  1. Mi Ranchito in Manchaca is great. They have really good tortas and tamales. Texas Keeper Cidery is also in Manchaca. Fantastic dry cider and really beautiful grounds, especially in the spring time. There's a Taco Palenque in New Braunfels. It's nice to get a pirata on your way up to Austin. The Root Cellar Cafe in San Marcos is pretty decent too.

What the fuck @Bolero88? What in my answer to Hayden made you cry?

Cry? No. Your response was just listing sterotypes.  I don't think of America as being white and christian, and I don't think of China as only being Han. I understood your point, but I think it is extremely reductionist.

I don't know if you noticed, but I'm not the only one pointing out the issues with this class. Not by a long shot.

But by all means, continue to stick you head in the sand and whine about anyone who doesn't have the same rosy outlook you do.

We have Marquess Caldwell, Kenyatta Watson, Kitan Crawford, and Chris Adimora (recruited as a safety, but played corner this year) as freshmen, redshirt freshman and sophomore corners. No need to include Boyce or potentially Woodard. Even if Cook, Green, and Jamison all leave after next year we would still have decent depth. Hopefully we land three CBs next year. I'm not saying I only wanted one CB prospect this year, but it's not the end of the world.

You've lost your mind in this thread. You've said people dont move to Houston for a better life? Lol. Half of California moved here for a better life. Most of South Florida was NYers looking for something better. For every person who wants the hustle and bustle of a city that never sleeps, there is someone who wants the peace and tranquility that comes with life here. I hate the cold. I hate snow. I ABSOLUTELY love cars. I have 6 of them. I love to just hop in a car and cruise. Maybe test the HP every once in awhile late at night with a quick freeway blast. You can't do that anywhere in NY ever, and no amount of money is going to change that.

We haven't talked about the desire to feel safe. Wanting a community feel, better schools, or simply just to be away from it all. I mean, as I type this I am sitting in my house and it is dead silent. I can't hear a single thing, and its glorious!! There are a 1000 reasons why people move from cities like NY that have nothing to do with the coat of living.

And the cost of living argument? Really? I can't understand how that is even remotely a topic. If you wanted to rent an apt in central Houston, close to everything, without a car, it sure as hell is going to be cheaper than it would be in NY.

NYC is way safer than Houston. Houston is pretty damn violent, and the property crime rate is pretty bad too.

I'm ordinarily not particularly reactionary, but something really does need to be done about the homeless situation in Austin.

Not only has the number and visibility of homeless skyrocketed over the last 5 years or so, but the number of seemingly deranged homeless is what is concerning.

I work downtown, and between those resembling staggering, lifeless zombies, and those in a state of psychosis screaming at the top of their lungs into the ether it has begun to feel dangerous.

It's a societal problem. Cities can do little to nothing to ameliorate it. It needs to be addressed at the federal and state level.

Texas Alpha Sig Ep here.  Did not rape.

And girls go to frat parties for the same reason frat guys go to parties......to have fun and maybe get laid (willingly).  They also want to work on their MRS degree.  I'm sure you GDIs can't imagine why hot rich girls are attracted to rich frat guys.

Might want to work on your self-awareness.

Not sure if it would burn, but I'm also not sure the relatively delicate flavors associated with rosemary and sage are going to make it through the smoke.  The salt and pepper obviously will.

Rosemary is an extremely strong flavor.

  8. Went to Sazon for the first time in years recently. The cochinita pibil was very good, as was the rice that accompanied it. The beans were quite bland though. The duck enmoladas at El Alma is one of my favorite dishes in town, and the chilango margarita is fantastic if you like spicy booze. My favorite Mexican place right now is Lichas Cantina. Amazing food, good drinks, and great prices.

  9. Sichuan River and Din Ho are my favorite Chinese spots. Lots of good spicy food at Sichuan River, and good Chinese bbq and seafood at Din Ho. Get a whole smoked duck at Din Ho if you've never had one before. The cumin lamb and mapo tofu at Sichuan River are both really good.

Most consistent run of actual football discussion in weeks and people don't like it? It even related back to WR and TE numbers in the class.

It's not like this kind of stuff actually gets talked about much on the football board.

No, I don't like it. This is a recruiting forum. Most of the last 3 pages have been anything but recruiting. To top it off, most of the "discussion" regarding TEs and WRs has been absolutely, dumbfoundingly stupid.

Okay, so you have no issue with ED, but you’re issue is with government wasting your tax dollars. I think we can all sympathize with that.

Austin building a public library for 120 million that no one will use was a great example of that. However, I think most people seem to think you automatically assuming HSR will be a clusterfuck like CA is bit premature. Boston’s Big Dig was a certified “boondoggle” as you might say, its cost overrun was more than 13 Billion dollars but no one would claim we shouldn’t build tunnels anymore because Boston is retarded.

The Austin library is already a landmark and is busy every day of the week. Have you ever even been there, especially on a Saturday? You could not be more wrong.

Had two of those on Sunday night, can confirm they are awesome. This will sound like a humble brag, but I get to eat at a ton of world class restaurants living in Manhattan and am nevertheless always jealous of you guys every time I eat at Suerte. That place is just outstanding. It will absolutely have a Michelin star in the future.

Unfortunately, it won't have a chance to get a Micheling star. Michelin doesn't rate restaurants in most of the US, just NY, Chicago, and San Francisco (how are they here over LA?).
