The largest sub-group of Jews in Israel are the Mizrahi Jews— ie, Jews from the Middle East.  And then of course there’s all sorts of intermarriage.

Keep going, all the experts are doing great here!

Mizrahi are a simple majority but they certainly haven't been the leaders and decision makers that have shaped and guided the Israeli state throughout it's history.

    5. no, Muslims do not want to kill Jews on "general principle" .  Guess what? they lived together for centuries without this animosity until Zionism showed up.

You really don't know anything at all, but I am here to help you in this journey.

This is the point so many people in the US struggle with when it comes to just about any conflict in the Middle East, i.e., "it don't matter, they've been killing each other for centuries!"

It's also probably worth mentioning that the Jewish people that co-existed with their Muslim (and Christian) neighbors prior to the establishment of Israel are not the same people that make up the majority of current day Israelis.  Israel is a settler colony, not a resettlement of an indigenous population.

Maybe because a lot of people's lived experience in America since 2016 has been that (online, especially) if you support X and I hate X, then I also hate you the one who votes or supports X.

Then why won't all the government hating right wingers admit they hate the USA?

why do Jewish students feel hating Israel is a direct attack on them? /rhetorical question.

Why is it that so many people disingenuously claim that criticizing a nation's government is equivalent to hating that whole nation and all of its people?

Why is that a new story? I thought he committed a while ago

He's been leaning toward Tech for a while,  but I think he never made it publicly official until yesterday.  Some people have been wondering if he was a silent commit and just waited to announce when it seemed like a good time, which sounds plausible, but that's speculation.

I kind of miss Aggy, but more just in the way of missing out on the yearly comedy of their expectations vs. reality... e.g. the Thujone "Annual Aggy rollercoaster."

I can obviously still observe and be amused from afar, but it's better when it's up close and personal.

Yes, it's much more fun to directly kick them while they're down than it is to watch others do it, but the latter is also enjoyable

The Pac game had zero competition. And your point about playoff contention is absolutely a pro Big 12 one.

Yeah, I'm not getting that one as a pro Pac 12 talking point. "Our championship game was lower rated because our best two teams weren't very good."

That's an awful lot of words just to say tech sucks.

I was shocked to find out that an SEC team that's played in two national championship games in the last 20 years gets better TV ratings than Texas Tech.

PAC 12 teams joining the Big12 immediately become more exciting to casual fans and the media, just due to the time changes in their games.  At least initially.  It would be up to them to maintain the interest.

The luckiest group is the 4 who already signed up.  Those schools still do not conjure up the "importance" of the schools leaving a P5 conference, even if they have fielded more competitive teams for a good while.

The 8 remaining + the 4 corner schools + the 4 step ups, make a group that could put fun, competitive teams out in the 3 major sports, The Norhtwest schools deciding to tag along would be like adding rich icing on top of a good cake.

I was with you up until the cake metaphor.

Well done. Take away our rivals until we have to join. I’m sure they are many that office in the Tower that are disgusted with SEC affiliation.

lol. Lil' Jay Hartzell an CDC are happily counting their money, and I doubt Jay has the slightest problem casting UT's lot with all the red state flagships.

Anticipated? No. Not a chance. Taken their time and laid out some plans for a few scenarios? Maybe do some background digging around and see what the landscape is shaping up like? I mean they had years before OU/UT were bolting (atleast on paper). If they'd just made the prudent decision to wait one year before expanding, which doesn't seem that unreasonable to me, this would have all just fallen into their lap.

    This is 100% hindsight.

I was never interested in joining the Rust Belt or Left Coast leagues. Easier travel, big & passionate fan bases. Better BBQ

Not to mention the dumbest people and most culturally backwards states in the US.

Yeah I think there are some people in the Big XII office with their heads in their hands right now. And you've got to be wondering if Tech and OSU might now be looking west yet again....

Yeah, they should have totally anticipated this move that literally no one across the country expected.
