  1. Why he fuck is there a crowd/seating? They importing rednecks into Europe and charging a fee? That is AWESOME BTW.
  2. Worth every penny. It's bad on campus. Being able to park on campus/dorm lots makes things so much easier for a new student, especially during football season. Son finished his freshmen tour last year. Founders Hall. Across the street from the biz school so it worked out for him. He's in an apartment now with a frat brother. Atmosphere. Across from Cardinal. If you are ever looking for nice VRBO options, check out Rogers and Goshen.
  3. It's all these things. Layer in Terry Blacks being in close proximity to them and it's a problem. TB's has better food and the logistics are so much easier. The line moves faster and much better seating. We used to always get the Trough at PL just to skip that damn line. Being up in Frisco, Hutchins is hard to beat if you can avoid the long waits as well. These days I'm doing most of it myself. Beef ribs are not hard. Pork is pork. Smoked chuckies make the best chopped sammich/taco options.
  4. Disney Cruises are fuck off expensive. Take that money and do something actually fun. Oh, and if you want to drink....double your budget
  5. Holy hell, that is wild!
  6. Booze cruise with other degenerate families can be a blast.
  7. Maybe because our entire national infrastructure was originally designed on roads and air travel? They aren't going away. So we're already pouring subsidies into those, and now you want to overlay an exponentially more expensive option that has shown time and time again to have cost overrides that are orders of magnitude above forecasts to carve out routes that are often hundred +/- miles. See earlier example. Merced to Bakersfield. 169 miles that costs almost a 5th of what it takes to operate our entire national highway system.
  8. You hung up on subsidies or the amount of subsidies? For example, total US subsidies for federal and state highways across the country are around $200B. Just the single Merced to Bakersfield segment of the rail is projected to be between $30B-$35B. Rail won't come close to covering similar distances, but when you look at coverage areas, the construction and operating costs are enormous. Again, there are only two worldwide that break even. That's over thousands of high-speed rail lines.
  9. They get them built - the majority being in Japan and China, with France, Germany and Spain trailing. The biggest issue is that almost all rely on massive government subsidies and operate at a loss. There are TWO HSR lines that have fully covered both operating and construction costs. One in Japan and one in France. That's with a sample size of thousands world-wide. TWO.

  15. Doolittle changed the entire Japanese strategy of the war. His raid on the mainland freaked the Japanese out, causing them to shift and adopt a more defensive posture, leading to the fortifications of the islands that we all know about. It also had a casual relationship to the battle that changed the entire campaign: Midway. Their shift to island fortifications, including Midway and the loss of four critical carriers, sealed their fate. The same islands that the launch mentioned was made from. He then shifted from the Pacific to command of the 8th air force over Europe. That he was on Okinawa after the battles over France is remarkable. Going back and forth to oversea such critical aspects of each battle. He then transitioned again after the war into Cold War strategic roles and helped shape policy for decades after.

  20. That was my son. Now after his freshman year in college he's gone almost every night, hanging with his friend group, playing poker, etc. His gaming is almost non-existent now other than down time on his phone. He's playing games because all his friends are playing games. Even if you could pull him from the screen, to hang with others you have to pull them from theirs.
  21. Let's recount: Freshman year: Sophomore year Jr year Sr year and the onset of graduation and a shitty job market
