Seconded.  You could the drive from Portland along the Columbia River, to the town of Hood River, is chock full of great stops, short hikes, etc.  The Dam at Cascade Locks is worth the time, as is the nearby fish hatchery.  Hood River has a great little downtown, with good restaurants and breweries, as well as some new development along the riverfront (sort of).

Also can vouch for Hood River be a great place to visit. We rented a place there for a week in August and used it as our base to do day trips all around the area. Never made it to the coast because there was plenty to do close by and decided we would do a coast only trip another time. I will be watching for coastal recs as well for the next trip, in the mean time there is some basic info to be found at TravelOregon.com. Not insightful Surly lowdown info but helpful none the less.

    Really like Kome.

Maybe a bias against new American cuisine but thought Salty Sow is just ok/ over-hyped for amount of love it gets.

Went to Salty Sow for the first time last night. Thought it was decent, somewhat limited menu and with good drinks, the beignets and homemade ice cream might have been the best part of the meal. If we go back it may be just for the  happy hour menu.

Been drinking this on the regular for the last couple of months. Tupps has some good to great brews, plus it's available at my HEB.Oh, when it's open.

  5. Got around to trying some Spindletap Hop Gusher this week. Liked it, certainly on the citrusy side though. Also picked up a 4 pack of Tupps  Brewery Full Grown Nick  Holiday Imperial Stout. Very similar to their Pumpkin Ale I had a while back which was good. Pricing still seems to be a bit high for their beers but maybe it just be that way in McKinney.

Headed to the MIL ‘s house in Hudson Bend to start packing up. She says the yacht club pool and playground is under water. She thinks her house is good up to 710’  but doesn’t seem positive.

I have sailed out of there quite a bit, used to look at the water mark on the flagpole from Christmas  of '91(?) and think holy shit , that will never happen again. I was wrong.

  7. Anybody else see the resemblance of Dicker's smile/smirk after the kick to that of the spooly- haired Victorian looking dude gif that gets used here all the time? Don't know what the gif is from but the slow, shit eatin' grin came to mind as soon as they did the close up of Dicker.
