I follow a lot of these players on Instagram as well as Twitter. They are not social justice warriors. It’s just “cool” to be woke right now if you’re an athlete. The thing is they are just as big of jackasses as the rest of us were in college. Partying and chasing tail are still the priority with wokeness way down the list.

From my interactions with Texas football players while I was in college I'd say a lot of them were actually huge assholes. Some were chill, but many were huge pricks with terrible social skills.

Anyone wondering if the brocks are distancing from all the recent activism and swirl around the program?    I get the feeling these dudes are about football and don’t want to get involved in the ‘woke’ struggle in Austin.

No. There is zero indication that this is factual.

You won't find a person more on board with taking both Mukuba and Lemear than me. I will say that HS stats (esp pancakes/PBUs/hurries/TFLs) are very tough to compare and often questionable. Also, your WR has to be targeted to make the PBU. etc ...   they are both outstanding players - the deal with Mukuba -- and I'll echo @Fud a bit and take it a step further - you remember the Michael Griffin INT in the Rose Bowl vs. USC? That's a play that only a very few very elite S could dream of making. Mukuba is capable of that, imho.

I hear ya. I'm not 100% sure I agree with the idea of Mukuba being an elite Safety, but we are close enough in agreement on their abilities. Time will tell, and I'm glad someone else here thinks we should recruit both.

I think they're different stylistically, and Mukuba's strengths (coverage ability and range) are rarer and more valuable than Lemear's (sure tackling and reading plays). Mukuba is more similar to Adimora while Lemear is more similar to, as you pointed out, Chris Brown. Imo.

Lemear had way more PBUs than Mukuba though. Seems like Lemear is better at coverage ability to me.

  5. I just watched the Junior season tapes of Andrew Mukuba and Devin Lemear back to back. I think Lemear might actually be the better safety prospect. He reads and reacts to the play faster than Mukuba, and has a great feel for the game in general. Look how many PBUs he had in a single season, pretty impressive. He reminds me a bit of Chris Brown.  I'm not sure that Mukuba is a better safety prospect than receiver prospect. He looks a lot like Kelvontay Dixon as a WR. I  would be plenty happy if we received both of their commitments and just treated Mukuba as an Athlete recruit.

And apparently Summermoon has stopped selling gallons to go of their cold brew. It's no longer even on the menu of the Westlake location, and when I stopped by the original location on S. First, which still had it on the menu, the counterperson told me that "they were out" and he didn't know when they would have more. (WTF? I thought they cold brewed it on-site?). My guess is that they don't want to deal with buying gallon containers anymore. I ordered a half gallon from Little City Roasters that has free delivery in the Austin area for delivery tomorrow but it's not cheap ($14 for a half gallon). Anyone else know a good place to buy cold brew in bulk?

Check out Tiny House Coffee. Their cold brew is the best I've ever had, and they deliver.

Does the P Terry's sammich come with their disgusting fries?

Their fries are great. You just have to eat them right away. Some of y'all think that fast food should still be good 20 minutes after it has been made and steaming in a bag. You eat that in your car or at the restaurant, you don't take it home.

I mean, this is all subjective, but I don’t see how someone could consider Presley’s hudl not superior you Cain. They’re not even close.

Presley looks faster, and might be a better athlete overall, but he doesn't show very good footwork setting up the DB. Cain has great footwork, as does M. Jackson. Presley also only runs go routes and screens. Cain runs quite a few different routes and shows that he is a willing and competent blocker.  There is a lot more to being a good WR than just being fast and athletic.

  9. Presley's hudl is not clearly superior to Cain's, or we wouldn't be having this conversation. I'm nonplussed by him and Ketron. I think there are better recievers out there that we haven't even offered. I think we should be offering quite a few more guys this cycle than we normally do.

Cain seems like a guy we could have got after seeing what happens with K. Jackson, Presley, M. Jackson, Alexis, ect.

Ketron Jackson and Presley aren't all that great though. I'm not sure Cain is worse than either of them. Michael Jackson and Alexis both look pretty good though.

  11. With our lackluster WR recruiting so far I thought I'd look for some under-recruited and/or regional guys that I think we should offer. First up is Dominic Lovett. He is certainly not under-recruited, but he is from a state that we've had some recruiting success in and a place that I wish we would recruit more heavily. He has great speed and quickness with the ability to stop and start on a dime. Can play inside or outside.  Bryce Stephens reminds me of a taller Jalen Reagor.  He is good at everything: receiveing, rushing, returning, and even playing DB. My final player to highlight is recent TCU commit Chase Jackson. It's clear that the recruiting services are not giving Oklahoma prospects the credit that they deserve. This guy is 6'2", has great wheels, long arms, and soft hands.  All three of these guys have the potential to be elite and I hope we offer them ASAP.

Gonna be spoiled for choice here in Crestview with Little Deli, Desano, Buffalina, Backspace, etc.

    Wrong thread

  13. 247 had a good article out today about the fastest prospects in Texas. Everyone knows that Camar Wheaton and  LJ Johnson are the cream of the crop, but there are some really good second level guys this year in Texas. There were three RBs on the list that caught my eye. Take a look at the film for DQ James. He backed up Kevontre Bradford last year and gets to showcase this year. He's built like a bowling ball and can really fly. Reminds me of a certain OU RB that used to burn us regularly. Jordan Jenkins is an East Texas kid who looks built enough to play college ball this year. He runs a bit too upright many times, but I love how violent he is. The last RB that stood out to me is JP Martin. He's a slasher with a good combo of speed and power. All of these guys look like better RB prospects than Jonathan Brooks. Brooks has great vision and cut-back ability, but looks slow playing 3A competition. I hope if we take him that it is as an OLB/ATH rather than a true RB.

Besides being younger and more active until my mid-30s, I skipped breakfast and ate lunch around noon and supper around 6. I rarely snacked after that. I was thinner then.

I’ve been thinking about returning to the intermittent fasting diet I didn’t even know I was on, but for two factors.

First, I like whole milk in my coffee (I didn’t drink coffee when I was younger), and I suspect that this may screw it up.

Second, my wife and I both took early retirement, and she has always been a breakfast eater. She likes having breakfast and supper together. Not so much as far as lunch goes.

I've read that milk in your coffee doesn't mess up IF. God I hope that's true, because I'm right there with you. I don't like black coffee much, and have a cup with warmed whole milk every morning.
