Where does that buyout money come from? That buyout had strings attached by the people fronting that money. That buyout money isn't there to ditch Herman to hire James fucking Franklin.
Exactly. Buyout money is conditional on hiring UM.
I thought my post earlier was the most probable scenario (backdoor top 10 finish with an 8-3 record and stay with Herman). But UM seems like he’s just itching to get back in the game - the fox pre game show today was telling.

Worst case scenario.
7-3 finish. No B12 championship game. Back into a good bowl and beat some overrated top 10 pac12 or ACC team. Finish at no 10 in the final polls. Close on a top 15 recruiting class. Keep Tom Herman.
Mediocrity cycle continues with no changes.
Don’t shoot the messenger.

'97 UCLA was bad. I hated the 63-14 and 65-13 losses to OU more though, because OU is a hated rival.
But none of those were as bad as the '91 Cotton Bowl IMO, for those that attended in person. Miserable cold wet weather, the absolute destruction of our hopes that were were finally "back", Russell Maryland killing our o-line completely dead, and those a-hole Miami CoCanes earning something like 200+ yards in unsportsmanlike penalties. I'm pretty sure I got frostbite in my toes that day.
Confirming the misery of 91CB. It’s a day and game that’s burned into my memory never to be purged it seems. At least I was hammered for the UCLA 97 game.

I live down the street from that one and I went right when they first opened and it was terrible. I need to give it another shot because I love lupe tortilla but man that first time at that location was bad.
The beef must be slow cooked in crack for about 18 hours. Order the most expensive item in the menu and thanks me later.

Lupe Tortilla on belt line in Addison. Carne Asada, beef fajita, chicken fajita. Pricey but legit.

Similar thought as well... why are they so passionate about it if its "not going to happen". I take it as more smoke that there have indeed been rumblings and possible contacts with others at OSU.
The recruiting pipeline from Texas will shut down if we get Urban. Texas players have made OSU elite over the last several years. And they know it.

I'd prefer it happen right after the game. They pull Tom aside after the loss, and Urban himself says "find your own ride home motherfucker, this seat's taken"
Announce before the game. The team would be freaking jacked for that game. First legit blowout of the year.

He might be a real possibility for CDC (though I'd doubt that), but is he a real possibility for the money guys?
This is correct. The big joke here is that there is no real coaching search happening - it’s simply a smoke screen. It’s either UM and a funded buyout or stay with TH. CDC won’t be able to get the buyout from the BMD for any of the scrubs out there.
if he does get the buyout for a Fickel or a Patterson, my hats off to him. Ice, eskimos, sales, whatnot...

Jesus will come back but I doubt it would be to coach at Texas.
Are you saying that even Jesus couldn’t coach and win at Texas?

That’s the bump for sterns quitting.

So you are saying their master plan is to do this as an attempt to sabotage our recruiting efforts? They will be more than surprised to find out......the TCU and OU results have already done enough.
Well that and get a big raise out of fox in the process and bring down Texas for the next 10 years.

Maybe Urban is playing a really long game to bring Texas to its knees as payback for getting let go by OSU a couple years ago. Perhaps in his mind, TH and a complicit Texas took him down to protect recruiting turf.
‘Make the offer. I’m all in.’ Rumors circulate. Recruiting nose dives as the season goes south. TH is a dead man walking. Players opt out. Last minute, ‘you know that damn cyst is flaring up and I can’t sign the deal. Doctors orders. Really appreciate the offer and good luck to your program.’
And now we’re stuck with a crippled Tom with shit recruits and the BMDs pull the conditional money for the buy out - no UM, no buyout.
Or maybe I’m wrong.

The difference between this thread and the Cosmi thread is stark.
I wonder why.
Just kidding I don't. We all know why.
I’m not sure what you are referring to Brad. But fuck you for going cr. Sterns is average at football and cosmi is likely 1st or 2nd rounder. One was on social media and one wasn’t. Maybe take a fucking lap.
-
With the season effectively over, I can only think of two reasons for the complete silence by CDC.
- negotiating a reduced buyout with Herman given some sketchy behavior
- UM hasn’t accepted yet
Could be either one or both.

Have no idea. At the snap the CB on the boundary hesitated then came on a late blitz, and it looked like that CB was on skates. ISU then sent two verticals with the TE and WR. Brown covered the TE and Sterns had no hope of getting over to the WR.
It’s just hard to explain. We haven’t had any crazy calls like this all year. How the hell did it happen after seven games.
-
Can anyone explain what the defensive call was on the 1Q touchdown vs Iowa st? Some crazy corner blitz with no rotation to cover the wr. And of course sterns misses the tackle but that’s the least offensive part of the play.

ossai has more honor than that.
After the game, Cosmi stopped at the tunnel, turned around and just stared at the east stands for a couple minutes. J O walked over (looked like he was crying his eyes out) and Cosmi hugged him for about 30 seconds. Not sure what they talked about but it would t surprise me if they had both played their last game at Texas.

Freeze and Mullen MIGHT have a win % slightly higher than TH. But that’s not going to be enough for the swinging Ds to write that buyout check. Believe the thread title.
