  1.  As others have stated anyone can walk-in no Costco Membership needed.

due to laws that tried to prohibit speakeasies, stores cannot require private club membership to buy alcohol.  so you can buy it from the main club store, not just the attached but separate liquor store, without a membership.

Not a business major, I must admit. But how come you get to assume that being open an extra 52 days would keep sales static?

I can't be the only person who has ever driven by a chic fil a on a Sunday wishing they were open .....and subsequently not thought of them again even once during the routine of my week!

Again I didn't study business but it seems like chic fil a would increase revenue by more being open on Sundays..... How come a liquor store wouldn't?

most people plan ahead well enough that they're stocked on sunday and don't need to hit up the liquor store. and liquor stores are selling a product that doesn't immediately start to degrade upon service like chick-fil-a does.  so, while maybe they'll lose a small fraction of sales, it's no where near the savings by not being open that 7th day every week.  car dealers don't want to be open 7 days a week on the same principal.

  2. Marketplace, Make Me Smart, and The Uncertain Hour. Basically, anything put out by Marketplace. It's all top notch content from an actual news bureau.

I've listened to a few episodes of The Impact but it strikes me as a too dumbed down (like much of Vox's stuff). Doesn't help that the host has a penchant for using 'super' as an adverb.

Just started Atlanta Monster so kinda disappointed by the 'meh' reviews above.

  3. The Royal palace is nice. As is the thyssen museum. CaixaForum has something going on all the time.

But yeah, drink and eat pork. Don't know if La Latina is still the area to congregate after dark, but you may be a bit olds for that anyway. Plenty around Puerto del Sol after dark for the olds.

  4. when i was a kid i remember the lizards turning from green to brown and back.  we called them chameleons, though they weren't actually chameleons.

now the lizards are all just brown.

apparently the color changes lizards were Carolina Anoles, native to the southern US.  the brown-only lizards are Brown Anoles, native to Cuba and the Bahamas.  they got to Florida about 130 years ago, got to Houston about 30 years ago, and have been out-competing the color change lizards.
