  1. I was hoping for Sorber, and he goes to OKC. Of course! Carter Bryant couldn't even get minutes on his college team. Who the hell is going to play center on this team outside of Victor? I guess they're going to trade for someone, because there aren't a lot of good centers available in free agency.

The barbacoa tacos at De Nada Cantina way out on the end of E 1st are fucking excellent.  Good lord!

For $6.50 per taco it better be godly.

Our Secretary of Mother Fucking Defense is an out and about Christian nationalist extremist that has flat out admitted in so many words that he would like to engage in a modern Crusade but sure, go off king.

    e: grammar

And our ambassador to Israel is also a Christian nationalist nutjob. Further, both Rubio and Cruz have argued just this week that we have some sort of ridiculous, biblical need to further israel's agenda. How in the world are you not all righteously pissed off that our nation is completely submitted to Israel?

Had lunch at Moreno today.  WTF is wrong w/ you people? Zero people in line at 11:45 and *maybe* 10 people eating (including the 2 of us) before noon.  Filled up a little bit after 12, but oddly all olds - like geriatric olds.  My 1st time here and it was excellent.  Brisket was really good, but the ribs and sausage were excellent - some of the best ribs I've eaten.  Much bigger menu than I expected and I'll have to go back for some pork belly and a beef rib at some point.

I’ve eaten there twice and never had anything good. That’s my limit for restaurants. I’ll never go back. They must have exceptionally bad QC.

  5. I went to micklethwaite this weekend, my first time at their brick and mortar. The line was surprisingly small and I had our food in about twenty minutes. The brisket was an A, perfectly seasoned and well cooked, but not perfect. The Czech Tex sausage was a B+. Really well seasoned, but too dry (how does a business that's been opened this long make dry sausage?). The pork ribs were a B+ as well. Again, well seasoned, but a bit tough and dry. I think they were cooked at too high of a temp. The sides were spectacular. The greens were an A+ and some of the best I've ever had. The cole slaw was great with lemon and poppy seeds. The Mac and cheese was also stellar, especially the bites with the browned pieces of cheese. We had a great time and enjoyed our food, but it wasn't as good as the times I've had it catered. They really need to work on QC of the actual bbq.

And at DL proper, in-state we've offered:

Jaimeon Winfield (#66, #8): Wanted him. Took a bag from USC, we'll see if it holds up

Keith Dotie (NA, #63): Offered him like the day before he committed to SMU and shut his recruitment down for now

    And that's it!

    Winfield and Carlton are elite.

The ratio of championship off seasons in places like Austin, LA, Seattle and Miami vs championship off seasons in shit holes like Baton Rouge, Tuscaloosa, Clemson and Athens is firmly in the latters favor. Championship caliber programs have their players stay on campus because that the expectation and culture of the program that is built to compete at the elite level. Austin is nice so hopefully our players stick around in the offseason is the kind of unserious approach to football that defined Texas during our 2010’s dark age. Now obviously in the era of NIL having access to Austin’s corporate NIL is an absolute super power to turbo charge the football program.

Athens is a cool town. I loved visiting there when I was younger.

Wasn’t there reports from Team USA workouts that Flagg more than held his own against NBA players?

They televised some of the scrimmages. You can view it yourself. Flagg held his own for sure.

Kevin O'conners latest mock draft (Yahoo) has us taking this guy at 14. Definitely need to use that pick for a shooting wing like him or a big.

McNeeley is a terrible athlete though. I don't think he can ever be even an average defender. I doubt the spurs would draft him. I'd much rather draft a big at 14.

  10. I was born here, so don't be a presumptive jerk. I would much rather live in an Austin with great public transportation. And the point of my post was to make fun of the goobers that are literally afraid of public transportation. All the people in here that are against public transportation in Austin come across as social misanthropes that would be better off living somewhere else. Just a bunch of grumpy old men who worship at the alter of the car and wish every city was built like Houston. Notice I didn't defend the running of cap metro, but you guys don't offer any solutions, you just whine.

KG BBQ this morning.  Line started forming around 10:20 and there was about 20-25 at open.  Ordered to go, so no pictures.

Pomegranate pork ribs, moist brisket, sumac and cinnamon rubbed lamb shoulder, and mac & cheese.  Ribs remain some of my favorites but brisket wasn't great.   Left too much fat on during the trim and intramuscular fat was not fully rendered.  Tried a couple bites of the lamb - well cooked and tasty.  Can't wait to have it with the chimichurri later.

    Went to Parish Barbecue afterwards.

Three meat plate with moist brisket, smoked ham, pulled duck, remoulade slaw, and crawfish cornbread dressing.  Again, no pictures.  The brisket was incredible - they tossed in the entire burnt end.  Smoked ham was good.   Pulled duck was topped with duck skin cracklins and was great.  I like the remoulade sauce and will probably try to recreate it at home.   Crawfish cornbread dressing is as good as it sounds.

They have worked out a few kinks since they opened a few weeks ago.   If you haven't been, put it on your list.   Well worth it.

That sounds like a great bbq day. If you ever go back to KG I highly recommend the rice bowl with the smoked kofta. I've got to get over to Parrish.

Yeah. NYC subway only had 10 murders, 561 felony assaults, a rape of a corpse and a sleeping rider burned alive last year.  Texas cowards couldn’t handle that.

Would you care to tell me how many deaths from driving accidents there were on Texas roads last year? It was a heck of a lot more than 10.
