Holy Crap ... the pizza at Milano Cafe on Southwest Parkway is fantastic and priced right.  17 bucks for the large Arbreshe pizza covered with prosciutto, albaneze sausage and feta cheese ... OUTSTANDING. Best pizza I've had in Austin in forever. Also had the veggie pizza and it was super.  But that Arbreshe .. I am going to dream about it.

Their pepperoni rolls are also fantastic. Good spot all around.

Top games this week...Lots of byes at the lower level, but lots of "prove-it" games for typical non-powers:

    Westfield-Spring

    Tompkins-Katy

    Liberty-Frisco

    Helobious Special!  South-Harlingen

Upset Special!   San Marcos @ Westlake

    Wall-Shiner in Fredricksburg

    Clarendon @ Vega

    Van @ Liberty-Eylau

    Argyle @ Melissa

    Pleasant Grove @ Carthage

    Sinton @ Rockport-Fulton

    Canadian @ Spearman

Any idea why Wall-Shiner is being played in Fredricksburg?

  3. Winston's Kitchen is great, especially the Jerk chicken wings. I love Banthai, Brown's BBQ, Patrizi's, Bombay Dhaba, Lucky's Italian Sandwiches, El Primo, and Casita Nicole Antojitos as well. Lots of good food trucks in Austin. I probably eat at food trucks more than restaurants these days.

I'm tempted to simply say they aren't, but I have been to some that come petty close... although i really didn't like Fogo de Chao. We have non-chain ones that are much better. Beef is beef, and while there are some differences they are minor.  Most everything unique to Brazil can be found by restaurants here. The biggest difference is what else you get there. I fell in love with chicken hearts and I've never seen those in the U.S..

Chicken hearts are pretty popular at izakaya around the US. I've eaten them several times at izakaya in multiple cities.

Texas QBs in his rolling 3 year ::

Charles Wright. Cole Lourd. Maalik Murphy. 2023 QB-to-be-named later.

Way more questions than answers there, imo. I wouldn't disparage a WR having concerns about that group. If Sark could close the deal on Manning, there would be answers - until he does, there will be questions.

Now do the same for SMU. Is it better than Texas?

I just wish the great burger joints also had great fries.  Hopdoddy's gets kinda close, but it's still a bit short on both.  Seeking recs.

Dan's curly fries are top notch.

Took the kiddos to Dan’s for dinner and can confirm that the double cheeseburger with jalapeños and a side of onion rings still slams.

It's a shame they switched from fresh to pickled jalepnos a few years back. Still love their burgers, but that definitely brought them down a peg in my opinion.

Just had a double 1/4 lber with bacon and cheese from Dan's on North Lamar. The way it comes. No fries. No drink. Just a cup of water.

It's a perfect cheeseburger. I sat there eating it and thought "you couldn't improve this if you tried to".

Maybe they were especially on their game but man - I'd have a hard time putting anything in Austin over the burger I just ate.

Yup. I judge all other Austin restaurants to Dan's. The quality to price ratio is the highest in the city. Just wish that they had never switched their fresh japlepenos for pickled- not nearly as good grilled.

They were alright, nothing special. The spicy sandwich is much better. I'll go try their new fish sandwich when they start selling it.

    Feel the SPEED

This board loves to make fun of him, but his footwork and route running are fantastic. Kid is constantly open, Mosses kids all the time, shows an aptitude for blocking, and has excellent hands. I think he will end up starting at Texas eventually.

    Gerry's eval:

    image.thumb.png.3c3e89bfdba2cdbac26af21bd1406674.png

He has the suddenness and versatility of Bijan but sounds like he doesn't currently possess the strength to run through contact and get yards between the tackles. More top end speed.

Sounds like a Reggie Bush starter kit to me, can be huge impact player but not the total package rb that Bijan is, at this stage at least.

Gerry's eval is kinda funny. I just watched his JR season highlights and the dude had about 30 broken tackles in 3 minutes of film. Does not seem to be a weakness of his.
