I didn't call you a bitch, I alluded to you arguing like a bitch. Constantly making up bullshit, telling me what I really think, putting words in my mouth, etc. You know. Like a bitch. I think I said the way you were acting, you must be a chick. Sounds pretty accurate to me.

And yeah, you're really covering yourself in glory by calling me unstable for calling out your idiotic shit. So you know ... go fuck yourself.

Man... I think the first person on here to start telling people to shut the fuck up was you. 99% of the posters on this thread were looking for an honest conclusion to a great season of racing and didn't find it - and as has been discussed most don't have a dog in the fight. Pushing the meme pics & tears narrative is fucking weak. Try harder.

Man you cry about Mercedes more than any Mercedes team fan cries about anything else lol.

But that damned Lewis Hamilton was wearing calfskin boots! Didn't you see?!

  3. Unfortunately I don't see two-way comms (or public ones) going away any time soon. It's an entertainment goldmine and it's now an entertainment-first sport. It's the candor of an NFL Films player mic combined but turbocharged. I would absolutely agree that the RD should be free of any outside interference - even put an intermediary between himself and the teams. Anything to avoid the cringey back & forth (from both sides).

What I've been reading about the lapped car/SC thing is that yes, that's the preferred way of handling it, but that the Race Director has discretion to alter it. I also read that there are two or three rules applying to the scenarion which don't exactly align. And re: the unlapped cars getting to fight for points, most people think it's a good thing - not because they get to fight for points - but because they get out of the way of the battles up front. That's why it even exists. You may not have noticed, but it's done all the time. It's not new. The biggest mistake by Masi on this one is that he could have let the lapped cars go earlier and didn't.

I think you're being deliberately obtuse here. Two very normal procedures were done in ways that, to my knowledge, have never been done. This was a lot more than a gentle massaging of grey areas.

Lewis and Merc are such whiny bitches. They fucked up their pit strategies, twice, and it cost them both the race and the championship.

He didn't pit the VSC because they liked the track position. They were right - Max didn't gain close to the 16 seconds he needed to catch him.

He didn't pit the SC because they aren't going to give the championship leader the fucking lead with 5 laps to go, and a track filled with machinery and debris.

Meh. From this thread I'm 100% convinced no matter how Max won, people would be salty about it for one reason or another. May as well enjoy it for now. Figure out how to fix the mess regarding the rules starting tomorrow.

I think he's an arrogant, petulant prick who happens to drive for the biggest cunt in the sport. I was always going to be salty with a loss but hey, the lead they earned let him drive the way he drove and he's a really fucking fast driver who out-performs his car. If he was faster today then hats off.

I wasn't prepared to have it manipulated the way it was. I'm really pissed because of that. Probably overly so but whatever.

Yes because there were 3 miles of track where it was safe to do so. Marshals frequently make dash and grabs for debris under green flag conditions. That is significantly more dangerous than unlapping under safety car conditions with a yellow flag in the affected sector.

One side is arguing for a specific combination of follow the regulations verbatim here but follow non-regulations precedent there to achieve the desired result. It's not Verstappen fanboys.

I mean if you're arguing he should have followed the rules of the sport I completely agree. If he felt the track was safe then let them overtake on lap 1 of the SC. Hell, maybe lap 2 or 3. That's his choice to make in the rulebook. Alonso et al. were arguing for this very thing to happen for integrity's sake. He officiated the race in a way that would have to end under a yellow flag.

Rules don't permit him to allow only a few hand-picked cars to overtake, and then bring the SC in a lap early.

I am gruntled by the O-linemen we have committed with more possible, but I hope they realize their position isnt one where one typically starts immediately. Portaling out after one season due to lack of play time does nothing to help us. On the flipside..if we have a mostly true Freshman O-line next year (highly ranked recruits or otherwise) then my liver wont live to see the '23 team play

I'll take a true freshman with a limp and walking cane over Christian Jones.

And then Lewis complained on the radio about Perez's "dangerous driving."

Max does his thing, commentators themselves say it's fine, the stewards say its fine, but here it is dirty. Then people praise Perez (it was great defense), but Hamilton calls it dangerous. I just don't know how anyone can actually race without someone complaining about it.

It was good clean, aggressive racing - I enjoyed it. I'm sure it was the last thing he wanted to deal with.

Mercedes can bitch all they want, but they had ample opportunity in the latter part of the race to pit and get a fresh set of tires. They played the conservative game, rolled the dice and lost. Poor race management by Toto. Never leave the game in the hands of the officials.

Did they have a window that I'm forgetting? Certainly wasn't after the VSC. It's not like they could go for it on 4th down to cement the game - I think the race management was pretty great.

Also, LH and Max are both whiny unlikable bitches. I would love to see Riccardo, Lando and Alonso in competitive cars next year so I would actually have someone to root for.

Be careful what you wish for - They're all whiny when they're fighting for the top. Maybe D Ric being the exception - hard not to like him.

I think is the part that bothers me the most:

The Race Director stated that the purpose of Article 48.12 was to remove those lapped cars that would “interfere” in the racing between the leaders.

Masi knows here that Lewis has zero chance to hold off Max, and just basically admitted to having a huge effect on the results, and indirectly said that it was all for show and that the midfield doesn’t matter.

He's got nothing to stand on. Why not give Sainz the same chance? It's very reasonable to think he might take the win while they fight it out - was he not a leader? Competitive integrity is gone.

  12. Protest #2 not upheld.

A race directory just made up the rulebook and decided the champion in probably the most partisan way imaginable. A year of racing rendered meaningless for one lap of artificial DTS drama. Truly a masterclass of incompetence by Michael Masi once again and it's the sport as a whole that suffers. What a fucking embarrassment.

Off to CAS I guess - nothing will happen.

I haven't even watched the Netflix series yet. I don't know why people feel the need to play the "I was a fan before you were" card.

To me a lot of new blood spews the "OMG the drama is crazy! LOL Toto is so mad can't believe he threw that headset!! CAN'T WAIT FOR DTS NEXT SEASON!" drivel.

It's just a trend that I'd rather not see continue, especially considering it's apparent effect on this year's championship. There's so much more to enjoy from the sport than weekly bumper cars and angry press conferences. It doesn't need Netflix's help.

So wait, are you admitting that Hamilton sometimes makes the same moves that Max gets shit on for doing? If so, we are getting somewhere.

You must be new to the sport. Go back and watch Lewis in 2011 to see what an un-hinged, overly aggressive Lewis in a slower car looks like.

It's not RB's fault that Merc didn't pit Hamilton, twice.

It's not anybody's fault (except Latifi) that Latifi crashed.

The FIA didn't conspire to give Hamilton a free lead (unless you are the blindest of all fan boys and don't accept Max's push)

The FIA didn't conspire to give Verstappen a free championship.

But the FIA clearly and unintentionally fucked up by not being clear with the management of the race.  And RB didn't ask for it, but they were ultimately gifted the race by the bunch-up on a 1 lap sprint where they otherwise had a 10 second and 5 car gap.

I don't think Merc pits him under either situation. You can argue to pit under VSC but in the end Lewis is still on worn tires where Max gets to pit under SC for fresher softs. Max is fast enough to capitalize on that 9/10 times.

Under no circumstances, given the regulations, can Merc give up track position to pit Lewis under SC. They made that decision based on the rules of the sport. Those rules weren't followed by the director.

It wasn't a case of "Ooops I made a mistake!". I obviously don't think that was done deliberately to favor RB but Masi artificially manipulated the finish in an illegal way to produce a dramatic "racing" finish.

Kinda crazy that Nicholas Latifi of all people seems most responsible for the most dramatic finish to a season.

The Timo symmetry would have been amazing had Max won under normal circumstances

Another possibility, is that apparently once cars are allowed to unlap, the SC is supposed to come in on the FOLLOWING lap. I admit I have not double checked that rule, though.

If so, that obviously was also not followed.

Posted it a bit earlier, it's absolutely not a grey area in the regulations.
