Had a fortunate event last week so Iām shopping for something appropriate to celebrate. Came across a couple insane options in DC at this DuPont Circle spot. They probably have 90 of the 100 bottles on my ābuy this instantly and donāt look backā list, but with these prices itās less of a celebration and more of an investment.

Gonna be interesting to see what I wind up snagging... sadly it wonāt be either of the two above, but it will be noteworthy. -

Ok, so this is outstanding and I honestly canāt wait to dip a cigar in and spark it proper. A bit too bold for a weeknight pour but just right for Saturday night.

FiL, who is a great guy despite being from Ohio, pulled out this gem. The bottle is way cooler than what was inside and I wish he only had a Texas incarnation.
Also happened to taste my first EHT Barrel Strength and got DAMN that is a fire pour. Delicious, but filled with unending heat! -

I have a love/hate relationship with the bourbon market... My eyes got HUGE when I walked in the door, but I quickly shot the guy behind the counter a sour as fuck look.

Despite there being quite a few bottles on my list behind the counter, I ended up only pulling the trigger on the Cigar Blend because:
1) Iāve never seen it on a shelf anywhere
2) Of all his overpriced hooch, it wasnāt that unreasonable.
Also snagged a handle of Old Charter for $29... hard to beat 8YO Buffalo Trace juice for that price.
This bottle is also sitting empty at our AirBnB and I kinda wish there was a sip left:

i almost typed this word for word.
a couple of years ago, we were at some restaurant where a couple of us had dinner, but then others joined us after for drinks, and i wanna say we were drinking blantons or whatever was ~top shelf to sip.Ā a friend of a friend joined us, and we ordered him one, and when it came, he was like, "gotta catch up" and went to shoot it, and the whole table was like, "no no no!" but he did it anyway.Ā moron.
if i never take a shot again, i'm fine with that.Ā i'll shotgun a beer, but that's about it.
I donāt think Iāll ever stop shooting high quality tequila... yes, I sip it too, but I have ZERO qualms throwing back Dragones or similar like itās Cuervo on 2-1 night.
Bourbon? Never. -

Bourbon
in Food and Travel
Itās special stuff indeed - Makes one heck of a cocktail too if youāre feeling generous.
Had a nice 1-2 punch myself tonight. Saw Bookerās Rye on the rail for the first time and couldnāt resist. Was easily the hottest rye Iāve had to date but the finish was mighty clean. There was too much going on at dinner to allow tasting notes to come through, but it was certainly delicious. At $150 a pour however (JFC...) I cannot recommend.
Moved on to ETL afterwards, where the barman was feeling more generous, and that did the trick.
Maybe Iām just becoming a pussy, but I have a bunch of rye here at home thatās better... and wonāt cost you a kidney.
