Ricky skipped his History final in 1998. Granted, he was receiving the trophy that night, but still, wasn't there.

Masshole Jr got his PB bass on the fly yesterday morning. I was trying out a new sinking line and he took a couple casts and pulled this one out.

Ok. Speaking of Sportsman’s Finest, about 10 years ago, I bought Joe Robinson’s manual “Piscatorial Absurdities” from them. I lent it to a buddy, moved up here, lost track of the dude, and want another copy. They don’t have it anymore and Ted, who championed the book, no longer works there.
So, long shot, does anyone here have a copy? If so, I’ll pay you to get a pdf made of it. -
Oh and in addition to this weekend I think we are camping at bolivar in April last weekend with my sort of in laws and my boys. Would love tips for the surf. Thinking about getting a new rig because why not? My Walmart starter set feels shitty.
I have some friends up here who spend a lot on surf setups, but I’m not shelling out for a Van Staal.
I like Tica and Star surf rods in the ~$150 range and Penn Battle/Conflict reels. I load them up with 50# braid and use a flouro leader.
These rigs will be for chucking big baits out there. If you’re fishing for specks in the first gut, this will be overkill.-

I returned the Tecovas since the fit didn't seem right. They really do make some nice looking boots - I'd have been happy with them if the sizes worked out better.
I went and checked out the JRC and Sons boots and some others at Cavenders. They weren't bad, but definitely appeared a bit cheaper.
Some Lucchesse 1883 FQOs fit the bit, but weren't any nicer looking than Tecovas and cost neatly $200 more. Fit was pretty good though.
I'm basically just looking for some decent boots in a roper style with traditional toe for regular wear. I like FQO's since they are soft. Could go with a plain leather as well if I found the right boot. I'd prefer not spend a fortune, but could go a bit higher if the quality is truly better.
I looked at the ABs, Rios, and Olathe online that TwiceHorn suggested. Not many options that didn't seem audacious or have square toes - I guess that's what the "real" cowboys wear these days..
Would love to hear suggestions on brands worth looking at and stores in or around Austin that have selection worth to check out.
Allen's boots has decent store brand hechos.

Or possible that Tecovas just aren't cut right for my foot and I should look at a different brand?
This is my experience, Tecovas just don't fit me that well. Check out Allen's house brand... similarly priced and constructed. Fit me much better.

The look or the fact that they're high up? I wore em so long, Levis back pockets feel like rear thigh pockets on fatigues to me.
That said, the only jeans I have anymore are Levis. I had a pair of Wrangler "Rugged Wear" in twill or whatever you call the diagonal weave denim. Cut pretty similar to CC13MWZ but maybe with some extra ball room. Very comfortable in terms of feeling loose without looking loose. Didn't wear as well as CC, though. I'm not sure I can find the same ones, or I would get some more.
Mainly the look, but thinking about it, I like a lower rise in my jeans as well. I'm pretty much all Levis 513 or 527... I have a couple other random pairs tossed in, but those 2 are my go-to.

I hate the back pockets on Wranglers... makes me feel like I'm wearing a costume.

Largemouth, sunfish, crappie, and catfish all survive under the ice all winter, so they should be ok.

So very clever and so very original. Did you think that one up by yourself or did your 3rd grader help you?
He could always run but the knock on him was that he lacked upper body strength. Apparently in just the last 4-5 months he's become much bigger and stronger, which happens sometimes to 16-year olds. How do his sparq scores line up with Deunte Chapman?

Does anybody have a suggestion for barn coat? I'm looking for something a little nicer than Carhartt. Schaefer Outfitters looks pretty promising, but I'd like some more options.
+1 on Filson. Maybe not a tin coat, but check out the Tacoma work jacket.

I have a pair of shearling lined Bean boots, they're good, but have basically no insulation around the foot. The Maine hunting boots sound interesting with no shank to give the moccasin-like feel.
My favorite winter/snow boot up here is by far Bogs Classic High Boots.

I didn’t realize there was a new thread. I like yearly threads. No need to merge.

Got the new Chocklett book. Working on my gamechangers.
Small ones are about 3”, bigger one about 5.
Can’t wait for bass season to get going again.-

Got to the "Content I follow" stream, but when I tap on "Past Hour" it doesn't give me additional time choices.
Every time I use the "Pager bar", it lets me know I can use the "Pager bar". I hit got it, scroll to a different post, and i get the helpful call out again. The "Pager bar" system needs a "go to last", "go to last read", and "go to [open field]" options. on big threads, it's difficult to push it all the way to the end.Read the thread and saw these same issues. The pager bar needs some serious help, if you're trying to scroll quickly and accidently hit it, it takes you to a different page, it's frustrating. I was just casually scrolling through a thread, my thumb went a little low, and it took me straight to the middle of the thread. I think the idea is good, but poor execution.
Would be nice to merge streams... "Content I posted in" + "Content I follow"
The menu button on the top left shouldn't take you out of Surly. I tap it and it goes to the "My Communities" page. I get that other people may have multiple communities, but that button usually brings up a menu rather than taking an action.
I can't see "Defund Tom Herman" anywhere. Nice to have those.
Can't edit posts.

I generally use a 4’-8’ flouro leader tied on with a crazy alberto knot. I use this setup for artificials on everything from ML spinning with 10# braid/6# flouro to surf setups with 50# braid/40# flouro. I use sea striker fast snaps when casting for stripers. For bait, I’ll use a swivel as the braid to flouro connection.

Re: Waders
Sierra Trading Post often has good deals. I found a pair of Simms that lasted me 6 years there for about $100.

Great day on the river! Pulled in 4 about that size. Also got 3 bonus rainbows on streamers, plus my first walleye on the fly.
The last nice bass was a thrill, I watched it come off a log, track my fly, and take it.
