  1. I got stranded in Anchorage for a week in 2007 or 8 when Mt. Redoubt was spewing ash over the city. Continental wouldn't take a chance of frying their engines. Eventually the hotel wouldn't let people go outside lest you suck in ash glass. Got me out of jury duty and my next trip, so good times.

  2. Gosh, I hope they don't get TP'd or (heaven forbid) egged.  Did they get any recent"is your refrigerator running?" phone calls?

Do you have Prince Albert in a can?

  3. Meh. Good for them. They've left a billion dollars annually on the table the last 15 years. If you don't want to pay for the bags, get their card. Moving your fatass and your wife's steamer trunk 7 miles up at 8 miles a minute burns fuel. Fuel costs money. Airlines should charge by the pound.

The problem with this dumbass industry is that it gives away products, and their customers then get addicted to it. Every first class seat is filled, yet only 25 percent of the people bought a first class ticket. I've seen grown men throw a toddler fit because they didn't get an upgrade. Bitch pay for it; problem solved.

    It's a fucked up industry.

  4. Ana, guess they should not have been there.
KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russia launched heavy aerial attacks on Ukraine for a second night Saturday after the United States stopped sharing satellite images with the Ukrainian government, officials said. At least 20 people have been killed.

We have the satellite data; we just don't share it because our president is a Russian asset. Unbelievable what the party of Reagan has become. It pleases me Trump will leave this planet like Reagan...shitting his pants and never remembering he was president. We're already halfway there.

  5. 7 hours ago, Satchel said:

That Texas could be so big and so backward, is disgusting:

    https://www.texastribune.org/2025/02/28/texas-measles-abbott-lawmakers-response/

State and local health officials are setting up vaccine clinics and encouraging people to get the shot, which is more than 97% effective at warding off measles.

But neither Gov. Greg Abbott nor lawmakers from the hardest hit areas have addressed the outbreak publicly in press conferences, social media posts or public calls for people to consider getting vaccinated. State and local authorities in West Texas have not yet enacted more significant measures that other places have adopted during outbreaks, like excluding unvaccinated students from school before they are exposed, or enforcing quarantine after exposure.

The response to Texas’ first major public health crisis since COVID is being shaped by the long-term consequences of the pandemic, experts say — stronger vaccine hesitancy, decreased trust in science and authorities, and an unwillingness from politicians to aggressively push public health measures like vaccination and quarantine.

It's christianity. 0/10. Would not recommend. Remember that era called the dark ages?

  6. Endeavor Air and Delta are correcting disinformation in social media containing false and misleading assertions about the flight crew of Endeavor Air 4819.

    - Captain: Mesaba Airlines, a progenitor company of Endeavor Air, hired the captain in October 2007. He has served both as an active duty Captain and in pilot training and flight safety capacities. Assertions that he failed training events are false. Assertions that he failed to flow into a pilot position at Delta Air Lines due to training failures are also false.

    - First Officer: Hired in January 2024 by Endeavor Air and completed training in April. She has been flying for Endeavor since that time. Her flight experience exceeded the minimum requirements set by U.S. Federal regulations. Assertions that she failed training events are false.

Both crew members are qualified and FAA certified for their positions.

  7. Dumb question, as I don't partake:  if you try to fly with weed product from a state where that product is legal, does "security" care if you're landing in a state where it's not legal?  Do they screen on that basis?

Nobody cares domestically. After international arrivals, you may see a drug dog, but that is extremely rare. The beagle brigade looking for unlawful food and seeds is what's the most common search in the USA.
