I had it at 225.  I typically go right to the sear once it comes out of the oven then let it rest.  I’ll try both and see what works best.  Thanks!

Given ample time, I also like using 225, only 1-2 degrees of carryover. The other good thing about letting the steak cool down a bit pre-sear is that you don't have to re-rest them.  They are ready to eat right off the sear.

Bought a dry aged bone-in ribeye and reverse seared it last night.  Have only done 1 dry aged steak previously.  Internal temp read 128 degrees so I took it out and noticed it did NOT feel like 128 degrees - felt more medium.  Gave it a VERY quick sear and, sure enough, steak came out looking on the high end of medium.  Is this normal with dry aged steaks?  Again, not too familiar with cooking these.  I did use a new BT meat thermometer so maybe that was just off or I just had it up against the bone.  Regardless, tasted fucking amazing.  Flavor and texture were spot on - color just wasn't that beautiful red that we typically get.

What was your oven at for the cook portion?  The higher the oven, the more carryover you are going to get, something in the neighborhood of 3-5 degrees. Going immediately to the sear is going to keep cooking it. So, either 1) pull it earlier at 120 or so and immediately sear, or 2) let the steak rest 10 minutes (something non-metal would be ideal) and then sear it.  I have been doing #2 because it is foolproof but #1 is likely a better steak but has a learning curve.

Heh.  First cite in Gorsuch’s concurrence:  see Declaration of Independence Para 21.

This is really more of a criminal statute case than an immigration case. Essentially the law says mandatory deportation for an immigrant (illegal, perm. resident, whatever) for a "crime of violence" which is also felony. Since you have 50 state criminal codes it has always been really hard to figure out what qualifies, with burglary being the classic example. Some version of this has been on the books since 1982.  There was a sister case a few years ago called Johnson in which Scailia joined the liberals to invalidate a similar statute (the ACCA) that triggered a mandatory minimum.  In this case similar language triggered mandatory deportation. So Gorsuch is completely in line with Scalia on this (Scalie and Thomas had something like 97% agreement)

This is a decent primer written before the decision (little heavy on the legal front):

Over the cap has him listed as $8,500,000 savings pre June 1 cut.

    Post June 1..  $12,500,000 savings..

Through a restructuring we can save up to $5,792,500.

I have no idea who is right but that's where I got my info.

Irregardless of that fact, it should be noted that Earl Thomas is due exactly $8.5 million for 2018.

TV contracts always amaze me.  You'd think major sports leagues would build in the ability to swap in a marquee game that wasn't on the radar a month ago.  Reminds me of when CBS was the only station to play NCAA tourney games.

Agree, but to be fair, this game wasn't a certainty until late Monday night.  NFL does it very well with the Week 17 scheduled flex game.

Also for reference, the top 10 prospects in MLB in 2013 were: Profar, Oscar Taveras (RIP), Dylan Bundy, Wil Myers, Xander Bogaerts, Gerrit Cole, Tyler Skaggs, Jose Fernandez, Zack Wheeler and Christian Yelich.

Most of that list worked out. Just not for us cause we’re cursed

Jose Fernandez is also dead. I know he played for the Marlins, so most people probably have no idea.
