I hated CDs so much at their introduction, but acknowledged the convenience of skipping around tracks and the easier storage, which also destroyed the attraction of cover art and liner notes.

I recall an interview in The Rolling Stone with Keith Richards. It was at the height of the Mick and Keith troubles so everyone was paying attention to that and seemed to overlook this: Richards extolled the virtues of vinyl as digital reproduced too brightly. Must have been 1988 because shortly afterwards I bought my first CD: Talk Is Cheap, Richards' debut.

  2. Alice Cooper. While Jagger and Elvis were wearing jumpsuits, Alice was wearing a ripped up union suit and platform boots. School's Out was their last great album. I think it was the drinking. Billiion Dollar Babies featured Elected and Hello, Hooray! Followed by Muscle of Love most notable for the cardboard album packaging, and The Man with the Golden Gun (a James Bond reject) and an inner sleeve with the band dressed as sailors and on the reverse getting beat up by a female gorilla. Cornball wasn't going over by then; National Lampoon had been on the magazine stands for years.

Alice had a schtick in Wayne's World on the history of Milwaukee. For more than fifteen years afterwards, every time Milwaukee came up in conversation, he pronounced it in Algonquin. Until someone finally took him aside and explained it wasn't funny anymore. It's like that childhood friend you lose track of. The one who never grew up.

Caesar salad dressing.  Only a few ingredients:  mayo, olive oil, lemon juice, black pepper, anchovy paste, Worcestershire, Dijon, and freshly grated Parmesan.

Definitely. I take the coddled eggs and oil route. Pretty much all salad dressings actually: green goddess, bleu cheese, ranch, real Italian vinaigrette. Put it in a gravy boat or bring out the oil and vinegar cruets and a lemon.

Some of y’all have seen my photography of abandoned places. I have been in dozens of such places, many of which were supposed to be haunted. Everything from abandoned hospitals/mental institutions to hotels. Never saw a goddamn thing. Ever. The spookiest thing probably has been needing to take a shit in an abandoned building with nothing to wipe with. Bye bye socks.

The best haikyo / urbex picture I've seen was of a rusted ore car with "#1" painted on its side in an abandoned mine. Captioned "The World's Best Mining Cart".

Used to follow a Japanese girl's blog. Abandoned amusement parks, the Paris subway and a cathedral rooftop, love hotels, castles ...  Lost my bookmarks and haven't been able to find her.

I keep thinking these are Sconnis that do this but theyre english men

We do. Just not as organized and in the winter at midnight. Suicide Hill was almost vertical. And more dangerous if using a carton from the appliance store's recycling bin instead of a toboggan.

Not finding picture of Suicide Hill. This was the bunny slope.

Doing reverse doughnuts in the snowy parking lot afterwards in someone's family's minivan really heightened the sensation we were going to tip over and die.

seems to me you don't hate the music as much as you hate yourself for liking it.

Evidently you and your little faggot buddy RDCornholer have never lived in Japan.

The genre I hate is bubblegum rock. Not pertaining to a particular country. There are more embarassments to the USA.

  8. Autobiography of Mark Twain, recently published in full for the first time faithfully following Twain's manuscript. In three volumes.

As a companion book, reading  Mark Twain's Aquarium: The Samuel Clemens - Angelfish Correspondence, 1905 - 1910 by John Cooley. Correspondence between Twain and his "angelfish" (a group of girls age twelve through sixteen). There is no evidence of abuse but with Twain being one of my favorite writers, I'd hate to see his reputation tarnished.

.... obsessed with the Weather Channel Fox News and believe whatever fucking nonsense they she saw on the Internet.

After my dad passed away, my brothers and sisters and I found my mom a nice apartment in a seniors' complex. Sometimes I dread the twice a week visits and plan them around football or baseball games and pick up a pizza or sandwiches to keep her busy. When did she go from being Mary Tyler Moore to Crazy Lady?

The worst was when she got a letter stating that for a charge, a locating company could find her lost stocks and bank accounts. No, the company was researching stocks which hadn't had any trading activity for years and dormant accounts. The scam artists were claiming finder's fees to locate stocks we already knew she owns. It has been four years and this subject still comes up. There was her first car accident in seventy years in the grocery store parking lot. I don't even want to call it a fender bender as it was so minor. The cop recommended a series of tests and doctor's exams to determine if she was capable of driving. She passed with a breeze but still feels he was biased against elderly people. Or the time she took her one year old car in to the dealership for an oil change - she puts on less than 1000 miles annually but already had the oil changed two or three times no matter what I told her -  and the grease monkey forgot to add new oil destroying the engine. Then there are Fox News discussion, internet topics and goings on at the complex. Mostly lunches or afternoon parties which she does not attend.

Married guys. How many red flags are you okay with before being in a serious relationship with a woman/girl? I recently met this gorgeous girl but she is not my type. Lust is stirring me in her direction. She is only 22 but is still in community college. The red flags. She smokes weed every day. She still calls her mom "mommy". She is very insecure. She has multiple tattoos and piercings. She likes to sleep a lot. She was willing to hang out even though she had a boyfriend. But dam, she is very beautiful.

Let her eat your pussy and get back to us.

  12. Caracas, Venezuela. Decorative crazed glass elevator kept getting prettier. Because the rebels were shooting at my hotel. Thought there were too many car valets at the hotel entrance, each carrying a chrome baton. Nope. Sawed-off shotguns. Fuck the rental car. Took a taxi to the embassy.

Walking down a busy cobblestone street on a blazing hot late afternoon near the Spanish Steps in Rome with my wife and her parents. Confronted by the almost naked most beautiful woman I have ever seen in my life. Just a wisp of a filmy scarf around her waist.  (Unfortunately no pix.)  Holding a baby begging "Money for the bambino". Felt a touch at my coat pocket. Reflexively swung back connecting hard with the little kid trying to pickpocket me. Gypsies. We'd walked into a spiderweb with the woman as the diversion. About twenty men started running away. They really do have olive skin and their hair is so black it shines as purple. Made me a hero with the inlaws, though.

Guatemala circa 1994. Conscripted teenagers in full BDU with automatic rifles on each street corner.

Afghanistan. When they say roadside landmine, a road is an unpaved camel path anywhere from the width of a truck to a mile wide.

I don't get why they can't make the gas tanks on the same side for every vehicle.

I would guess at least part of it is because not everyone drives on the same side of the road. Which then raises the question...why don't we all drive on the same side of the road?

Also, I'm assuming there are some design/engineering reasons behind some of the gas filler placements.

Not as much as you'd think.

US Virgin Islands drives on left. Was only a British colony for a few years in the very early nineteenth century. Didn't become American until 1916. Steering wheel and gas tank filler are usually on the left because most vehicles are American with left side gas tank fillers. USVI formerly the Danish West Indies (Denmark drives on right). The neighboring island of Puerto Rico which became American in 1898 drives on the right.

Germany drives on the right. Gas tank fillers are primarily on the right / passenger / "wrong" side to lessen the chance of being struck while fueling a car on a busy highway. Running out of gas in Germany must have been a big problem because the jerry can (German gas can - jerry is British WWI slang for Germans) preceded the implementation of the fuel gauge. The VW Routan has a left-sided filler. It's a rebadged Chrysler Town & Country.

Japan drives on the left. Gas filler located on right for convenience. However, from what I am finding, most Japanese left steering exports have left gas tank fillers. One notable exception: Nissan Fairlady Z AKA Nissan Z370. Right steering with right gas filler, left steering with right gas filler.

Someone mentioned checking the dashboard instrument display for a gas pump icon with an arrow indicating which side the gas tank filler is located. I remember travelling for business in a co-worker's car with an "analog" dashboard instrument display. There was an old fashioned red impact label reading GAS TANK and a magic marker arrow. He explained that he and his wife didn't drive a specific car. Whoever was out of the house earliest took whichever car was first in the driveway. He wasn't taking any chances after she continued driving with the check engine light on and didn't tell him about it until the following day.the next day.

tldr: There's no rhyme or reason to it.
