ignore it, and listen to the barking carnival one, nobis60, Kip's Big Boy and WW McClyde.

somehow both way better and more off the rails.

I listened to the one that came out recently, and it was horrifically bad. Terrible jokes, everything is somehow sexualised, and it didn't seem like they had any insight that I didn't have. I turned it off half way through.

The influx of new posters has really fucked this board up.

This board has been fucked up for years. I don't think anything I've read the past couple of days is worse than some shit I've seen from people that have posted here everyday for the past 5 years.

This is a false dilemma you have created here. There are lots of clean programs Michigan, ND, UW, Stanford It’s just we never really lose recruits to them. Who do we lose recruits to OSU, Bama, UGA, Aggy and LSU. What do you think all these programs have in common?

We lose recruits to Stanford regularly...

  4. I went to Intero last weekend for happy hour and it was amazing. Had HH specials of a spaghettini dish with grilled corn and sottocenare,  a wagyu stuffed parker house roll, grilled carrots, and corn fritters, as well as a non-HH serving of tagliatelle and wagyu. The  tagliatelle was actually the only thing I wouldn't order again, too salty. Everything was was sublime, including some really fancy hadmade chocolates. That was one of the best Italian meals I've had in Austin. I'd put it above Andiamo for me.

  5. The pollo frito at Tropicana on North Lamar is some of the best I've ever had. Half a chicken for $9.50 too. They serve great Cuban food in general. Highly recommend.

I am sorry but this just doesn’t hold up, we had no replacement for Leal or Cain and it looks very possible we strike out again at RB and DL and that take as less than ideal situation and turns it into a dire one.

We got Whittington. Probably gonna be better than Cain.

  7. I went to Santa Fe for Christmas and had an amazing time. The two restaurants that I would absolutely recommend to anyone are Sazon and Pasquals. Both were delicious and neither was crazy expensive. Meowwolf was also very interesting. We spent four hours there and enjoyed every minute of it. I will say that I thought Maria's was only OK, a lot of the food was pretty bland to me. Jambo was hit or miss. Their black bean curry soup was phenomenal but the goat stew was inedible.  The Drury Inn is nothing fancy, but clean and well run, and it's right off the square and the price is right. They have free breakfast and free happy hour too.

Thank yous to everyone in this thread who pointed me in the right direction.

Ya since our first was born we've stopped walking to Radio because that area is now dangerous.  Besides the feces, needles, intoxicated people there, there has also been a few sexual assualts, 1 stabbing, and at least one case of indecent exposure towards the elementary school that I can think off offhand.

Our kiddo just turned 2, so it's been a pretty steep nosedive and we've been in the neighborhood around 5 years.  We were so pumped when Radio and El Chilito went in for the walkablity factor, but we just don't go to either unless driving.  Shit like this is why people leave for the burbs.

I live right nearby Dan's. It is not dangerous at all. I've never seen needles. I've never heard of anyone getting assaulted, let alone seen it. Homeless people never attack children. 90%+ of violence towards children is from family members and family friends. I don't like the fact that there is a damn homeless camp under 290, but you and others like you are blowing things WAY out of proportion.

    1) Never been a fan of P. Terry's either.  Ok burger (and relatively cheap for what you get) but nothing there that's a "wow."
    2) All fast food fries start tasting like shit 5 minutes after purchase.  Most of the time by the time you get home with them, unless they just popped out of the fryer, they've become shitty.  Lesson:  eat in as much as possible, fast food (or most just-cooked food for that matter) ain't good after 7-8 minutes.

Exactly this! You eat in or immediately in the car. All fast food is terrible after a few minutes steaming itself in a paper bag. P Terry's fries are actually some of the better fast food fries out there (I love shoestring and Belgium style fries).

Also, Sandy's only had a couple of good things to order: corn dogs and fried chicken sandwiches. They don't even sell fried chicken sandwiches anymore. They could close tomorrow and I wouldn't care at all.

Oh is racism not ok in Austin now? Someone should let the minorities know, assuming they can find them.

Austin has been majority minority for over a decade. This is not even close to being accurate. Bad job.

  11. Y'all bitching and moaning about Millennials and Gen Z need to get a grip. You are looking at a couple of little bitches on Twitter and getting your panties in a bunch. There are tens of thousands of students at UT, don't act like a group that large of Boomers or Gen Xs would have any fewer assholes.

Gusto is not good.  Like, at all.  It’s also probably the reason they closed months ago.  Moose out front should have told you.

Agreed with Italic.  It was generally above-average Italian food at a very decent price but I don’t even think about it anymore.  Like a lot of their concepts unfortunately, I don’t think they’re long for this world.

I’ve had some really good meals at Italian Italian on South Lamar.  Definitely worth a try

Never thought of it as true Italian but Red Ash is some of the best food in the city.

Jack’s right on Traviata bolognese.  My favorite in the city.  Vespaio has always been top notch.

Haven't tried Uncle Nicky’s yet but hoping too sometime in the next few weeks.

Did you mean It's Italian Cucina on Lamar?

  13. I thought Loro was terrible. You pay the same price for brisket as you would at Franklin, but you receive about 2 oz of meat. The sous vide chicken was literally mushy. The Mexican style corn in a cup was delicious, but I think it was $7! Just fucking ridiculous pricing.  Aviary is across the street and is a million times better.

It's hipster as hell, but Dean's One Trick Pony in the Line Hotel downtown makes a phenomenal burger. I walk down to it during Sx, ate a Double on the patio and watched the money flow into town.

Try their fried chicken banh mi if you haven't already. It's awesome and ridiculously large.  I think that is one of the best restaurants downtown as far as the price to quality ratio is concerned.

  15. Tigress is my favorite cocktail bar in town. Great prices relative to Austin, and super nice employees and owner too. You can definitely strike up a friendly conversation there if that is your MO.
