  1. Listen to this stat: Texas Southern has been to 4 regionals (04, 08, 15, 17). They won their very first game against No. 6 National seed, and defending national champion, Rice after Rice chose to pitch their Tuesday guy in the opening game and failed to score more than 3 runs (against a TSU team who’s rpi was 230+). Rice’s hitting coach at the time: David Pierce. Since winning that first game, TSU has lost every regional game (0-8) by an aggregate combined score of 86-24 It was 58-11 until TSU managed to score 13 runs in 2 games last year (and give up 28). Good to know Pierce wasn’t willing to tempt fate and make that mistake again. Hopefully tomorrow night is over by the 4th inning so we can throw some guys from the bullpen who would otherwise never pitch in the postseason
  2. Nope. ESPN 2 game 1, and then ESPN for the clincher. IIRC, Texas was the first of the 8 teams to punch their ticket that year bc both game 1 and 2 were day games rather early. Cool feeling when you get to sit back and watch the other 7 supers claw each others eyes out while you know your team will be in paradise for sure the next weekend
  3. That's the road record, sonny. The Big 12 champs aren't too terrified of the team that finished 11th in their conference. But it just means more, right?
  4. How they constantly come up with new material to whine about is honestly beyond me. Last time I went to the texags message board they were claiming all of our baseball success was from cheating and blown umpire calls, and referenced some missed tag in an austin regional from the early 80s. So many levels of pathetic I don’t know where to begin: 1.) bitching about something that’s not aggy related almost 40 years ago, 2.) bitching about those “dreaded sips” bc you’ve never been in their shoes or 3.) somehow narcicistically convincing yourselves you’re better than Texas in every way when stats, facts, and history all point to otherwise. No. 3 is probably the winner, but aggy is unbearable for a myriad of reasons. In 2014, they convinced themselves that they were actually better, and the third best team in the country because they beat vandy in the regular season and Texas only beat them once in two tries. Even though Texas ended their year in 2014, and all of a sudden this year regular season records don’t matter and shouldn’t matter... What a life they must live being that delusional
  5. And Oregon matched up their weakest golfer with Beau to have their No. 5 guy pick up an automatic W. Thought that was a cowardly move myself, but maybe I would’ve thought different had Texas been in that position
  6. Yes, Ghim is the No. 1 amateur in the world and Shuman isn’t. Ghim was down 4 after 6 and squared it with 2 holes left. Maybe the first 6 holes were the choke, idk, but he certainly went down swinging. Its golf, man. Some days you make those putts, sometimes they don’t drop. Duke getting to the semis after having the second best round score is no accident either. Clearly a club playing good golf right now
  7. Tough way to end the season. Ever since Oregon 2 years ago this program can’t buy a good break in the NCAAs
  8. Nobody on their team is getting picked in the first five picks of the mlb draft...
  9. Knowing how these things always work out, I'd be UTTERLY SHELLSHOCKED if it's not Texas vs. aggy in the winner's bracket game. I feel like Indiana is going into this game knowing they're losing in the first round. I'll give it to aggy - they'll have a crowd behind them on Friday night in the disch against the Hoosiers.
  10. Final projections (with hyperlinked sources) Seeds 1-4 are announced at 10:30 on the ESPN bottom line ticker. The remaining field of 64 other teams is announced at 11 on ESPNU D1 baseball 1. Texas (14) (paired with 3 Ole Miss) 2. LSU 3. Washington 4. Oral Roberts Perfect Game 1. Texas (14) (paired with 3 Arkansas) - EDIT 10:32 am - Arkansas not announced in top 4 2. - 4. they didn't provide any of this Baseball America 1. Texas (15) (paired with 2 Stanford) 2. UCLA 3. Houston 4. Gonzaga College Sports Madness 1. Texas (16) (paired with 1 Florida) 2. UConn 3. Dallas Baptist 4. Texas Southern Personally, I think Auburn and aggy are also credible 2 seed options. Haven't linked us with aggy since 2014, which broke the attendance records in Reckling Park, and don't think the ncaa would have us play ucla first round again
  11. Congrats on those wins against rhode island and cornell or whoever tf aggy played this year in non conference. We actually have a history being a perennial top 10 team. aggy only pretends to
  12. Not since the big 12 started has the regular season conference champion not hosted. I highly doubt they would not do it this year when the conference was the second best conference in the country. Rpi is an important metric. It is not the metric
  13. But, akin of previous seasons, Sunday night will be just the locations, correct? Not the seeds 1-16?
  14. Woof. Talk about a championship hangover. Not since at least 2001, and probably further just based off limited research at work, has the big 12 champion not hosted a regional. Probably going to be 14-16, but think Texas should be fine. On the other hand, however, not sure how many of those teams already had 20 losses heading into regionals, or an rpi outside of the top 20 (in 2017 all 16 hosts were rpi No. 17 or better, Texas being 18 or 19 and shipped off to California) makes for an unsettling next few days of waiting. But still give Texas a 90% chance
  15. Fify. Fortunately, the pitching has started to emulate 2017 lately as well
  16. Christ Texas. Show some life in your execution, for the love
  17. If it’s any consolation, the pathetic performances usually resulted in a subsequent win streak
  18. It’s time to wake up just a tad horns. I’d like to at least guarantee that I’ll be drinking in left field at the disch next weekend
  19. I know, good. Texas’s best performances by far since big 12 play started have been against the best opponents. Being the 15 or 16 overall sounds more appealing tbh
  20. Texas has lost 11 out of 20 of their last big 12 tournament opening round games. All of 2002-2005 which concluded with winning that tournament twice and the national title twice. Not too shabby also interesting: 1 seed hasn’t reached the finals since 2014, and hasn’t won since 2009
  21. From what I followed on statcast at work, Texas went 9 up 9 down to start (there was a walk and caught stealing somewhere in there). Had runners on second with no outs two different times the next two innings and couldn’t get him home. Certainly didn’t fold though, and put together a rather impressive effort B9. On to the gooners. 9 am first pitch tomorrow 😑
  22. Still 3-1 against them this year, and it took a game 7 effort of theirs to beat a Tuesday effort of ours. Frustrating loss, but Texas has their eyes on something much bigger at this stage in the season 🤘🏻
  23. No rain in the forecast in okc this weekend🤘
