  1. Worthy’s talent lies close to the line of scrimmage.  He’s a quick m’fer and hard to deal with in space.   He has no ability to track a deep ball and high point a ball.     It’s like a basketball player that is tall but can’t rebound.  The tools are there but they can’t anticipate and use their lower body to position to get the ball.   I guess he might be best used in the slot but he may lack size and strength.    Just not sure what to do with him at this point.

  2. I find it maddening that had we simply played inside leverage against tech and osu and forced two shitty passers to hit deep out routes consistently (which they can’t), we would be sitting at 7-1 and top 10 or better in the country.

  3. When the qb is a runner and until the qb is down according to the rules - something other than the hand or feet touching the field - then the hit is legal (other than targeting of course).  It seems so simple.   Too many dual threat / running qbs these days.   The defense deserves equitable protection as well.

I do feel like there is some effort lacking from Worthy at times this season.  There are times of amazing effort - like against 'Bama - but he also seems pretty quick to give up on some plays.  Hopefully that is not a trend.

Worthy gets bracketed a lot and it shows with his body language even when he’s targeted and doesn’t make the catch.   Walks to the sideline with his head down.

When he does break free downfield he can’t seems to track the ball.   The end zone play is not the first one this year where he ran or stumbled away from the ball flight.   I don’t think I’ve seen a quality D1 receiver ever having this kind of trouble downfield.    Some may drop it but worthy being unable to track and adjust to the ball flight is simply bizarre.  Huge regression from last year and I question what the hell he is working on in practice or if there other other off the field factors that are causing his play to degrade.

Either way, he’s costing himself huge money in both 2023 NIL leverage and future draft position.   Scouts can see this shit - same as we can.

Not for long. In one week's time, that will have finally ended.

Because they'll have a four game winning streak then.

    😉

Fuck this shit.  Can’t tell if you are trying to make a joke or not … their scheme is designed to keep the score down but I think we have too many dudes.   They won’t be able to keep this game in the teens.    In summary - They are fucked.

  6. Well this is a great scheme married with great talent.   We’ve had great qb talent with Vince and Colt and a mediocre scheme that kicked ass with some top tier talent around them.

I think we’ve only had a great scheme once before with mackovic … especially in the run game.   It was really something to watch.   That mfer knew what he was doing.   Too bad he was a massive prick and let other parts of the program go to shit.

Yeah, our fan base loves to lose its mind.  I think there are active threads for “show me another win” and “show me another loss” from this season.  We tend to get way too worried about whoever we play the week after OU. Should the team take them seriously? Sure……but us fans can sit around and yell mudhole all week because ultimately that’s what’s gonna happen!

Well back in the day we played piggy the week after ou.   There was no surprise or trap game there.   We were always ready to play but in some cases a little beat up from the game in Dallas.

this should be an ass kicking.   We are healthy and getting better week to week on both sides of the ball.

If the stadium was more closed in like it is today, the Bama game wouldn't have been close.

The thing about 1990 UH was the amount of booze imported to the stadium and absolute mayhem in the crowd.   I’ve never seen anything like the drunken rage experienced that night.   That crowd wanted to eat ….  Basically pissed off and ready to fight plus the whisky.   Might never be replicated.

I cant wait until aggy publicly admits to massive recruiting violations just to lower Jimbo's buyout.

I think it will just be a negotiated buyout and won’t go public to destroy the program.   Nice and quite.   Jumbo moves on to dream job at WV.

I think some here (most, maybe) underestimate the wealth of teams’ alumni bases combined with the rabid nature of southern football teams. If OU has a down period it won’t be worse than our down period. Do you really think OU has a BMD base less than most SEC schools?  I don’t. It is probably on par with Bama, Tennessee, Auburn, maybe Georgia. Exceeded by probably Georgia, Florida, and no doubt A&M and Texas. It exceeds LSU, Ole Miss, Clemson and really any other southern school. When you combine that with a willingness to do anything it takes to win, moreso than Texas, I can’t see them down for long.

All of these schools have ample resources from which to draw.  Winning and tradition matter, and in the new SEC only Bama will exceed them there.

Off the top of my head …

OU money is well behind the following SEC schools - Bama, UGa, Fla, Vandy, aggy, Mizzoo, Tenn

On par with LSU, Arky, UK, Auburn

Ahead of Miss, Miss St, USC.

Texas is well ahead of all of them plus unmatched corporate opportunities in Austin.     It’s a numbers game …

  11. Card is a dual threat guy playing in the wrong offense.   The Sark scheme asks him to process quickly and stretch the field with arm talent.   Just a bad mix IMO and would do better in another offense … Just not Sarks.   What we get from Card now is about as good as it’s going to get.

  12. So OU is on the way to a 10 - 15 down period.      Maybe longer depending on timing of NIL regulations.  Riley saw it coming and bolted to a school that could pay a staff AND buy a roster.   OU is a broke ass school and the alumni don’t have deep pockets.   They will still pull decent talent out of Texas and sprinkle in talent from around the country but can’t keep up with the arms  race like Texas , USC, and others.

Oh and their coaching staff is straight ass.

Could be a close game this week or a Texas blowout.   But I expect it to get more lopsided for the horns in te coming years.

  13. worthy.   He’s a great speed guy but has significant limitations on deep and contested balls.

Think about rebounding in basketball.  Some dudes that are 6’3 to 6’5 just have a knack for the ball and can consistently beat power forwards and centers for the ball.  It can’t be taught - they just have it.   It’s the ass and hips and elbows and hands and eyes.

Worthy will never have it and we need to adjust our expectations accordingly - and look for other roster options to make those plays where someone can fuckin high point a ball.  Worthy ain’t it but can still be a big threat in the offense going forward.

  14. Don’t hire Traylor.   Hire Frank fuckin Harris.   Without that dude, this was going to be a 50 point win if not more even with Card at QB.   That dude played his ass off.   Traylor better find a new gig at the end of the year before getting exposed next year without Harris and those receivers.

  15. Well the targeting call on the (non) safety  followed by the review guy being unable to see the qbs leg was down were not incompetence.   That’s straight up fuckery on a game changing play.   The subsequent fuck-ups might be incompetence but I doubt it.

I don’t think they were there to protect Alabama’s path to the playoff.  Why would they give a shit?  Pretty obvious the b12 anti Texas is stronger than ever.    A little surprised they would do it on such a big stage …

edit.   The review guy might be from the SEC so that probably explains why they didn’t call the safety via review.

  16. Dude it’s obvious.   He will be fired for cause. NCAA investigation into last years class will make it easy enough.   Evidence of cheating will magically appear.   The only thing I’m surprised about is how fast it’s likely to happen.

  17. Catching up on this thread is a beating I won’t soon forget.  Tom fucking Herman?  I can’t wait for all the revisionist posts down the road praising sark as he turns this ship around.   If you can’t see it coming then get your eyes checked.    From the proven staff in place to the recruits they are bringing in (especially in the trenches) to the newly funded payroll … there is literally nothing pointing down.  All arrows are pointing up.

Herman and his G5 Jackwagons drove this program into the ground.  No line play and they absolutely survived on Sam hero ball and drove him into the ground in the process.

Just enjoy the ride.  I wouldn’t want to play this team come November and beyond when this offense is clicking.   Wish I was on campus for  it instead of the shit late 80s.
