... old fashioneds with korbel ...

The state drink is the brandy old fashioned sweet which has very little to do with an old fashioned except the glass. Served with two pimento stuffed green olives. The orange slices and cherries are not a garnish. They're muddled with the sugar cubes, gomme syrup and bitters. BOFS predates 7 Up or Sprite. Ideally sparkling water to avoid the sodium of club soda.

Supper clubs, a special type of restaurant often confused with northwoods tavern by people from Illinois, are almost extinct. Similar to a fancy steak house but with a relish tray (four-story lazy susan with appetizers from crudité to hors d'oeuvre included free with the supper so think twice about the shrimp cocktail and bleu cheese wedge salad) entertainment with dancing and ice cream drinks for the ladies for dessert. Brandy Alexander, Grasshopper, Golden Cadillac, Pink Squirrel. Typically open Wednesday through Saturday late afternoons until 10:00pm. A couple was expected to spend the evening. If the menu didn't include surf 'n' turf (lobster and steak) or asparagus with hollandaise, it probably wasn't a supper club. No kiddie menu. The closest thing to the Madison area would probably be Ishnala.

Deer hunting. At Packer games there are those weeks when the stadium is blaze orange.

Fishing. Minnesota only has 10,000 lakes.

    Unusual glaciation.

    The Statue Of Liberty.

USA most drunken cities based on percent of binge drinking, percent of driving deaths involving alcohol, premature death rate:

    1. Appleton
    2. Oshkosh-Neenah
    3. Green Bay
    4. Madison
    5. Fargo, North Dakota
    6. La Crosse – Onalaska
    7. Fond du Lac

    8. Ames, Iowa
    9. Eau Claire
    10. Mankato-North Mankato, Minnesota
    11. Wausau
    12. Sheboygan

    13. Missoula, Montana
    14. Grand Forks, North Dakota
    15. Racine
    16. Janesville-Beloit
    17. Milwaukee-Waukesha-West Allis
    18. Lincoln, Nebraska
    19. Iowa City, Iowa
    20. Corvallis, Oregon

Unfortunately, Wisconsin regularly places in the top ten for drunk driving. Alcohol is definitely part of the culture.

Lots of places with names like Oconomowoc, Waukesha, Wauwatosa, Fond du Lac, Butte des Mortes. Always fun to watch a new anchor on the evening news screw up.

In restaurants, butter is served. Margarine by request. America's Dairyland.

Tiger meat or cannibal sandwiches. Cheese curds. Butter burgers. Frozen custard. Door County cherries. Poutine (technically Canadian but close enough). There are e few orchards with many different varieties of heirloom apples. Worth seeking out.

Knowing the lyrics to Build Me Up Buttercup and Sweet Caroline.

  4. Thank you for the neg rep, Pilot Error. Fucking asshole.

Maybe I should have responded NASCAR to Victoria.

Or NFL football. Never been to Lambeau? If you are on the sidelines, you cannot see the players across the field from the knees down. There is that much of a pitch. It isn't flat.

Or Green Bay Packers games in Milwaukee. In a stadium designed for baseball. The endzones didn't fit in the stadium.

    Poor fuckers asking stupid questions.

Import a Japanese toilet. All of those features built in plus there is a basin to wash your hands in the stream of clean water before it enters the tank after flushing. And choice of white noise.

I was on a bus heading from the Kohler golf course in Wisconsin to ORD. Someone asked the driver to make a pit stop. Exit the highway to a McDonald's.

Guy gets back on the bus all excited. "Guys! Guys! Guess what kind of toilets they have in there!"

Why does baseball allow each team to have their own dimensions for their ballpark? Different size walls as well. Yet every other sport I can think of every playing surface is the same measurements.

    Golf.

Chemistry kit included a Bunsen burner. Responsible handling of a flaming accelerant for a child.

My friend's dad's chemistry set included radium.

I remember a Science Fair. Took my father's glow-in-the-dark dial watch and put it in a beaker (to make it scientific) lined with black cloth and dry ice. You could see the radioactive scintillations.

When American sites/products who are marketing to Americans use kilograms and meters to describe their product.

Are you sure they're American? My German car was built in Greer, South Carolina.

Tanqueray makes a better martini, but it's cousin Gordon's is better here.

I'm a Beefeater 24 man. Sometimes ya gotta use regular Beefeaters, sometime ya gotta use Gordon's.

Try Death's Door London dry gin. Very versatile. Distillate: red winter wheat, corn, malted barley. Botanicals: coriander, fennel seeds, wild juniper from Washington Island. That's how it gets the kind of dramatically dumb Death's Door name. Washington Island is off the Door County (they leave off the death part to encourage tourism) peninsula in the Porte des Mortes (Door of the Dead). Many French ships sank in the strait sailing to Baie Verte (Green Bay).

Not a big fan of ice in my drink. I prefer straight up martinis. If it's a warm afternoon I will make the trip to Sonic or buy a block of ice at the liquor store and chop into large chunks. Have not graduated to Japanese bartender level.

Why the fuck did they give the doll a penis?

    Remember the Popeil Pocket Fisherman?

No one in their right mind would take that piece of shit as serious fishing gear. Ron Popeil admitted that it was purchased by elderly women as gifts for nephews.

I'm thinking Gay Bob is the Popeil Pocket Fisherman of gay gift giving.
