attack.  What exactly is your position?  Are you saying that the players threatening to sit out practices, games, or the whole season will not have a negative effect on the product on the field this year or in the future?

  12. Sorry I couldn’t understand you with your head in the sand.   I’m merely pointing out that not everyone wants to be a part time activist and part time football player and part time student.   Some want to make it to the league first and foremost and I asked if the brocks might fall in to that category.

Not taking the bait on a political discussion with you

No. There is zero indication that this is factual.

Good to hear.  The fact that the current players are going to vote on essentially quitting football for a year has no bearing on a recruit’s decision.

IMO it definitely plays a part in the “Austin isn’t the place it was when dad was choosing a school...” narrative.

One of Bama's OL actually wrote this:

Clemson already did something - they took John C. Calhoun's name off of everything.

Ohio State gets to dodge the "you need to rename everything" play because they're not from a slave state. Just to look at a Texas guy on their team, they're still doing a plenty of activism:

Please.    We have multiple players effectively quitting the team.  They ain’t taking a knee.

  16. Anyone wondering if the brocks are distancing from all the recent activism and swirl around the program?    I get the feeling these dudes are about football and don’t want to get involved in the ‘woke’ struggle in Austin.
