  1. Pushed some extra duckets towards Beto and several other competitive races tonight. God willing, Texans will finally be free of Canadian tyranny when Cruz gets his walkkngorders...

  2. Bill Burck produced to the committee a document from Kavanaugh’s tenure in the White House Counsel’s Office that references a “game of dice.” After a reunion with friends in September 2001, Kavanaugh emailed: “Apologies to all for missing Friday (good excuse), and **growing aggressive** after blowing still another game of dice (don’t recall). Reminders to everyone to be very, very vigilant w/r/t confidentiality on all issues and all fronts, including with spouses.”

After the trip, there’s lots of virtual high-fiving all around, including an email from Kavanaugh in which he talks about gambling, getting aggressive and keeping secrets. That email was dated Sept. 10, 2001.

It’s not clear why these emails were marked “committee confidential,” and Grassley’s office didn’t return a request for comment.

  3. I was wondering the same thing.

Twitter - Mere hours after they went to print. Several high profile peeps were attacking the paper for being so reckless and she jumped into the fray... it didn’t end well.
  4. Yeah, the Times got used in this deal.  If the authors of that story weren't complicit in it, they are morons for not seeing the motivations for the leak.

Absolutely - Their rush to print has greatly impacted their credibility... Haberman’s meltdown confirms that they know they done goofed.

Being so cavalier with a bombshell like this, and not clearly understanding the motivations behind it, truly make me question their capabilities for investigative journalism.

Way to play riggghhhhtttt into their hands, NYT!

  5. Jonathan Swan is the national political reporter for Politico.  Today, he held an AMA on Reddit.  This stands out, but not at all surprising:

Edit:  the link to the reddit page for some reason is this huge deal instead of just a link:

    Q:
Are there any particular topics you honestly don't believe is receiving enough press coverage or visibility?

     A:
Almost everything that's important across the federal government. I cover the White House, but I try to avoid as much as possible the gossip beat. I have covered Trump's trade agenda very closely, for example.
But so much is happening across the agencies that isn't getting national media attention. Skilled and knowledgable beat reporters, including some of my colleagues, closely follow the daily happenings at HHS, Energy, Interior etc. But they rarely rise to cable TV news.
A senior Trump administration gleefully noted to me a few months ago that their agency was doing things that would be very controversial in a normal world. They have almost no oversight from the White House, Trump doesn't care about their issue area, and the national media is obsessed with the Trump tweet of the day. That's a bad combination and means they can operate with little scrutiny.

Cool, so that could be ANY agency. A little help would be nice if he actually wanted to be the agent of change. I could assume that it’s the EPA, given all the complete bullshit they’ve pushed over the last year, but it could also be the NRC and that’s even more troubling...
  6. It's based on the life of Richard Wershe Jr, who became the youngest FBI informant ever at age 14. He really did grow up dealing cocaine on the streets of Detroit. So it's basically a movie about a snitch.

Yeah, except the marketing would lead you to believe that he was a fucking kingpin, which accounts for possibly 5 minutes of the film.

Couple enjoyable moments, some solid acting and cinematography, but the story mostly fell flat. That ending too... woof!
