In my early 20s while partying on a raft of boats in Devil's Cove, I had an epiphany. Chasing pussy is a gazillion dollar industry. There was a few millions dollars worth of boats tied up in Devil's Cove. All for one purpose. Getting laid.
Then I thought about cars and all the other toys that dudes buy. All for the purpose of getting pussy.
Everything is about pussy.

Folly Beach. However, I am very biased as I spent summers there, as a teenager, in my uncles beach house. I have great memories from when it was still a relatively quiet beach town.

Steward, one of the main characters in the MPT story, was PE-backed Ponzi scheme that bought up distressed hospitals (St. Joe’s in downtown Houston being one of them) and then sold the real estate assets to MPT for inflated sums in order to quickly funnel cash back to investors. The hospitals that Steward owned were, at best, B-team players and already struggling financially when Steward acquired them. The one time I had to go to Dallas to meet with their C-suite, my immediate thought was that their lavish corporate HQ decidedly did not match the hospital facilities that they ran.
Steward declared bankruptcy and folded 6 months ago. To my knowledge all of their hospitals have been auctioned off at pennies on the dollar. They stopped paying all their vendors prior, and they owed upwards of $500,000,000 when they folded. Their CEO later became the first person to not show up for a congressional subpoena. He’s too busy on his $45,000,000 boat. There are a few good articles out there that expose the corruption. Hope that all involved get what they deserve, but that’ll never happen.

My search parameters are basically anything <$50k, non-Tesla. This will be a commuter car (~50 miles/day round trip) and charged at home every night, so not super worried about range/charging time/supercharger access. Just needs to be big enough for my 2 kids to hop in the back and run errands, etc, on the weekends. A little fun to drive would be a plus.
Here's an exhaustive list I've come up with, cars that you can buy right now today and fit my criteria:
- BMW i4 (lightly used, can't be had new for <$50k)
- Chevy Blazer
- Chevy Equinox
- Ford Mustang Mach E
- Hyundai Ioniq 5
- Hyundai Ioniq 6
- Hyundai Kona
- Kia Niro
- Kia EV6
- Nissan Ariya
- Toyota bZ4X
- Volkwagen ID4
Note that Honda has something also, but I personally have beef with Honda and won't consider them.
Off the bat, we're probably most interested in the Ioniqs, Mach E, and the i4. Haven't dug in to research or driven anything yet. Our other vehicle is a Toyota that we've been really happy with but reviewers unanimously shit on the bZ4X. Might still check it out. I had literally never heard of the Nissan until I started this process.
You can get a 1 year old Audi etron w/ 15,000ish miles for $45-50k. I’ve enjoyed mine because the 250 mile range is more than enough for my commute.

AA has a few flights a day from Phx and the SB airport is very easy. I’d love it if my daughter ended up there, she’s got 7 years to go though. I think you are close to me if I remember correctly, is she at Chap or DM?

Wasn't me, but my son has entered the chat twice in the last week. 4 years old, and dude is a solid gambler.
If your experience of having a boy is anything like mine, then you have 2 more years of this shit. Once he stopped shitting his pants his suddenly forgot how to wipe his ass. 9 yo daughter hasn’t left a mark since she was potty trained. For my 7 yo son it’s a weekly occurrence. Godspeed my friend.

I read today where the FDA is shutting down the compounding of these drugs. How is that going to work with you guys that are mid treatment? Seems like a shitty thing to do and of course big pharma gets another W.

Oh shit, this actually reminds me of the unequivocally worst show I've seen, David Allen Coe in like 2005. I had totally blanked this from my memory. But he was so incapacitated they carried him out and put him on a stool, and it was just 30 minutes of absolute gibberish.
I was at that show, only it was 2002 in Melbourne Beach Florida.
