  1. I lived in Hell’s Kitchen for a year with a roommate prior to the family coming up and then Jersey City for 6 months while we were house hunting. I’ve worked downtown for 7.5 years. I’m fairly certain that I know the score. I’m married with a family, 2 of which were in high school when we relocated. You are single and have dogs. Not quite the same situation.

You’re the one that doesn’t want to get cooties. You’re the typical transplant that makes it a point to tell the world that she lives in NYC by working it into every conversation. Not only NYC, but in the West Village where you see Leo on the reg at Joe’s Pizza. The only real question is who will play you in the movie.

  2. This isn't really an airport/airplane etiquette thing but what is the deal with flying that makes people (usually stereotypical dad-mode types) stand up and do bizarre stretching exercises in public?
Was back at the airport today waiting to head to Miami, and I watched this 40 something guy just stand there in front of a gate full of people and do a full stretch and limber up routine for a good 10 minutes.
If you did this at a grocery store someone would call to have you committed.
I felt like I was watching one of those Dr. Rick Progressive commercials.

I think I saw the same guy in Denver on Monday.

  3. Is not doing daily housekeeping now a thing with hotels, or is this still some sort of COVID precaution?
If I’m paying $500+ a night at a gotdamn JW resort, in Texas, I expect at a minimum to not to have to come to the front desk for towels.

Was the same way at the Gaylord last week. Clusterfuck central.

  4. I’m normally a dipper, but when I have to hop on a plane I grab a pouch of Levi Garrett and stick an empty 1L water bottle in my backpack.  I load up prior to taxiing.  That tends to insure that nobody chooses to sit next to me.

With the price of Levi Garrett today, you may be better off flying private.

  5. Darn, I'll probably try to stop at a few places and get some smoke wagon then and hit up a few places along the way to breck

Antlers Liquor in Frisco has always been good to me. Worth a quick stop on way into Breck as it’s right on Hwy 9 when you get off I70.

  6. I don't believe that will work, but it may depend on the airline.   American Airlines expressly states, even in the announcements, that gaiters, buffs and bandanas are not acceptable.  They have regular masks for you if that's all you have.   The announcement does refer to them as "douchey bro buffs".  Makes me laugh every time.

Masks in general make me laugh but that’s a different story for a different thread.

  7. Marion CC, Marion, KS. It's a 9 holer but the greens and fairways are excellent. Play the white tees on the front and blue tees on the back. We only have 120 golf members ($1K/yr) so we don't get a lot of traffic. You don't need a tee-time, just show up and play. I think it's $25 for 18 and $20 for a cart, put the envelope with money in the cash box. Honor system. We play 2 1/2 hour rounds with up to 6 in a group. Jackrabbit golf. I leave my office at 4:30 and I'm on the first tee in 10 minutes. It's not Prairie Dunes  but you can almost see it from here. Come on up and we'll play. Several of us volunteer to help our greenskeeper stay ahead of the mowing.

    You know Craig Schmitt?

  8. Really depends how much you travel.  If it's once a year I probably wouldn't get into a travel based card, especially one that is tied to a single brand.  Although you could transfer pts and the current Bonvoy bonuses are pretty good.  I think Bonvoy transfers to AA.    You might just look at a good cash back card but of course the bonuses don't go as far IMO.
I actually came here today to see if anyone has seen anything bonus wise.  I have two slots in my 5/24 with another one dropping at the end of the year.  I have every major airline already so I was thinking I'd grab the Bonvoy at 100k pts and/or the Capital One Freedom.    I COULD consider the Citi AA card at 50k.  I already have the Barclays AA.   I could do all three which would mean I wouldn't be eligible for a Chase until late 2022.

Probably average 25-30 nights a year in a hotel. I pulled the trigger on the Bonvoy.

  9. Credit card dummy here. I’ve had the same Cabelas Club card for 15 years and use it and pay off monthly. I don’t shop at Cabelas/Bass Pro enough anymore to get much benefit.

I’ve got excellent credit, over 800, and am wanting something for trips etc. We’ll be spending a week at the Gaylord Texan in June so I’ve looked into the Marriott card some but am wondering/open to if there’s a better option.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Ya couldn't find some fucking juice somewhere ?
You should try some scotch and Diet mountain dew.

I tended bar for a bit once upon a time. Our Thursday special was $1 wells, this was ‘06-‘10. Most of our clientele were regular locals but every once in a while the college cries would stumble in. Most of them had no clue what a well was and would order the “$1 well.” Our bartender pact was scotch and Dr Pepper for anyone dumb enough to order the “$1 well.”

  11. I survived off Panburger Partner and Tuna Partner (Hy-Vee knock offs) for several years.  I could eat for a couple days off a batch and dress it up to be relatively interesting.  At least by 20 year old drunk-ass standards.

Depending on the mood, we’d eat it on tortillas or over tater tots to doctor it up.

  12. Being able to boil a bag or 2 at a time and then easily dump them in to a cooler is pretty nice if you regularly boil crawfish.  Here is another option.

I have one of their 4 gallon fryers and am a big fan of it.  They make good stuff.

I was just coming to post this. They make great stuff. I’ve got a 6 gal fryer, 12 gal divided fryer and griddle and am very pleased with all.
