Texas State does get a couple more chances to torment the Big 12 starting a H&H with Arizona State next year. Kinda feel like if the Bobcats win one of those may not get any more Big 12 series lined up for a while, the in state schools certainly won't want to risk getting the smoke like Baylor.
Obviously, it won't be Big12 then, but Texas has a game with Texas State in 2026.

Barhopping in Bessemer is a phrase I have never thought or heard. But Bright Star is legit. 100+ years ago lots of Greek immigrants opened restaurants and hot dog stands. Most of the grandkids went into other professions, but a few places remain in family hands.
Yeah, when I first looked at Google maps there seemed to be some bars and breweries in Bessemer. But looking into it, hell no, not hanging around. We'll probably Uber to 5 points area.

Hipsters and Alabama did not compute. Had to use my google machine.

QuoteA friend of mine just left town. The place was changing, he complained.
"I moved here to get away from the hipsters," he said. "Bastards followed me."
So he sold his loft, grabbed his guitar and his funny hat and left Birmingham to pursue his mid-life doctorate. And I just shook my head. Because I know that the first stage of hipsteria is denial. Hipsters hate hipsters. Almost as much as they hate national restaurant chains and genetically modified foods.
But he's right about Birmingham. It is becoming Hipsterham.
All of a sudden Birmingham is infested with hipsters. All those giant lenses and Doc Martens and flannels. You can't walk a block downtown without tripping over a pair of skinny jeans.
I don't really know whether the explosion of local beer brought the hipsters to Birmingham or if the hipsters started Birmingham's beer boom in the first place. But if you want to find them, just pop open a local IPA. And offer to pay
But be careful. I have a theory – as yet unproven – that hipsters are like gremlins. Feed them craft beer after midnight they multiply.
...
Pretty funny.

Dinner at Bright Star Friday night in Bessemer with about 8 others. Bar hop around there. But then I saw this list! -
FYI. AA added a Friday nonstop AUS-BHM and one returning on Sunday. Sounds like a good group from Austin is headed to the game.

Stanford 1999 was the most brutally hot game I remember. It was an 11am kick, but it just got hotter and hotter as the game went along.
This is the correct answer.

You can say that again.

Was a kid in Dallas when Rentzel played for the Cowboys and then was traded. When the news broke about exposing himself, it was definitely a big story. Even as a 7 or year old, I knew about it. Lance's brother ran a summer program at WT White High School where we would go as kids. He became sort of a pariah too. It was easier to hide things back then, but I still remember it as a big deal.

Well, that’s certainly one way of looking at it, although it is true. When it comes to brand and viewership, TCU does not resonate nationally: https://www.foxsports.com/stories/college-football/ohio-state-michigan-ranked-most-popular-college-football-teams-per-study
Duke FOOTBALL is the fourth most popular team?!?

ESPN radio is basically unlistenable at this point. It is NBA every fucking time I tune in and it can be 4-5 times per day depending upon my location, and I immediately change to another station.
MLB doesn't exist. NCAABB doesn't exist. Hell, soccer doesn't even exist. It's just just 24/7 of Damian Lillard( not his fault) and Miami Heat culture.
And that's a bad thing, because . . . ?

That number isn't quite accurate. I attended the Notre Dame game in 2004 and we had nearly 67,000 in attendance.
Capacity is the number of actual seats in the stadium. Attendance is the number of people in the stadium that day (including fans, press, janitors, concession workers, players, etc.).

the 2 biggest games ever played on The Hilltop were 1) Tornado 2-2 Manchester United, Ownby Stadium, 30 May 76 and 2) Mavs 105-104 SuperSonics, Moody Coliseum, 26 April 1984
I was at this game. I'm so old. Not @Armybrat old, but still.

According to Drew's dad, only Purdue and Kentucky (Hal Mumme/Mike Leach) offered him a scholarship. Pretty much everyone missed this one.

I will be there with 10 others. Staying at Marriott Birmingham.

The Trop in Tampa is sitting there empty.
Devil Rays are on a road trip until June 6th.
I'm sure the Canes and their fan(s) wouldn't mind a 5-hour bus ride for a home series.

Is this the thread to bitch about a 2:30p kick on Sept 2nd? Is it too early to complain about the heat?
